According to the website home page " After enjoying a magnificent multi-course homemade breakfast in our parlor, you may choose to soak up the sun on our ocean view front deck, relax in the serenity of the back patio, or cool down with a dip in the crystal blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Return to our sun drenched Main Parlor for our popular Evening Wine and Refreshments, which is served fireside in the winter months and on our ocean view deck in the summer.'||The reality: breakfast was in a cafe, around the corner from the Inn. There was NO evening wine or refreshments served either Friday or Saturday of our visit. ||The Inn is actually 3 houses down from the boardwalk and faces the street so the ocean view from the front porch is rather limited (but in their defense, they did not say ocean front so this one is on me)||We never saw the Innkeeper, we were given a code to let ourselves in (during the check in timeframe) and an envelope with key and instructions on a desk in the front hall. When we inadvertently locked ourselves out of our room, the phone in the front hall, with instructions to call for assistance, did not work and we had to walk to the coffee shop to find someone.||The fresh morning coffee in the parlor was nice and they did provide wine glasses and corkscrew - also nice. The room was as expected - neither better nor worse. There is a refrigerator on the second floor for guest use which is nice.||The location is excellent. We had a great dinner at a little Italian restaurant around the corner - byob and enjoyed the boardwalk and the beach. Very walkable and nice area. If I hadn't been expecting more, based on the website, this probably would have been a...
Read moreWhen we arrived we didn’t know about a code to get in. We booked thru Expedia. We called the phone number on the door and Jon gave us the code. After going in and grabbing our key and information papers we noticed cookies. This was a nice treat after a long drive. I’m still not sure if they were homemade but they were good!! If your looking for the TRUE Bed and Breakfast atmosphere, don’t book here. My husband and I have never stayed at a B&B and were very much looking forward to the breakfast with other guests and maybe asking some questions about the area.Breakfast is included but not served at the house. You have to walk to the corner (no big deal) and eat there. We always took ours to eat in the room. We didn’t get the true B&B experience!! Breakfast was average. We had the pancakes and French toast. Pancakes were good but I would have liked some fresh fruit in a separate bowl…. French toast was too thick. I have seen pics of breakfast from some B&Bs and this was not even close!! Jon was around but not like we thought. We stayed in the blue room with the king bed and balcony. The room could use some updating and cleaning. (See pics) None of the pictures on the walls were straight which is a pet peeve of mine. Jon did offer coffee and tea anytime you wanted it and bottled water in the fridge…. Parking if you can find a spot on the street or parking in a lot a block walk. I left a 5 stars because I don’t believe in giving a small business bad numbers!! Like I said above, the room could use some updating and more cleaning!! Beautiful landscaping if it was taken care of! No flowers planted and needed some...
Read moreJohn, the Innkeeper is super welcoming and accommodating!
We booked a last minute trip after things began to open up after COVID-19 and he was thorough in explaining what they were doing to maintain cleanliness of the inn and how they are modifying their typical services.
Some of those modifications were - free ice cream from their ice cream shop and breakfast to go instead of the snacks and sit down breakfast that they normally provide. These were super sweet gestures and the breakfast was generous and delicious!
The room was less modern (the building itself is old) but you can tell that the property is well maintained and the room and bathroom (which appeared to be recently updated as opposed to the room) were impeccably clean.
There are nice outside sitting areas, which is where we spent the evening after getting ice cream from the shop that's connected to the inn.
John was also very accommodating in terms of our check in (we were early and the room was available) and check out (he didn't have guests the next day, so gave us a later check out).
The inn is located steps to the beach, which was a huge plus because we came for the beach, not necessarily the room.
Overall, for a last-minute trip during an uncertain time, we were pleased with our stay at The...
