Westport RV and Motel in Westport WA. This RV park is owned by RV Inn Style, owners Michael and Denise Werner.
We found the place online, looked at photos and reviews and decided to book 2 rv spaces and one motel room. The website posted a list of rules for the rv park and made it sound like we would really enjoy
Some of the rules and what we found when we arrived at the park.
We knew that there were monthly rentals, but we were not told that there were grandfathered in RV's that don't have to follow the rules of the park and are year round.
The pool in the photos was so clean and fresh. The photo I have shows just a glimpse. The table and wall that you see is mildewy. A random brick is laying on the ground. Paint is peeling on the inside. Pool toy and umbrella on the ground. The paint on the outside of the pool is peeling and unkept.
The photos of the play area for the kids in the brochure doesn't show that it is very old and that it sets less than 10' from the front door of a fulltime rv. Just not a safe place for our grandkids (ages 2, 7, 9, 9) to play.
The website states that there is no smoking on the premises. When we got out to look around at the park, there was a guy smoking marijuana. We do not partake in that and don't want to have our family around this.
We did not feel like we could safely leave our rv's at the park while we went to Westport to the shops and beach.
We were told when we called that we could have a campfire and that there were firepits at our spaces. There were no fire rings or picnic tables.
The park was not maintained. There was grass/dandelions to our knees in the spaces we were supposed to use.
We had rented one rv space for my husband, 9 year old grandson and myself, the other rv space for my sister, her husband and my 81 year old mom, and the motel room was for my daughter, her husband, 2 year old son, 7 year old son and 9 year old daughter.
The owner said that she could move us to two new spots but they wouldn't be together. We declined, that doesn't change any problems there were with park. We didn't want our daughter's family staying there either.
We called around for a place that would accommodate all of us. We didn't want to be in two different locations. We got lucky to find Tidelands Resort in Copalis and were able to rent a cabin and 2 rv spaces.
I called RV Inn Style call center as we were standing at the rv park. I talked to Sarah at the call center. She had me send photos and took my statement. She called back and left a voicemail (see screenshot) and said that the owner would not refund any of our money and if I had any questions to call back. I called Monday, July 21 at 8:18am, and left another message with the call center asking to speak to a manager or supervisor. I was informed that someone would call me back. I waited 2 days and no return call. I called again on July 24. I was told by the call center that there would be no refund and that there wasn't anybody I could talk to.
We all feel like they totally misrepresented the rv park and motel. The photos below show what we found when we arrived and the pretty photos are what...
Read moreRoom looked just like pictures, clean beds and couch. Problems: No fan for the bathroom so the whole room smelled very musty and stale. Current owner is very unfriendly and pugnacious. When we drove in, he was telling a customer how to drive in one side and drive out on the other side by the office. That was my first clue that maybe this is not where I might want to be. Since we have already booked the room and we like Westport, we checked in.
New owner asked us about dogs and how many nights we are staying. I told him 1 night and two dogs. He asked us to sign the receipt and check in. We gladly did. We forgot to take our receipt and new owner came out to hand us the receipt. New owner is very nice and friendly.
The same guy who told the driver how to enter and exit turned his attention on us and told us we need to pay for dogs. I thought we already did when we told the new owner we have 2 dogs and staying 1 night. The guy in his broken English told us no; we did not pay. I didn't want to bother with him and so just ignored him and walked away. He continued to badger us.
New management came and said to us that he is sorry he made a mistake and we need to pay $30 extra for the dogs. We don't mind doing that so we handed him $30 cash. That's when he said, "No, it's $30 per dog per night." I immediately said to him, "I am not paying that because I paid full price on Travelocity already and it did not mention $30 per pet per night. I am not paying 2 nights for 1 night. He can cancel the reservation. I know I can go to my bank and dispute this if he won't.
He said he will go see what he can do to work this out. He is the new owner but that transaction has not closed yet so he has to obey the current owner yet. I told him we are reasonable but not paying extra $60 extra. He said how about $30. I told him fine.
I checked out the business registration, I can see why the former owner is not doing well and need to sell. Owner has been delinquent since 2015 and dissolution as of 07/03/2018. I sure hope the new owner will do a lot better and become more pets and...
Read moreWhere to start! Got there, lady in office, while very nice had been there 5 days with basically no training evident. Did not know a whole lot about the RV park. I booked by phone with a man who assigned us RV site #5. They, the lady and a young girl took us to #5 and said we could just pull thru even though it was not a pull thru site. So we pulled thru and the sewer was on the wrong side so they suggested I run it under the trailer. That's not the disaster but it could of been. Sewer line under the trailer? Do people do that?|| So we drove around to the other side to pull in so the sewer line was on the right side of the trailer. And...... We got wedged between a telephone pole and the electrical box! There was no room to maneuver. If we backed up we would be in someone's landscaping which we did once until the lady of the house came out and totally freaked. I finally, after probably 15 tries, powered through, ripped my awning up pretty bad and broke off the awning end cap.|| My wife and I separately went and apologized to the homeowner. She cooled down and said they should not have assigned us that site. She said a previous visitor had actually backed over her fence trying to get in that site. So I went to inform the office what had happened, they came out, took pictures and said they would get back to us. They did. Not their problem!|| The next morning we were told we had to move. They put us in the wrong site. So we packed up and moved. Actually it was a much better site. We were away from the full time patrons who live in the campground and want to know your business. || We are not fans of this RV/Vacant lot they call a campground! Do yourself a favor and don't stay here. There are a lot of other options. We were waiting for our site to become available at Grayland State Park. That is the only reason we tried...
