Pretty good experience, to sum it all up.
To preface my review, I am a Deaf person and I was staying here at this hotel with my fiancee over the weekend.
I'm from the area so I'm familiar with many of the hotels here, as well as how they operate. My mother was in the hotel business for many years.
The good: I checked in and these wonderful women made it such an easy process for me. I had a "temporary" AAA Card because mine was coming in the mail, and it didn't work when trying to book online (because the length of the temp AAA # was shorter than an actual AAA member #.)
All I had to do was mention that I was in AAA and showed my temp card, they gladly acknowledged it and gave me a discount on both nights.
**It was also a great plus that one of the women happened to know some sign language.
The suite was very clean. Housekeeping does a good job keeping the rooms clean and I checked the bed as well for the usual bed bugs or misc items people tend to leave.
*(If you get a suite) I should let you know that the suite is amazing, and the bathtub (whirlpool) made it all worth it. It was such an extremely relaxing experience altogether, and the TV was easy to operate. You get the usual 20-ish basic channels with your premium content, but they make the TV itself (which is, in my estimate, a 36 to 40ish inch, but definitely 720p) very accessible with HDMI ports and other ports in the back. Some hotels block the ports off the TVs but IT / tech people like myself like to take advantage of a TV using laptops or devices to output on the TV. It was easy
(Just make sure you click the "Menu" function on the bottom of remote, and go to the bottom option of the menu and change it to "just scan". It will fix the aspect ratio if you hook a laptop/etc to it. Otherwise it may be cut off like it was for me.)
The bed was the cream of the crop. It gave me the best night's sleep I've had in literally months. It made me actually wonder if I could purchase such a wonderful mattress, and to my surprise, there is indeed a Hampton shop where you can purchase their Sealy commercial mattresses.
THE BAD:
I should also preface that while there were concerns, the management either acknowledged them without issue, or it was just simply a misunderstanding between management and housekeeping.
After my first night, I left the hotel around 4pm ish but before doing so, I asked front desk to have the bed and all the towels changed. That did not happen, and I asked again the second time I left the same night (after coming back). When we returned, I decided to ask front desk before even going back up to the room if the towels had at least been replaced or provided. They said that somebody brought the towels up, but nobody answered. This is the misunderstanding that I mentioned, because I wanted them to replace/at least leave them up there WHILE we were gone.
But I digress, the one assistant manager was more than willing enough to run up there with a stack of towels but I stopped him and took them myself to go up there instead.
Turns out, (and I did NOT know this) the housekeeping crew had already left when I made that request, so they could only do so much, but I had at least hoped for a stack of towels at the door / inside the door. Hehe.
Even though I had (double checked) confirmed my extended checkout (which is 1pm for this hotel), my fiancee (who isn't Deaf) was woken up by housekeeping knocking on the door. She had to explain that we were leaving later as supposed. Housekeeper was confused & asked if we were staying another night, and my fiancee clarified that no, we are doing extended checkout later that afternoon.
Just kind of wish there was some communication in the management to allow housekeeping to acknowledge which rooms are doing extended checkout or not. (Imagine if it was just me, who is Deaf and maybe they decided to barge in?)
To sum it up: This hotel is one of the best you can get in Vineland. I can confirm that, and there's an indoor...
Read moreThis could be a great motel, but for now, I would withold a recommendation due to some staffing and maintenance issues.
The desk clerk was friendly and processed us quickly. The room key worked; no problem there.
When we entered the room, it was spacious and it didn't have any funny smells or broken furniture or fixtures. It had a large window along the outside wall which lit the room brightly and the room was nicely appointed.
The first issue I found was that the upholstered chair and ottoman in the corner of the room was stained badly with something that made me not want to sit in it. The bed skirt was also badly stained.
We had entered our room from the opposite end of the building from the front desk, so we hadn't seen the entire length of the hallway. But my first visit to the front desk revealed carpeting along the whole length badly stained.
My first visit to the frond desk was to get a cot for our son; we booked a room for three adults. The girl at the front desk was missing for about 20 minutes and I was told she was in the bathroom. That was an extraordinary long bathroom break! It took about 45 minutes to finally get the cot from the time I walked to the front desk. Not bad, but I could have done without the wait. And I walked to the front desk only because there was no answer when I tried to call.
A couple hours after breakfast, I thought I would take a swim and found out the pool isn't open until 10:00. A definite deal-breaker for me. And it didn't even open at 10:00! By 10:15 a little girl hopped the fence and opened the gate from the inside.
There was a crowd, maybe 10, of house-keeping girls, just outside the building on the way to the pool, smoking where the guests cant get away from the second hand smoke. They need to know this is unpleasant for non-smokers. We registered as non-smokers, we don't smoke in the room, and its nothing we expect to deal with at our motel.
In our room we observed that the smoke detector and the outlet in back of the TV were not fully attached to the wall. The bottom drawer of the bureau stuck and took some man handling by my son to pop it back in place.
All in all the motel is a very nice place, but lack of cleaning and staff responsiveness make this one that I don't recommend at this time. Sure, this is the earlier part of August when places at the South NJ shore community are crowded with throngs of people, but then this is their money making part of the year and the community should make it their business to handle the peak business in a clean,...
Read moreThe reason for my review is I was on a business trip and stayed at this hotel from Aug 7 to Aug 21 . The front desk staff I had no issues with but this one individual I learned his name is Marcel . What makes matters worse I learned he was a manager . One morning on Aug 15 ( I put a note in phone to remember date ) while eating breakfast I was on a video call with my best friend and before I hung up I was telling him I want to get another piece of sausage . Just before I was about to end the video call and was about to get up I see that there was a fruit loop on my plate. I looked so confused and said to my friend what is this like how did it get there . Then a tall man turns back and look at me to say I did it . So I said what makes you think it’s ok for you to put this on my plate . Mind you he started to walk back and picked up my plate . I asked him again what makes you think it ok I didnt ask you to take my plate either . He catches an attitude and looks at another older man sitting in the chair in the corner on right and said oh my god. Which mad me super livid . I said to my friend let me go to the front desk . I explained to the lady what happened and she apologized . I said I wan to speak to the manager and she said unfortunately he is . I said oh really ok. I told her I’ll deal with this later . I went back to my room to shower and came back down to get his name . Out of shock the lady looked at my scrubs and saw my name and that I was the pharmacy operations manager . She said wow . I said just because I’m not dressed up for breakfast doesn’t make me less of anything . I got on the next morning and left the hotel around 5 am. So I can drive to Brooklyn. I refused to stay the day there . I felt very uncomfortable and targeted . I learned a few day later this is the behavior he has with other black people. I even emailed my company corporate to let them know and to not send anyone else there so they won’t be targeted . I would have been left this review but while there I learned my aunt and uncle past so my mind was not there fully . I also want Hampton inn corporate to reach out to me because this is...
