I’ve stayed here a few times now. Each time gets worse and worse. The hotel is beautiful and the maids do a wonderful job! Samantha at the front desk treated us wonderfully (these are the only reasons I am not giving 1 star).
To me, this is an upscale hotel. I expect the staff to be at least somewhat respectful (none of this applies to Samantha, as she was kind, respectful, personable, and empathetic). Most of this situation started with Jeremy telling us that we could only stay on the first floor with a pet- we thought this must be a new policy. We had requested the fourth floor. Not a huge deal at the time- though last time we had someone upstairs which sounded like they were tossing bowling balls on the floor. First night there was someone who sounded like they jumped or fell off the bed. The stomping continued late, but we didn’t mention anything till the third night. We called the front desk, who said they would call upstairs. It quieted down mostly that night. We didn’t want to bother the staff on xmas, but the loud noise above us continued. We waited to tell the front desk until after the holiday weekend. Samantha had told us the person had been an issue for some time now and has had multiple complaints. She was going to talk to the manager, saying if there was another complaint the person would likely have to be kicked out. We really didn’t want anyone kicked out, but this person would not quiet down. There was pacing and furniture moving throughout the night until 3am most nights. It wasn’t that someone was just walking above us. The walls were shaking and it felt like an earthquake. We talked to the front desk again the next day. We were not able to sleep for most of the week. We were supposed to be enjoying vacation. Later that night in the room we heard stomping again. Before dinner I spoke with Meghan and she said no one had been in the room since 4pm the day before. We had been up all night with the stomping, so it sounds like this person was avoiding the phone. Meghan did not care that we hadn’t slept all week because of this person. She was very short with me. After dinner my partner tried to speak with Meghan, and she told him a totally different story, lying to one or both of us. She treated him very rudely. He was obviously very upset by the situation but she only made it worse. We both requested to change rooms. After my partner spoke with Meghan she locked him out of our room. Thankfully I was already in the old room packing our things and the dog. That night was quiet. The next night we had a family with an adult autistic child and one or two barking dogs. This person was throwing a fit next door (I totally understand- new situations can trigger this sort of thing). This man was pounding on floors and walls. We waited to see if the situation would settle. The man’s parents started screaming at him, only making the situation escalate more. My partner called the front desk. Meghan picked up. She told us to have some sympathy and hung up on us. We were calling mostly because their screaming at him was unsettling. Meghan really ruined our stay because of her rude behavior and treatment of us. We had enjoyed this hotel in the past. This is a nice hotel and I expect just a very basic level of decency from the...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went to Boston with another couple friend for an extended weekend visit.
Rooms: Loved the rooms. They were great and the beds were comfy. REALLLLY Comfy. That was the best. Only complaint I had about the room was I wish there was a sink area NOT in the bathroom because waiting for 4 adults to shower/makeup etc would have been so much faster if it wasn't in the shower area. HOWEVER it could have just been because of the room we chose. I was still pleased either way with the room.
Location: It's close enough to Boston but still a decent car ride away. Traffic could be good or bad depending on the hour normal city stuff. REALLY close to Gillette stadium and the shopping there so that's a nice perk.
Service: I debated giving it a 1 star. Had no issues checking in or anything however the next day we had housekeeping freshen the room up and they left the door open!! They didn't close it well enough. When we got back to our room that night it was closed but not all the way. Luckily nothing was missing. No safes in the rooms either. Read in their thing that they don't do housekeeping on weekends unless you request it. So requested it on Saturday. It was fine. Sunday we requested it and they never showed. When we got back to the room that evening we had to call down for new towels at least because ours were used and we had requested new ones. The girl told me I had to come down and get them. They wouldn't bring them up. Then when I get down there the girl was busy playing on the computer. Uh OK.
Mini Store: The little mini store was out of almost everything whenever I was there. I don't know maybe they were just super busy or their staff was too lazy to stock I don't know. I just know their shelves looked very sparse.
Pool: No hot tub/spa. :( but that was ok. The pool room looked really appealing. it was warm and felt so good walking in. You just couldn't wait to get into the pool.... until you put a foot in the pool. The water was freezing and the whole room suddenly felt so deceiving. We were in the pool for a whopping 10 minutes before we just left because its a small pool with no deep area for swimming and it wasn't even warm to relax in.
Complimentary Breakfast: I was very disappointed. It was like cereal, bagels, toast. They had waffles which were good but there was so many people it took forever to get your food and then they were out of things and had to wait for someone to refill it AFTER I had to ask for it. Their "breakfast sandwiches" looked like frozen jimmy dean ones. They tasted like cardboard. Definitely was poor quality egg/meat choices. I've been to several hotels and this place was one of the worst. We skipped it a couple of days because it wasn't worth the hassle.
Overall.... it was a great room and that's what saved it from being a 1 star. I did pick this place apart but I've stayed in several hotels and maybe I'm just used to better. Just thought I'd give people my...
Read moreI absolutely LOVE staying at Home 2 Suites. I booked through Expedia, so the price was good too! The rooms are big, there's a good size kitchen area with dishes and this far has always been clean and very modern. When i travel, I only stay where breakfast is included or within short walking distance, which is why I chose Home 2 Suites. I've stayed at other places, and the breakfast choices at those places were quite frankly sad and frustrating. At Home 2 Suites, you eat in the super wide lobby, plenty of seating choices, be it high or low, and it's spread out. The breakfast usually includes a cereal station (raisin bran was a choice!), a bagel box with plain bagels, (the usual butter, cream cheese, and jelly individually wrapped), some wrapped muffins(2 types: apple and blueberry), prepared oatmeal, fridge with milk, almond milk and yogurt. The orange juice is on ice on the counter, fruit (oranges and green apples), premade eggs/omelet choices (plain, with cheese, or with ham). There was also a breakfast bowl with sausage, as well as a make -your-own waffle station. Their waffle batter was a perfect consistency and the instructions on how to make the waffle are on the waffle maker. There is a waffle maker for a standard size waffle (it's huge. It takes up 1 plate) and one that you can make 4 tiny waffles for the kiddos. Please don't overfill the cup that you pour your batter with. Nobody likes food waste or a mess.
Now, the only reason I'm giving the room 4 stars this time, is because i had a room on the first floor with a slighlty smallish bathroom, which is ok, but the bathroom had a sliding/pocket door with a lock that I couldn't figure out and found myself locked in the bathroom the first time as the door automatically locks when the door is fully closed. So here's the trick apparently: to open door I was stuck behind, I had to press my bent index finger of my right hand onto the flat plastic piece and then pull with my other hand on the round silver piece that the plastic one sits in. Basically, I didn't notice the door. If I had, I would've asked the staff to explain the unusual opening apparatus to avoid confusion.
Other than that, good stay. Ample parking in a well lit lot on the property AND multiple locked entrances you don't need to run around to the front door to get in.
Overall, great stay, would love...
