We didn't even sleep here it was that bad.
Wouldn't refund my money even though the ground floor window wouldn't lock.
Checked in a little after 4pm to be told our room wasn't ready. Normally I don't care except we had to be somewhere shortly and our child had to get ready. They let us into the room where our daughter was to sleep on a pull out couch. The couch was gross and the edge seams were ripped and worn. The cushions didn't even seem to fill the covers, appears to be quite old and worn.
I check out the windows and locks because - safety. The bedroom window had the screen popped out but placed in there haphazardly. It was also ripped. There was a chair sitting outside the window like someone goes in and out of the window for some odd reason. Then I realized the window wouldn't even lock. I couldn't get it to latch, tried multiple times.
The jetted tub had cracks in it and mold around the framing. No I had no plans of using that fesspool of germs but still should be noted how rundown everything was in there.
We grabbed the stuff we took in and ended up going back to the front desk and told them we didn't feel safe being there without a locking window. The guy got the manager lady, she got rude and said I won't get a refund so we left and went to a better hotel that really only cost us about $50 more.
As we were leaving we noticed the guy who had previously been smoking right outside in the porte in a bathing suit and towel, was the same guy pushing trash to the dumpster in the same outfit.
Our check in was back in June. I had just decided to call to talk with someone about the condition of this place and the manager told customer service I was lying and that their place was in good condition. So I said wait, I have photos of our 15 minutes in that room before we heck no'd right out of there. I'll share the pictures here, you be the judge if you think this place is worth...
Read moreThis hotel is scamming people out of their money and stay. I booked my stay through Travelocity and everything went fine. I got confirmation that my stay was booked and was charged $188 by the hotel. After flying from Washington state we finally arrived at the hotel to check in, only for the woman behind the desk (an older lady with long brown/gray hair) to tell us we have no reservation at the hotel. she told us there's nothing she will do and it's Travelocity's problem,. I called Travelocity and they were very helpful and did their best to figure it out for us. They sent the hotel the confirmation again and called the same employee we had talked to at the hotel to confirm our stay. The employee was short with them and refused to give any refund and said its not her problem. Eventually Travelocity took the losses and refunded us our money. I was reading through other reviews and this is extremely common with this hotel to magically "never have received" a booking and not care to try and help solve the situation. so either they need to fix their computers or one of the employees is pocketing the money for these "never received" bookings. I highly recommend avoiding this hotel. Also, just based off of the lobby its extremely outdated, dirty and smells of cigarette smoke.
Just down the road is the Country inn and Suites and they are spectacular. Very clean, friendly, accommodating and...
Read moreThe good first: The staff did work to be helpful. I was treated well and received help regardless of the shift or time of the day. They worked with me to change me to another room.
Now the negative: Unfortunately, the treatment was not enough to offset the rest. The beds are HORRIBLE. My wife says that I will sleep even on stone, and these were very unconfortable - possible the worst I have experienced in my life. The floor of both rooms had crumbles and dirt by the edges, as if they were not cleaned. The bathtubs were not very clean. They had some stains and the corners/edges had some mold. There was an unpleasant smell overall in the hotel.
I remember staying at other Howard Johnson hotels in the past. They were never luxurious, but they were comfortable and clean. The condition of this hotel amounts to a price that should be not higher than $70 per night, maybe $85 per night for the suite. Personally, I would not pay more than $50 per night. I did not want to even have the breakfast that was included, and coming back to the hotel after being out for the day was depressing. It is a shame because with the staff they have the hotel would be pretty good if the housekeeping and the actual rooms were in better shape.
I will definitely avoid staying at any other Howard Johnson hotels in the near future and likely for...
