My wife reserved a room for last minute change of plans. We had to come back to Waupun for her father’s funeral. We were going to stay with family, but something happened less than 12 hours before we had planned to leave from our home in another state. My was born and raised here. We even had stayed at the hotel before. I was looking on line the same time my wife was, because she called me during two of my kids school concert. She reserved a room told me she had it taken care of. I called the hotel back less than 3 minutes after she sent my the reservation. I wanted to upgrade to a suite since it was just like $11 dollars more. Due to our last minute change we had to bring our teacup poodle. I asked if it was possible to upgrade if they allowed it. They only allowed pets in the regular two queen bed rooms. I saw that they had ones with jetted tubs. It wasn’t a big deal really but since was same price , I asked if it could be switched even though we had the dog. I was informed yes they had one room with a jetted tub that they allowed ones with pets in. She confirmed she changed the rooms. The cost was the same along with $30 per night charge for a pet. I checked in with no problems at the desk they had the reservation checked in without a hitch Pulled van to the side my son got luggage cart. And we made two trips with luggage and other items we brought. The cart is just a basic cart so if you have things other than big flat suitcases it might be easier to just carry in by hand since the cart doesn’t have any hooks or anything to secure bags so consider just carrying stuff in. After unpacking I noticed the bathroom had small standard tub the tub was no more than13” from the ground. The caulk in the tub does have some orangey tinge to it, but it could be the grout I won’t say it is definitely mold or mildew. The beds are advertised as two queens they are full at best. In 5’6”. I don’t have a tape measure, but a queen is 60” or 5’. I measured with my body on the floor, putting the heel of my foot to the edge of the bed to the other it should have at the very least been around my chin. It ended below my neck. The beds aren’t really comfortable but that is minor they don’t state they will be comfortable. The pillows for the beds aren’t even standard size pillows they are square pillows basically like a couch pillow.. when’s I went to the desk to see if could at least get some more pillows I got one more square pillow. I decided to ask why I didn’t receive the room I reserved. I checked on Expedia it has the same amount of available rooms as the evening before. I explained there female receptionist knew about the dog there was no surprising. She started to say she didn’t know maybe they meant it was one of the upper floors. I informed her that she stated it couldn’t be one of the upper floors it had to be a ground floor one which she switched out room to. The night help don’t give an explanation or even apologize. I left a2 star because at least for the most part it’s not that dirty that I can see. I may change that when the sun comes out. Hopefully breakfast isn’t that bad. I’ve stayed at worse hotels with cockroaches crawling everywhere but I didn’t pay the price I paid their I knew what I was getting.I’m old school you screw up you apologize even if you can’t change it and if you say you do something or provide something you do it. It just made a bad situation circumstance with him passing even worse. I’m just glad I didn’t have one of my friends use their points to pay...
Read moreWe stayed in three different AmericInn hotels during our little vacation this summer. This one was definitely not the best. First, we booked with this chain because they are pet-friendly. We have one 18 pound pup who is super well-behaved (he’s almost a therapy dog). Someone came up behind us while checking in, so he barked at them because he was startled. The woman at the front desk, who was extremely rude the whole time we were here, made a snide comment about how she hoped nobody would complain about our dog. You’re a PET-FRIENDLY HOTEL. Dogs bark sometimes. Babies cry and scream, too, and I hope she wasn’t making similar comments about people’s children. Our dog was so good while we were here, and he’s hypoallergenic, so he doesn’t even shed and get hair everywhere. We had to pay a pet fee, which is no big deal, but neither of the other two hotels we stayed at made us pay a pet fee. The room was nice enough, but it was definitely dirty. Not to mention that we specifically requested one king bed and got two instead. Not a huge deal, but this place was empty while we were here. There were actual dirt stains on the shower wall and hair that was definitely not ours. There was also pet fur in the carpet (at least I hope it was pet fur) and base boards. The towels were in terrible shape (one thread away from giant holes), and it was just an all-around disappointing stay. I came in once carrying three bags, my dog’s leash, and some pizza. I was greatly struggling but stopped to ask the front desk for some toilet paper, since there was none in our room and the rolls were almost empty. I told her our room number (which was the closest one to the desk) and went to our room because I was having a hard time balancing everything and had no more hands. She came to give me the toilet paper and snidely stated that she didn’t expect me to “disappear” on her. Our room was five feet from the desk. All in all, this was disappointing, and it was NOT worth the money. I sincerely hope they clean up better next time and get a new desk worker. I didn’t even feel comfortable complaining because she was so dismissive and rude!!!! Such a huge bummer, since our stay at the one previously was so wonderful. Also, not for nothing, but the wifi and internet was horrible! It barely worked 50% of the time, so don’t plan on working while you’re here. Steer clear of this one; there are plenty of...
Read moreThis is LONG overdue and for that I apologize. My 12 year son and I were traveling from central Illinois up to Green Bay to take in a Packers game this past December, staying the night in Appleton. About 60 miles short of our destination for the night, we hit a deer and it did quite a bit of damage to our vehicle. We limped it down the road in freezing rain and one headlight when the temperature gauge begin to creep up. We pulled into a drive and the man who lived there let us wait for the tow truck and then offered us a ride into Waupun at 7:00 pm. We were able to get a room at AmericInn in Waupun, but still had to figure out a way to get to the game. No car rental places open and no taxi or Uber in the area that I could find. I asked Andrew, the General Manager on duty, if he knew of any transportation we get and he said he would make some calls. About 30 minutes later he called and said that he would be staying overnight due to the freezing rain and that he lived in between Waupun and Appleton and would be happy to take us there in the morning so that we could get a rental car. This caused him to drive over 40 miles out of his way to help out two complete strangers. My son went from bitter disappointment to being super excited for the game again. I will be forever grateful for Andrew’s compassion and caring. It turned a disaster into a trip of a lifetime. Thank you, Andrew! I will never forget the kindness...
