What a wonderful location, friendly staff, and relaxing stay! We had a king bed room with an ocean view for less than $130 a night! Spent some time researching places to stay on the WA coast and fell on the charming city of Westport. We wanted something walkable to the beach, possibility of a pool (altho we didn't end up using it), good wifi for my partner to do some remote work, and even a little bit romantic, all on a tight budget. And we found that at the Chateau Westport! Many reviews talked about it being dirty and old. Yes, it's old. Yes, it is in need of repairs and had its prime about 30 years ago... But other than old stains on the thin carpet, we didn't find it dirty. The bed was very comfortable (we slept super well) and very clean sheets, towels, and bathroom I also see people talking about noise. This was one of the quieter hotel stays I've ever had. it was beyond peaceful to keep the window open at night and the only sound was the distant waves. No traffic noises at all! Wow! Of course we were there on a Sunday and Monday night late August. But no loud guests stomping in the mornings, no banging doors, or kids running the halls. Almost no other guests noises at all. The real perk is the amazing grounds and location! 5 minute direct walk to a beautiful sandy beach (I read on the beach while my partner worked in the room). If you have kids (or just like to play), there's basketball, full volleyball court, horseshoes, disc golf, and a playground! Plus an inside game room with NBAJam and Pacman, foosball and ping pong! We didnt go to the pool, and yes the hot tub is closed, but it looked nice and saw other swim. You can tell I liked the place and wanted to make surey review balanced out some of the negative ones. Only giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because it is in need of renovations, but we would hands down stay again and again!

We chose to stayed here this weekend since there wasn’t a lot of options in town that looks decent and fair prices. If you’re looking for a place close to the beach access (one block from the hotel), kids play ground area, picnic table with fire pit all in the back of the hotel, hot tub and swimming pool(both needs major updates), and their breakfast wasn’t all that great with limited choices. If you want to do clamp digging then they do have the equipment to rent it out to you for $10 per day. The only things I would suggest them was to take out the two lamps above the bed(my head almost hit those lamps too many time trying to get out of bed), the tv were too small and sitting low from the bed can’t hardly, and fix/update the pools. Our room phone wasn’t even working for us to dial out. The pillows sucked. That’s why I’m giving this hotel a two stars rating. Also, they won’t let you check in till 4pm since they told us most people check out at noon so it will take them that long to get into your room. Other than that, it’s a good location nearby the beach

I have seen some of the reviews for the Chateau. And I must say this, people that lie about their experience at a place because they didn't get away with something, and were trespassed, but repeatedly returned .I guess karma will catch up to you. For all the rest of you, here is my honest review. The place is amazing. Although it needs updating on a few things and is a bit pricy, it is actually a cozy and place to stay. They are working on the updating, and the price, well you are paying for the view/location. They have an indoor pool, but at the moment it is not available. I hope they do remedy this asap. Because a lot of regulars miss it. The staff are always extremely polite and helpful. And will do whatever in their power to accommodate guests. Sometimes things go wrong, such is life, but all in all, they do what they can to make things right. Honestly, I love this place. I only gave 4 stars, because of the pool. 😂 UPDATE: I have been informed that the pool will be available again on April 1st !! Yay!

