I've sat on writing this review for a few months, waiting to see if my feelings have changed and maybe it really wasn't as bad as I felt at the time, but no.
Husband and I had a jobsite in the area in March, and we reluctantly stayed here for twelve days -- this was the 'best' option we could find that didn't involve a 1-hour drive to the jobsite and was within our company's price limit. The first room we were given seemed okay, until my husband found a palm-sized patch of mold on the floor in front of the fridge and mold inside the fridge. Asked to change rooms. Second room, opened the door, got two steps in, room reeks of cigarette smoke. Asked to change rooms again... front desk was reluctant at first and told us "but we're a non-smoking facility", I asked why I had to sign the "$250 cleaning fee if smoking in room occurs" if no-one ever smokes in the hotel. They finally agreed to move us, but warned us that this was the only other room they had available. Fine, we don't have much of a choice at this point and we'd been up since 2am, we're tired and they're letting us check in early.
We didn't find any mold, the bed was at least clean (sheets had some old stains, but they had clearly been laundered), but... that's kind of the only good parts about the room. Floor looked and felt like it had been only gone over very quickly with a sweeper, there was confetti and a couple hair ties on the floor as well as patches that just felt dirty underfoot. TV remote didn't work, first replacement remote we got both didn't work and had some sort of goo on it, second replacement only the power and sleep buttons worked, never got a third. The walls were dirty, there was what might have been a dried blood smear on the door. Bathroom counter/sink looked and felt like it was separating from the wall, shower drained very slowly and the water pressure was pretty weak. Air conditioner barely cooled the room (weirdly warm week), we had to keep the curtain closed the whole time or the room would get uncomfortable during the daytime. Fridge would cycle between too warm one day to freezing everything solid the next.
The hallways were gross, if they were cleaned at all they only got a carpet sweeper run over them half-heartedly - I never saw nor heard a vacuum the whole time. There was a dirt clod and some wrappers in front of the ice and snack machine on our floor when we arrived and it was still there when we checked out. Came in after finishing one of our late shifts (around 2am), there was broken glass in the elevator. Our second-to-last-day, a bolt fell out ceiling of the elevator and bounced off the top of my head.
Probably the worst part, though, is that we had asked the front desk if they had outgoing mail and if we could add a postcard for our nephew to it. The front desk seemed uncertain, we said "no problem, we can try to find a mailbox on our way to our jobsite", but then they changed their mind and said that it wouldn't be a problem and took the postcard. The postcard was the last part of a collection/series where you put them together, they make a larger picture. The postcard never arrived.
Location gets that 2nd star because of the parking, we had room to get our office trailer in and out without issue and lots of...
Read moreNEVER STAY IN THIS HOTEL EVER. Listen...I had a job interview in Glassboro NJ...and an orientation for my daughter's school in Franklinville NJ...so I thought it wise to stay close to prevent back and forth driving. Its an hour from Atlantic City to Franklinville and an hour and about 15 minutes to Glassboro. Y'ALL PRAY I GET THIS JOB. I WANT AND NEED IT. Moving forward..... I booked this hotel the night prior. There were no vacancies in others that were close. I remembered staying in another hotel of the same company in North Carolina...so I felt a little comfortable choosing this one here. 1- I chose this place because of location, price, availability, free breakfast, and no hidden additional fees. LOCATION Vineland NJ about 15 minutes away from both locations...45 minutes away from my home... PRICE 103.00 original price 150.00 per night...but I booked from a 3rd party at 90.00. AVAILABILITY plenty of vacancies. FREE BREAKFAST I expected continental with pancakes, french toast, meats, and all the fixings I was used to having with other hotels. I was told a bagged breakfast was gonna be served...I ended up eating at a diner. NO ADDITIONAL FEES Upon arrival no fees. I paid taxes and fees when I booked. NOW.......... ABOUT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE I get there. The young lady was very pleasant. Her customer service was great...but I am a great reader of body language..her manager's wasn't....I could tell by the way she was handling another guest... ABOUT THE HOTEL Lobby was beautiful and cleaned...here is the bad part.....I saw a sign saying they will be renovating in 2022. I'm like, it already looks great until I got on the elevator. The walls of this elevator needed to be cleaned...get to my floor and there was this smell of incense...and it was sticky humid type feeling...looked on the carpet...FILTHY...and cracks in walls and ceilings...GET TO MY ROOM. It had a bad smell, air conditioner was broken, stains on the walls, and holes too. Carpet and chair was filthy as well...Requested a room change... ABOUT THE ROOM CHANGE... Two sets of keys didn't work for the second room. Had to request another room and key change...Finally keys worked for the third room..it was clean...the smell wasn't bad..air conditioner worked...everything was fine until I wanted to take a shower. THE WATER WAS BROWN WITH BLACK SPECS RUNNING THROUGH IT IN INTERVALS. Complained about that...but the manager left for the evening...had to wait until 8am to speak with her. I was informed that a pipe burst and plumber fixed the problem...our water started lightening up...but now, the water was yellow still with the black specs... ABOUT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM MANAGER...SHE NEEDS TO BE FIRED. No help from her at all.....not even a portion of my money back...nothing at all... I will never stay there again. That place is unacceptable...on top of that...babies crying..grown folks running up and down the halls. Drug addicts reside there...and I woke up to a couple arguing..NOT A GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR ME...AND I WON'T BE...
Read moreOur visit here was terrible. We got into the first room they gave us and there was hair in the bed and food in the refrigerator. So they gave us another room.
The second room had a broken door handle, which I fixed as best I could without tools. The door doesn't close tight and there is a massive gap at the bottom so you hear everything going on in the hallway. One of the towels was filthy (see picture). The pillows they use here are unusually small and insufficient. The room has literally the most uncomfortable couch I have ever sat on. The sheets and bedspread were all wrinkled. They wash and never fold them, they just roll them up and then put them on the bed. Is that a thing now? I don't know. The bed was uncomfortable as well
At least there's breakfast, right? They have the regular powdered eggs and sausage they serve at all hotels. The sausage were actually really good. They have waffles that are premade and have to be put in a toaster that are absolutely disgusting. They didn't have the typical waffle maker thing which is always amazing. And that's it for hot breakfast. They also had lukewarm coffee but no napkins.
Oh, the coffee debacle. So they advertise having a coffee pot in the room. Well, that's a lie. But they do have a coffee station available all day by the front desk. This coffee sits here all day and is vile and foul. They also only had flavored creamers. I tried to get some milk out of the fridge by the breakfast area but they actually lock the milk up, which is a whole other mess!!
The entire visit felt like we were being watched and nickel and dimed. There is a card in the room saying they inventory all the items in the room and what they will charge you if you take something (see picture). At breakfast there are signs threatening to verify your guest status if they see you eating there. And, of course, the locked up milk and creamer. Oh, and there were no cups in the room so when you brush your teeth you have to stick your face under the faucet to rinse.
I honestly felt like we just weren't the target clientele Windham is marketed to. I'm not really sure who their target customers are. I don't want to steal your nasty towels. No one is interested in taking home your mini pillows. I will never get a room that doesn't have a coffee pot in it again. My wife will never let me forget the coffee disaster at Windham. We couldn't wait to get out of there and even passed on the breakfast the second day and went to Denny's up the street (which was amazing!).
At the end of the day I could have gone to a Holiday Inn Express for exactly the same amount of money. This hotel was just OK. I work hard for my money and just found the penny pinching and lack of attention to detail unacceptable considering I could have had a better experience for the exact same price elsewhere. I'll never go to another Windham owned hotel and I plan to let my employer know to avoid them as well.
If you do choose to stay here I certainly hope you have a better experience than we did....
