Walterboro from what I'm told has tons of restaurants to choice from they are only an hour drive to Beaufort and less than half the cost per night. Much more economical to stay here and drive the hour than pay twice as much just to see the water before you fall asleep. Rooms are quite dated and furniture has seen better days the couch was so very faded it looks like it was sun bleached. Not sure but it seems like the last time this place had an upgrade was the 80s by the looks of the "carpet squares" (I highly recommend slippers or slides when walking on the floors don't go barefoot) I highly recommend to the hotel owners to invest in some updates especially some new mattresses, lumpy old mattresses are not very comfortable and please for the love of all things sleep related toss the throw pillows in the trash they are not meant for beds get some regular full size bed pillows. I ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS bring my own pillow and blankets and "sleep pod" I do not put hotel bedding on my skin but I cannot imagine a single guest prefers those tiny throw pillows with zero support to a normal size bed pillow. Your 4 throw pillows on the king bed equal like 2 normal ones and any other BW I stay at with normal pillows has at least 4 big ones per bed 2 firm 2 soft to accommodate a range of sleepers. And please either replace that jacuzzi tub or find someone who can do a fiberglass patch. That crack will just breed mold mildew and a host of other nasty health problems.

1 star is too much for this hole!We haven't stayed at a best Western for a long time, but this was the only pet friendly hotel we could find in the area. Best Western used to mean a decent hotel, but I guess not any more! As I opened the door to the room, I got a strong pungent whiff of wet dog, mixed with a heavy perfume smell to try to cover up the stench!. The room was unusually small. The carpet was torn and frayed. I thought someone had a loud car running outside, but it turned out to be the AC roaring! The TV worked, but just barely-- the top half half of the screen was green and the bottom was red, like the tube was going out, except it was a flat screen. And it flickered which was distracting. The shower drained so slow that I was standing on 2 inches of water before I was done. The mattress was old, hard and lumpy. The Internet went down about 15 minutes after we arrived, and never came back, even in the morning. The soda machine was empty of both coke and mudoo, so no mixers! The full length mirror by the sink was broken and leaning. This places was terrible!! Don't stay here!!

I took a trip to see family and get affairs in order. So glad I chose best western to stay in and I would never stay at another hotel for next future stays. Beautiful hotel . They’re doing renovations but look mostly done and the designs looks like a 5 star expensive resort . The plants gave it more ambience and likely look and feel . Breakfast is a deal breaker when choosing hotels and they had a really good hot breakfast daily! Zero complaints I always left with my belly full, food always tasted right and didn’t make me sick (which is a hard task with a sensitive stomach) so kudos to the team at this hotel. The room has more than enough space to put our dogs cage and room for them to run around. I didn’t take a picture but they have the biggest yard space for pets I’ve ever seen at a hotel! Very quiet even though it’s right next to the interstate I felt like an oasis . 12/10 recommend this hotel especially someone with pets the price is extremely reasonable with the amenities.

Location isn’t bad as it is close to the highway and multiple gas stations/food choices so for travelers the location is decent. Unfortunately, the hotel itself is not as decent. My family were traveling from FL to NY for my mother’s wedding and we booked a room at the Best Western in Walterboro, SC, through Priceline. We arrived before check in time and were immediately met with attitude. When I asked if we could pay to check in early the female manager, I don’t remember her name but she has glasses, immediately snapped at myself and my husband and scoffed before saying “only if we have a clean room”. She also gave me attitude due to the fact that I mistakenly booked a pet room and we did not have a pet with us. When we got to the room we noticed a smell but just chalked it up to being an older hotel. There were also earwigs in the bathroom, so needless to say we all skipped showers. The staff told us about a free breakfast several times so I decided to take my two daughters (age 9 and 11 months) to get some food before we got back on the road. As soon as we got into the lobby and entered the dining area we were met with stares and dirty looks from a very large group of people. Not only did they whisper under their breath about me and my family, they also blocked the food line and tried to prevent me from getting food for my kids. They were essentially shaming me with their dirty looks and rude comments. As someone who already struggles with mental health and anxiety issues, this was very hard. I got very upset and left our food on the table. I told the front desk that I would be back to get the food. I told them I was severely uncomfortable due to the other people in the dining area staring at me and making comments about my family. No one spoke up and asked them to stop. The manager with the glasses, did help me bring the food up to my room. But while doing so, she also tried to rationalize and defend what those people were doing. She just kept saying that they were a large church group, and that they were nice, good people. No one apologized, no one asked if I was okay. I felt so disrespected and literally sick to my stomach. Immediately after that, my family and I packed our bags and left. The staff at this location needs some customer service training. I was horrified at the way every single person who worked there acted. Disgusting. I will absolutely never stay at this location again, and if you have a family I would certainly avoid it...