After giving the hotel manager time to respond & getting zero response, I feel I have to share the experience my daughter and I had recently. This was our first stay in over 5 years, however, not our first stay. We've stayed there several times in the past-always having had a good experience. We stayed 8/12-14 after a grueling 7 hour (per our usually 4hr trek)a highly congested drive w/several road closures. We were exhausted when we finally reached our destination. We arrived at about 8pm.After getting into our room, we find that there are no blankets,no comforter & no pillows in our room which has a Murphy bed.Just sheets I call down to the front desk & am told that I could come down there & pick up pillows & a blanket but that they don't have a comforter. To say I was a little annoyed is putting it mildly. Why on Earth should I have to go & retrieve from the front desk what should customarily be supplied in my room? But down I go so that I may get ready for bed.I notice that there appears to be a leak & that the toilet isn't flushing but figure I'll deal with that in the morning.I finally get settled in for the night at about 11pm only to be abruptly woken up at about midnight by a group of guests carrying on,drunk & loud outside my patio door, swearing & cackling.I give them about 20 minutes before I have had enough & call down to the front desk.I was assured they would take care of it.About an hour later, since the noise and carry-on was STILL carrying on,I call once again. They tell me they will go talk to them.Did they ever follow thru the first time? They managed to get them to come inside but alas the noise continued as they were next door. At some point, due to I'm sure pure exhaustion,I fell asleep. This carryon went til close to 3am.The guests upstairs were early risers & sounded as tho they were coming thru the ceiling at just after 6am.Needless to say, we got next to no sleep. So up I get, tired as I was.Tried to log on-their WiFi is a JOKE! I let the front desk know I was NOT impressed & that they needed to fix the toilet & the sink leak in the bathroom as it leaked badly & was very slippery. I chose not to comment about the carpet having spots or that the room was not overly clean They were going to send a man right over & I told them no-wait until 11am as my daughter is very tired & is trying to regain the sleep she was unable to get last night. What do they do?Just prior to 10am, they send him to our room. The staff there, as nice as they are, just do NOT listen.Thankfully she was up & just out of the shower but come on, we're the guests-put your listening ears on!!My daughter was told that he fixed the toilet but needed parts for the sink leak.Well, it did flush however now it ran 24/7-more annoying than it simply not flushing. I decided to use the hot tub & to do so during the last hour of the "adult" time only to find a bunch of 18 year olds in there hooting & hollering, rough housing in the pool. There was NOTHING quiet about that. When I made mention to the front desk when she came in to tell us we had 10 min left, I was informed that if they were adults there was nothing they could do.Really? I worked for Wyndham for 6 years & that is simply NOT true.I currently work for the Walt Disney Company & I can tell you unequivocally we would NEVER allow our guests to feel so ignored. The 2nd night was quieter but NOT quiet & hot-NO AC! My 2nd trip to the hot tub was to a luke-warm tub-MAYBE 80 degrees at best.We went there for relaxation & it was anything but.At check-out, due to my many issues, I was given a card for $25 off a future night. Are you kidding me?Do you really think I would subject myself to your hotel again? I paid over $200 a night after taxes. At that price, I should have at least been entitled to a good night's sleep. Alas I was not at all impressed but rather insulted.I let the manager know by way of the "thanks for staying with us" email.Clearly generic. And clearly no one reads what you send back to them.Another colossal waste of my...

Chateau Westport is AHHHHMAZING!!!!!! I experienced the BEST customer service from the moment I walked in the door, until I had to leave two days later. Everything was SO perfect! Fresh coffee and tea is available in the lobby, at all hours and it included several different flavored creamers. Freshly popped popcorn available in the lobby every evening. I was not able to make it to the continental breakfast because this was my little doggies first road trip and she was kind of scared....did not want to leave her alone to go get breakfast. There was a nice sized fridge and microwave in my room, so I brought food with me so that I would not have to leave her alone in the room. Great water pressure and no issues with water going from hot to scalding when taking my showers. Had read there was issues with the internet and was prepared for that....NO WAY...I had my laptop and never once experienced any internet issues!!! Cell phone service was a bit spotty inside the hotel. Go outside or stay close to a window when on your phone. I gave the hotel # with room # to anyone that may need to contact me in case of an emergency. Guests with pets, for obvious reasons, need to stay on the first floor. Room 119...I had a great view of the ocean....not as good as 2nd, 3rd or 4th floor, but I could see the ocean, the waves and the ocean spray!! I have already told my family and friends they have to stay here……really….this place is just the BEST! I normally do not leave reviews....but!!!!!!! I always read reviews before visiting most establishments and others reviews heavily influence my decision to visit or not. I have now decided that I will start leaving reviews to help others make their decisions. I got an order to go from the Original House of Pizza....I ordered the Stuffed Taco Sandwich with a cup of clam chowder....it was VERY good and great customer service.

