If you would have told me that the best place to get Shushi in Pennsylvania was a little hole in the wall in Latrobe, I would probably thought you were kidding. That all changed after I visited Tokyo Sushi and Hibachi a few years back.
The highlight for me is their Sushi. They have a huge selection of Sushi rolls of all types, all rolled fresh to order. I've tried a handful but my favorite by far is the Shrimp Tempura. These rolls are incredibly flavorful and are huge! My typical order us 2 rolls and I'm full by the end of them. My girlfriend enjoys the Spicy Shrimp Rolls. She adds for cream cheese which they accommodate, and they are absolutely delicious.
When we order our sushi, we often order a Hibachi Shrimp Dinner or Shrimp Lomein to split. Both are delicious and help tie the meal together.
An added note is that their Spicy Mayo (Yum Yum) Sauce is the best I had.
I've had my fair share of Japanese Cruisine and Sushi and hands down this my favorite. I willingly make the 45 minute drive to visit Tokyo Hibachi and Sushi every few weeks over all the other options closer by. This place is very special and is such a gem. I often find myself recommending this place over any other when people ask for suggestions and or if food comes up and discussion.

Read moreIf you are in the market for GOOD sushi for a good price, here is your spot. I had the Sashimi and Sushi Dinner, Tempera Shrimp appetizer and the tempera cheese cake.
Very lightly staffed location and the gal running the dining room is doing everything, mobile orders, phone, take out orders and serving those sitting. She is a rock star but service due to only 1 person is slow. Not a knock on her, just I think the owner needs to hire additional help.
The food was amazing, sushi tasted fresh and the rolls were flavorful. The Tempura Shrimp and veggies were fried perfect, warm and crispy.
The tempura cheese cake was nice but the texture was not good. The fry was nice and crunchy but inside the cheese cake had melted due to the fryer. Could have also done with no chocolate and whipped cream soup that formed due to the hot frying. They had a decorative paper doily on the plate under it which just soaked up the liquid goop and you had to pick it off the food. Pass on this. Decent flavor but a pain in the...
Read moreOkay so after living in four different states and working in many sushi/hibachi restaurants in my 16 year long serving career...I'm a sushi brat. I can't help it. It is what it is. I never expect much from a small town place it's normally generic and mundane. I always look for something unique in each place I try. First off they accommodated to anything we wanted to change to the menu for everyone we were order for. Five out of five stars for service. Their tempura batter they used in their sushi rolls for the shrimp was absolute FIRE. Very unique for a sushi roll. Would Highly recommend. They also offer soy wraps for their rolls which is another hit for me. The menu was small and I wish they had more chefs special rolls but honestly I would absolutely return. Latrobe doesn't have much to offer in the sushi department. This place does just perfect for a quick dinner!
Oh yes did I...