My family and I reserved a double room here as a pit stop on our way from Philly to Florida - it was the perfect halfway point and the reviews online looked good. I tried to call from the road to confirm our reservation as we were going to be arriving later than planned due to traffic. But I couldn't get anyone... strange - literally no one answered! So we called the Best Western 800-number, who said they would get a message to the motel and assured us our reservation would be honored even if we arrived late. When we arrived, the office was closed and you had to check in at this weird window, which we did. Eventually, a man came out and showed us to a ground floor room. It smelled bad but we were tired so we began unloading our bags. My son used the bathroom and said it was gross - from a teenage boy! I checked and it was filthy... didn't look like it had been cleaned, hair in the drain and bugs on the walls. Then my daughter turned down the sheets to get into bed and found more bugs - big bugs and small (bed?) bugs - and what looked like blood stains! As an aside, we are not picky people - both individually and as a family have traveled a lot domestically and abroad and don't expect much from a hotel/motel - just a reasonably clean place to lay our heads for a night's sleep. We called to ask for another room and the man came back and showed us another ground floor room that was just as dirty and buggy, as in BUGS (lots of them) ON and IN the bed, and blood stains and a strange (moldy?) smell. We were so exhausted and just wanted to sleep, so we asked to see a room on an upper floor hoping that it might be better. The man refused, saying that every room we checked had to be marked "dirty" and recleaned and he didn't want to do that. Just as well, I guess, as I assumed they would be. It was too late to begin searching for another place to stay so we ended up driving a bit further, stopping to sleep in the car - not fun! Later learned that all Best Westerns are franchises so they are hit-or-miss. We'll avoid them all from now on and stay at Hampton Inns or Holiday Inns. They are similarly priced as this Best Western but MUCH, MUCH cleaner and more reliable. I'd give this place zero stars if I could!

UPDATE: In response to Owner's comment below... We did not stay at all; we left and were...

Below please read the review to this hotel 3 years ago. 3 years ago this hotel was a jewel in the industry for cleanliness and friendly staff. No more.

July 26 2018. Great and friendly check in clerk. Beyond that a desaster. The room smelled like a wet and dirty dog. Not a good smell. The bathroom had towels behind the door hanging from the previous guest, an oversite by the housekeeping besides not vacuming the room with evidence of dirt in corners. The breakfast is quickly removed at 9am on the dot. Upon returning to my room while having gathered my bill and letting the desk know that my keys will be left in my room when I check out in an hour and having DO NOT DISTURB SIGN ON THE DOOR the housekeeper barges into the room NOT EVEN KNOCKING on the door, catching us by surprise. No appologies just an excuse that the front desk had said we had checked out. REGARDLESS. One knows especially since the front desk had given wrong information and no apologies rendered. Rude obese black clerk on check out. Did not care at all.

This was the one I wrote 3 years ago

Everything in this hotel is CLEAN! The rooms have flat screen tv and a comfortable table to do your work. The beds are comfy and the lobby is clean and bright. Parking is no a problem with many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The staff is friendly and the breakfast includes protein generating food like egg and sausages along with those high cabs like waffles and yogurt also fruits. The wi fi is tricky it requires you to sign in and then those techy people like myself are denied goofle apps like remote control because it goes to a differnet router. That is the only drawback. Oh, the pool is clean and the small gym withi is minimal no weights just treatmills is clean as well. For a hotel around 80.00 or less it is a...
