Our hotel experience was good the first night we stayed the room was nice, but there were some very noisy neighboring people. The coffee was good, and the beds were nice. Only improvement I'd have for the beds are slightly better pillows, and I would like if the sheets were replaced every 2 days instead of 3. They had a moderately nice tv with the normal channels which was pretty good. They had free Wi-Fi or you could pay 5 dollars a day for better internet. The lobby was nice had a good atmosphere, and a very plesent smell of vanilla very light not overwhelming. They had a moderately nice gym think it could of had some more equipment though. The largest rule that was broken was letting peoples kids roam, and run around without supervision even though they rules clearly stated no child under 18 running around unsupervised. The rooms had an electronic lock that you opened by placing your card up to the circle on the door which I found very interesting. They also had a door stop, and an additional lock for added security which was nice. They had a mini fridge could of been a little larger. They also had a few conference rooms and one was being used for church which was nice to have the option to go to church in the hotel. They had a pretty good breakfast normally $12 a person ours were complementary. They also had lunch and dinner and they had a bar which was open till 11 pm which I found nice because it wasn't open to late so you didn't have people coming up to their room late at night yelling and slamming doors. The pool was nice the first night but the second night it wasn't there were some parents of a baseball team letting their children run a muck they were screaming splashing soaking everything doing front flips and diving and throwing things running bringing food in. I had to complain but the only thing that was done was our breakfast was comped. I think more should of been done or we should of had a better compensation for the inconvenience. Especially since they were almost hitting other guests while jumping in, and throwing a bouncy ball the parent of these children said "ive been watching them the whole time They haven't done anything wrong". Even though they were breaking most of the rules. She broke a rule as well she left her children unattended and when she finally came in to watch them she was inebriated and drinking a glass bottle at the pool. Honestly I would of gave this establishment a better review but the fact they did nothing when these children were endangering guests and themselves. The other thing that would of been nice would of been if the ice machine on the second floor wasn't out of...
Read moreHaving spent part of my career in the hospitality sector, I can be very discerning when staying at a hotel because I know what guests should expect but also can quickly recognize things that are amiss. The HGI at IUP is nearly perfect. ||The property is well maintained inside and out. Didn't see any worn out FF&E plus the public areas were very clean. Staff was engaging and friendly especially housekeeping which spoke to us while still working at 5:30 or so when they asked if we needed anything to make our stay special. What a nice touch. Since we were traveling with our granddaughter for her orientation at IUP we reserved two connecting rooms. They were as requested. Both were well appointed, immaculately clean and nice and cool on such a hot day. All three of us said the beds were extremely comfortable. Bathrooms weren't missing anything and were very clean. Kudos to housekeeping on a job well done. Breakfast the next morning was equally pleasant. Plenty of selections to choose from and served by an attentive, friendly server. ||This has to be the closest hotel to the IUP campus. In fact the football field is mere steps behind the hotel. While the IUP campus is hilly in spots one can walk to the campus from here. Not sure why anyone would stay anywhere else. Super location. ||While not significant enough to diminish my 5 star rating, there is opportunity for improvement in a few areas:|1. WIFI - phone kept losing connection with the HH wifi network requiring multiple sign ins. Very annoying. And when you're using the app as your room key this is doubly bothersome. Don't experience this at other Hilton properties. |2. App room key - typically these work pretty flawlessly but when I reserved two rooms using just my one phone the app frequently had trouble offering me access to two different rooms at the same time via the app. It worked intermittently and sometimes kept me waiting at the door for it to work. This needs work.|3. Happily I saw at various spots on the 1st floor wall mounted sanitizer stations but to my dismay all were empty. Either use them and keep them filled or remove them if not. ||Nevertheless this is a wonderful property, super clean, closely situated to the IUP campus - can't go wrong. I'll be staying here when I come back to visit my...
