I had dinner here on 10-16-2018.
Tuesday night is their lobster special night, but I also wanted a steak. So my server informed me that this place does a lobster tail AND 4 oz filet special for $19.95 every day. SOLD.
It was very dark and it was hard to read the menu. I heard my server tell the sushi chef to turn up the lights and he argued with her saying it was bright enough already. (more on this later).
My calamari appetizer was great. The rings were tender, the tentacles were chewy, and the batter was crispy. My drinks came in relatively timely fashion and I was served bread and rolls, as well. So far so good.
My meal arrives and it is outstanding. Nice petite lobster tail and petite filet, both done to perfection. The potato is done well (nice and tender) and buttered. The vegetable medley is cooked well and not over done. Here's where it get's interesting.
As I'm about 10 minutes into working my way through this delicious meal, I find myself needing to use the restroom. This being a restaurant in the Ramada Inn, the restrooms for the restaurant are out in the lobby. So I get up and go to the restroom, and leave my napkin on my chair, as etiquette dictates, because I'm not done with my meal.
I come back from my trip to the restroom (5 minutes max), and to my surprise, my table has been wiped down and EVERYTHING has been cleared away. I found my server and said, "excuse, miss, i wasn't done eating, went to the restroom, and my table has been cleared." A horrified look comes over her face and she tells me to have a seat and she'll take care of everything. I hear her screaming at the bus boy in the kitchen. Now I feel bad. She comes out and tells me this is the bus boy's first day on the job (he can't be more than a day over 14- at least that's what he looks like). She then tells me that they're cooking up another dinner for me.
But by this time, the dinner rush was on and it took an inordinate amount of time to even replace the glass of water that had been remove. By this time, the owners of the hotel had come in to the restaurant to see if the place was burning down. The owner goes over to the sushi chef and asks him why it's so terribly dark in the restaurant and if he expected the guests to eat in the dark. Magically, the lights got brighter just a few seconds after that. The owner came over to my table and profusely apologized for the error and I told him that it was not a big deal and that the busboy was doing a good job.
I ended up finishing my meal and spoke a few words of encouragement to the bus boy. I told him that he did a great job of clearing the table and to not get discourage for being yelled at. My first job was as a busboy and I know what it feels like to get yelled at by wait staff.
The food here was excellent. The customer service was very good. Despite the small hiccup with getting drinks after I my originals were removed, this was a great...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went here tonight 3/5/21 for the first time. The ambiance was very romantic and welcoming and the appetizer we ordered was very good and flavorful, however my boyfriend and I both got salads with our meal and for some reason his came out first and I didn’t receive my soup and salad until 40 min later and that was after waving the waiter down that 100% forgot us while we were there. Soup and salad was good though if I’m not mistaken our waiter (young caucasian kid with short brown hair) only checked on us once the whole time we were there. My boyfriend received his sushi and there I sat waiting again for my food. What seemed like a manager that brought our food out to us, I did enjoy my sushi but my boyfriends mashed potatoes were luke warm and food didn’t have much flavor. We waited until our waiter noticed us done eating and asked for the check and two boxes, the waiter didn’t ask if we wanted dessert which we would have gotten and didn't even say thank you. All in all.... food was good, ambiance was nice, service was trash which is why we did not tip well. Didn't plan on being there for over two hours and not to mention not until an hour into being there did it start to get busier. We’ll most likely give it another try but managers seriously need to train their servers better, if the lady filling up our dinks while we’re there is more pleasant than our server....somethings wrong there. If we’re being forgotten when there’s only 4 tables filled...somethings wrong there. I hope things get better because if we do have a second bad experience I can guarantee you we will not be back and by the looks of your review we won’t be the only...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to eat a new place and chose Dakota Prime Steakhouse. We ordered from the pre-fixed menu. 4 courses for 35.99 and I chose the crab bisque, Caesar salad and the NY Strip Steak. I also upgraded my steak and made it Oscar (hollandaise, crab and asparagus) for an additional 20 bucks. The soup came out and was watery. Bisque is not watery. The salad was good, until i found a black piece of lettuce in it (rotten) and my steak, well I will let you be the judge of it. It was definitely not a NY Strip Steak like advertised, unless they used a meat slicer to slice it into thirds. The steak was not consumable, had a gristle all around the steak, a gristle bubble, which i have never seen in my life and was pretty much comparable to shoe leather. The waitress was awesome and very accommodating. None of this was her fault. She asked if I wanted the steak redone and I told her no. The chef made another one and sent it out anyway. The second one was much better than the first (actually had color and cut with a steak knife), but now the oscar part (crab, sauce and asparagus) when i went to move it to look at the steak it came up in one big glob, like paste. I was done and over the meal at this point. $118 later and I ate 1 spoonful of the soup, 3 bites of the salad and one bite of the steak. Did the original owners sell? I used to hear people rave about this place, and honestly, diner food is 10x better than this place. I dont even know if the owner knows that the food is as bad as it is. I think I would of had a much better meal going next door to Harrys pub and sincerely wish...
