Just awful! I stayed there for 7 days. And if I had another option I would have jumped on it. When I checked in, the guy at the front desk was very nice which the only positive interaction the entire stay. I got to my room and immediately went to sleep. I woke up at 7 am stiff as could be from the hard bed. But what woke me up was the room remodeling that was not at all mentioned by the staff. No signs. No heads up when checking in. Nothing. They were tearing out granite in the bathrooms, replacing drywall, and who knows what else. This went on my ENTIRE stay! I was barely able to sleep at all due to this from 6-7am until about 6 pm. Then, the person staying on the floor above me had three dogs and who knows how many adults and/or kids. Their dogs were very loud running around with ,I’m assuming, an adult, child, or even more dogs. Everyone there that did have dogs (counted 5 people that had one or more animals that I saw myself) none of them were leashed. When I checked in I was told very adamantly that animals are to be kept leashed at all times on the property and to make sure they’re behaved. To me meant not letting them bark all night and run around like the neighbors’ were. On top of this, I had to have both my room door cards (they give two cards as usual) replaced 6 times because after so many uses they quit opening my door and I got locked out each time they’d fail. They changed the prices of my stay at the end after already giving me the final bill with receipt and everything. Then when it came check out time they had to cancel the payment and informed me it would be $87 more. They did not give me a reason either. I asked to talk to the management to try to deal with some of this or notify them so hopefully someone else’s stay wasn’t as awful as mine but was told the manager had left and they didn’t have any idea when they’d be back. This was such a disappointing experience I’d hoped better from the previous things I’ve heard and read. I definitely won’t be going back and if you’re planning to stay in Wasilla at all in the future I’d recommend the Grand View Inn first if you have the chance. If not, I’d search for other better options. I now see there’s many more that’d be better than this...
Read moreThis was a horrible experience. I book over the phone from an internet advertisement, when I called the person on the phone indicated I was talking to “reservations”. I told them I would like a lake view & 2 queen beds. The person I spoke to told me there was a restaurant open until 9pm & bar until midnight. I prepaid over the phone for a room with a view & 2 queen beds. I was told we could check in anytime after 3pm. When we got to the hotel, it was around 10pm. When I checked in, I was told there were no lakeside view rooms available, nor did I get a room with 2 queen beds. The only room available was a single queen bed with a parking lot view. This place was a dump, they brought a roll away bed to the room. They asked me to show them the reservation & when I showed them the e-mail confirmation they told me a booked through a third party and there was nothing they could do. There is no restaurant or bar, it’s been closed for 10 years. I spoke to the manager a week later & she said that I should have called the hotel directly...I thought I did. I was told it was an “industry standard” to have other parties booking rooms. When I spoke to the manager, they took no accountability based on my argument of what I paid for & what I got were 2 different things because I booked through a 3rd party. I live 40 miles South of this hotel, I would not recommend it. I wanted a nice “staycation” and I got a parking lot view & a roll away bed. It was musty & overpriced. The property itself sits on a beautiful lake & the grounds are well kept. I thought about rolling the “roll away”bed onto a large outside deck...that was the designated...
Read moreWe normally stayed here when we go to Anchorage, most of the time it's great experience. | However, On August 3rd, coming from the airport traveling back to FBX without Reservation. We stopped by for last minute if they have a room for the night. I noticed the parking lot was not "full" thinking we can get it in for the night. |As I approached the front desk the receptionist, I noticed she was at her phone or maybe doing some paperworks. I asked if there's an available room for the night. She looked at me (like she's really annoyed that I disturbed her Candy Crush game, just saying). she looked at me like she was upset or something, she said "NO, we do not" |My answer was "Really" like I said the parking lot wasn't full. And she continues, "oh I just gave the last room like 20 minutes ago sorry". So I'm like ok, "sorry for disturbing your game" and I walked out of the facility. |I understand that if you don't have any available rooms, but don't be snotty to customers. You wrk at the FOH, actually representing the company. | Bottom line is, we never had a bad experience when we stayed here, people are always friendly & accomodating, I am also a member of BW. That is...