I wanted to stop by Merinos Seafood in town, but every time I drove by there was no close parking available (good sign that it was a great place) or everyone was using that parking to visit the aquarium  But, I needed to park close enough to keep any eye on my little doggie, so was not able to visit there this time.

I did stop by Bay City Sausage on my way out of town, when I headed home. I had read their story on the internet while checking out different places the hotel had listed in their local guide/attraction list they have in their guest rooms. Oh my.....I spent a bit more than I thought I would in this little place, but got some goodies for my dad. Gotta slow down or you will drive right by it, AND....to be perfectly, honest....I remember passing it on my way to Chateau Westport, on Friday....just thought it was a dumpy little place in the middle of nowhere. LOL!! Well, so glad I took some time to check them out on the internet. Again, customer service was amazing! I told the gal I had no idea what I wanted, but loved the story I had read on the internet the night before. She gave me some samples and told me what their best sellers are, what had just came off the smoker the day before and what was coming off the smoker in the next hour. It is a tiny little place....but pretty sure they would not have stayed in business this long, if they didn't have some amazing smoked sausage, cheese, pepperoni, etc.! I could have spent way more $$$$ if I didn't have a little doggie watching my every move through my cars front window and making sure I could see her shaking :-)

Thank you so much Chateau Westport Resort for an amazing stay. Your customer service was absolutely the best, ever! I felt welcomed like family, from the check in time until I left. I didn’t use the Keurig in my room because the coffee in the lobby was soooo good.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, CHATEAU WESTPORT RESORT….YOU ARE ALL AMAZING!!!!!

Looking forward to my...

Subject: Heartbroken After 20 Years - $335 Charge for CRAB SHELLS properly disposed of in a provided kitchenette garbage bag from the hotel & the Manager Hung Up On Me

I am writing this review with profound sadness and disbelief. Château Westport has been my cherished getaway. I've loved this quiet cove in town, always rented a kitchenette, and faithfully supported local gems like Brady's and Bay City Sausage. I've enjoyed the beaches and prided myself on being a respectful guest.

The entire point of renting that kitchenette was to cook the wonderful local seafood Westport is known for – especially crab dinners, clams, and bacon & egg breakfasts. It's been a core part of my tradition for decades.

This stay, however, destroyed that tradition and my loyalty.

Upon checkout, management charged me an outrageous $335. Their reason? For leaving a single small kitchen garbage bag in the waste basket provided by them within the kitchenette I rented. The contents? My normal food waste, including crab shells from crabs bought at Brady's.

Let that sink in: $335 for disposing of crab shells in the hotel's own trash can, in the kitchenette I paid to use.

When I spoke to the manager to dispute this unreasonable charge: She falsely claimed she had "pictures of fish." There was NO fish. I don't eat fish. It was crab and clams – the very essence of Westport's local fare. She hung up on me mid-conversation. This level of disrespect to a more than decades-long guest is appalling.

This charge is indefensible: What is the point of renting a kitchenette in Westport if you cannot cook and dispose of the waste from the town's famous seafood?

Charging $335 for the provided small kitchenette garbage bag of normal food waste, seafood shells, is simply punitive and exploitative.

My heartbreak is immense. I have over a decade of wonderful memories here, now irrevocably tainted. Because of this experience and the management's appalling response:

Unfortunately, I will NEVER return to Château Westport. I am actively disputing the $335 charge with my credit card company. I STRONGLY advise anyone considering renting a kitchenette here to enjoy Westport's local crab, clams, or other cuisine: BYPASS THIS HOTEL COMPLETELY. You risk being hit with similarly outrageous, unexpected fees for using the facility as intended.

The Château Westport has shown a complete disregard for loyalty, reason, and basic customer service. What a devastating end to what was once a...
