Average Hotel Experience with Some Inconveniences
I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately, my experience was just average. While it had some positive aspects, there were a few significant issues that impacted my overall impression.
Let's start with the positives. The location of the hotel was convenient and easily accessible. The staff at the front desk were friendly and efficient during check-in, which was a smooth process. The room I stayed in was decently sized and reasonably clean. However, these positive aspects were overshadowed by several notable negatives.
Firstly, the mini fridge in my room was extremely loud. It emitted a constant and disruptive noise throughout the night, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep. This was highly disappointing, as a peaceful and comfortable environment is one of the main expectations when staying at a hotel.
Moreover, one of the elevators was out of order during my stay. There were no signs indicating its status, leading to unnecessary confusion and inconvenience. It would have been helpful if that had properly communicated so people can plan accordingly.
Another notable drawback was the lack of a designated area for guests to drive up to for check-in. Most hotels offer this convenience, but unfortunately, this one did not. It would have been much more convenient to have a drop-off area near the entrance, especially when carrying luggage or during inclement weather. Accessing the hotel from the end of the building was not ideal.
Despite booking a non-smoking room, the entire hotel reeked of cigarettes. It needs to be noted for some, that this hotel contains a Casino, so when booking expect the rooms to have that smell.
In conclusion, while this hotel had its positive aspects such as a convenient location and friendly staff, the negatives significantly impacted my...
Read moreBad experience. Upon check-in, they had attitude and did not smile. Tried putting us in a room with construction outside the window and so we had to switch. I had a complimentary night but thought they were waiving the upgrade fee. She used the word, "free" and did not say "it will just be an additional $65.00" or have me sign anything. Answered front desk telephone by different names then saying that's the name of a dealer in the casino. Told front desk about our bad experience and they tried to give us dinner coupons at first. She then said that she would waive the $65.00 fee (which they did not tell us about). Housekeeping walked in though we had a privacy sign on the door. No child lock on the window. That could be dangerous. Windows VERY dirty, probably from the construction. Jacuzzi coming on and off, then wouldn't turn off. Maintenance had to come and turn off the jacuzzi and empty out the water containing my expensive bath salt. We had to wait for a couple of hours for the new part he installed to dry before using the jacuzzi again. Vents in the bathroom are supposedly silent connected to a large fan. Doesn't look like it works to me or the tissue would have stuck to the vent. Strange small spot on our top white sheet explained by laundry machine burning top sheets causing these spots. Said they were contacting engineers to fix the problem. Top gold comforter was very wrinkled. Spots on it too. Vents on air conditioner dirty. Dust on the lamps. Damages in the room. Coffee lid falls off pot when trying to pour. Dresser not cleaned (looks like soda). Fridge was extremely loud. Fiance had to ask for olives in his virgin Mary at the bar. They gave us late check-out on a positive note. See more photos...
Read moreThe rooms are average, but definitely overpriced. I paid nearly $400 for 2 nights in a room that, anywhere else, may have been $90/ night ($180 for 2 nights). The hotel staff was adequate, but average... nothing special. I believe that if you are in the hospitality industry, it is incumbent upon you to make your guests feel special... as if they were the only guest in your faculty. This was not the case at The Peppermill. While I dint have anything, necessarily, negative to say about the Peppermill staff, I don't have any praise for them either. Nobody there seemed to (want to) go above, let alone beyond. We felt like customers but not like valued customers. I'd also point out that their no housekeeping policy is decidedly disappointing. As guests who stayed multiple nights, we would most certainly have appreciated clean towels, emptied waste baskets, and perhaps fresh bed linens, daily. This doesn't happen at the Peppermill. Bare in mind, there is written notification of this policy, in the room, and is apparently related to health safety, but could someone please explain why it would be healthier, or more cost effective, for the hotel, to have housekeeping come and clean a room with full waste baskets, in need of fresh linens, and which had been unattended for several days, resulting in more work for housekeeping, rather than stopping by for 10 min/day to provide those services? For $190/night, I expect those things. Rather disappointed in the Peppermill,...
