This is definitely a very special story. I was on my way to North Carolina, home, and we were tired and hungry, sooooo we decided to stop for some tasty Cracker Barrel. As soon as I walked in, I noticed something was off. Not a lot of people making a line, not a lot of people waiting, and obviously, there was plenty of parking.
So, when I walked to the host to request my table there was no one there. So, me and my wife walked throughout the store to see all the cool, cute, interesting and funny items they have to sell. After a couple of minutes someone walked up to us and let us, apologized, and sat us after letting us know they were extremely short staffed. "Extremely" was an understatement. But the best is yet to come.
When our waiter came, Clayton J., super mega ultra giga shout out to the guy, he just went above and beyond for us. He took our order, brought us tons of stuff and gave us a great service with a smile. He even prepared a coffee drink himself because someone else made it for me and it was... pretty bad... sorry, very bad... and, BAAAAMMM, Clayton went back and made it again, by himself and brought it to me. Needless to say, the coffee was amazing, brought the food , which was amazing, and even with a few tables around for him to serve, he still had time to share his story with us. Gave us some extra biscuits for our journey, gave me extra coffee as well, and even thanked us for everything. He has just plain AMAZING!!
Also, there was another lady, seemed southern, because of her beautiful loving and sweet accent. I wish she was my grandma 👵🏼. I was looking at the Boston peanuts 🥜 but there was only one pack, but there was an offer of "Buy 3 get each for $x.xx". She walked up to me and said "Oh, honey 🍯, don't worry, if you need more, I can go back and get you some. Would that be OK, dear?" Help southern accent melted me! Her sweetness and helpful tone just made my day. I forgot her name, but I'm sure if they read this to the team, she should know and/or remember this. Anyways, I know this place has gotten a lot of hate and bad reviews. This place is amazing! I just hope that they can get all shifts together as one and make then understand that it is teamwork that makes a place like this charming. I can't wait to go back and experience this and more, all over again.
Cracker Barrel, Thank You for making this experience...
Read moreWe have learned our lesson with to go orders from here. After today, I don't know if we will eat here in person again, either. I always order a large amount of biscuits and cornbread (the ten count) because we enjoy them for breakfast and they always leave them out. That's over $10 of missing items each time. I have never complained because accidents happen and that's what I get for ordering to go, but today, I decided it was time to kindly let them know to do better. I called, spoke to a nice kid and was then transferred to someone. A young man named Barrett got on the phone. I very nicely said my order was missing "a catering size or larger size or whatever you call it of 10 mixed biscuits and cornbread", and he went on a tirade about how he doesn't deal with catering. I tried to explain that he misunderstood and I was just trying to explain that it was their larger portion order and this want the first time my items had been missing and he lost his patience with me. I explained I had placed the order in Instacart and the main part of my order was missing. (It's not rocket science. It happens are restaurants all day, every day). He said he would refund the amount but never asked for my phone number or anything else to confirm it was done. Only my name and then rushed me off the phone and hung up. No apologies for the missing items. Nothing. Wouldn't have been a big deal BUT, I'm home sick with a rocky stomach and I specifically ordered Cracker Barrel today so that I could have some bland biscuits to eat. It was about the only thing that sounded appetizing to me today. I didn't need to be berated for pointing out a continuous issue I've had at their particular restaurant. I was very nice the entire conversation. His reaction was unwarranted and disrespectful. (My dude, you sling biscuits for a living. If you can't do it right and be pleasant about it, find another career where being a short tempered jerk works for you). We usually have large groups to the restaurant for the holidays. I think we will be looking at Tavern on the Green or Carmines for these events in the future. I'm over the ineptitude...
Read moreWas seated at 602pm. Was told we could not order the special because it was after 6pm. That was fine. I ordered the 2 fried chicken and hash browns. My husband ordered turkey in and dressing and sweet potatoes casserole. After 30 minutes of sitting there the waitress came out and said that they were having computer issues and we all had to pay right. If we didn't pay she would have to for our meals. I asked you don't pay for any meal. She stated that the manger said if we didn't pay right then she would have to pay for it. So we paid and all the tables around us did the same. So an hour had passed and we had not received our food. Finally our food comes out at 712pm wrong and cold. Stone cold. We asked to speak to the manager. The manager came to our table mad as hell. I told him we could not eat the food, my chicken was cold and fried hard and my husband food was cold. I explained we had waited for over and hour and how do you serve cold food. He still acted mad with his hands on his hips. Acting like i was the problem. I asked if he was the manger. That really missed him off. He replied and said isn't that what you asked for. He never introduced himself. So I ended the conversation and told him. Just give us our money back. He left the table went somewhere I don't know where or why. Came back to the mumbled something, still don't know what he said. So I handed him my credit card, he refused to take it. Said he could only take it at the register to give us our refund. Okay, why didn't he say that when he walked up to the table. This guy can not manage a restaurant. Number 1 he has a horrible attitude, 2 treats his waiter and waitress terrible and knows nothing about food especially how to cook it or keep it hot. Please do not eat at Walterboro SC, Cracker Barrel. No wonder they are closing Cracker Barrels...
