I was passing through town on business and arrived at the motel late. This was the only franchise hotel in town with available rooms (desk clerk Matthew mentioned there was a “plethora of various things going on in town” – perhaps Punxsutawney Phil was hosting a summer party). Matthew greeted me in a friendly and professional manner and quickly got me settled into a room after a whirlwind day of driving and meetings. The room was not hot, but it certainly wasn’t cool either. The AC was running but clearly not functioning efficiently, so I called down and asked Matthew if he could send a fan to my room. He stated he was the only one working but would see if he could find one and bring it up. This was close to midnight. While lying on top of the bed waiting for the fan, I apparently dozed off. At 3 AM, I could no longer tolerate the stifling room, so I went to the front desk. The clerk was extremely friendly and managed to get me into the room next door – finally, a cool room! However, as I walked over to turn on the light by the AC unit, I stepped into a puddle of water just as I touched a lamp that was hanging loose (no, I didn’t get electrocuted, but it was close). The combination of the water puddle and broken lamp was enough to make me realize this was not a viable option. When I went to use the bathroom, I discovered it was infested with what appeared to be small flying insects resembling mosquitoes. At this point, I returned to the front desk and told the clerk I could not stay in that room either. I requested to be checked out immediately with a full refund. He said he would write it up and have the manager handle it Monday morning. Here I am on Tuesday morning, still waiting to hear back. I’ll keep you posted. (P.S. – Choice Hotels corporate offered NO assistance whatsoever when I called them for guidance.) Keep in mind that this is not merely a comfort issue, but a serious safety concern as well. Water (most likely leaking from the nearby AC unit) was pooling near a broken electrical fixture – a potentially dangerous situation that should have been addressed immediately. This experience was completely unacceptable for any establishment, let alone a franchise hotel that should maintain basic safety and cleanliness standards. UPDATE: After numerous attempts I finally got someone to call me back, insinuating I was trying to skip out on a "perfectly good room". She stated I stayed in and used the room too long (?) so WOULD NOT BE REFUNDING ROOM BUT WOULD INSTEAD OFFER ME 10% off my next stay....I "kindly" said that was not acceptable and the call ended. Wednesday afternoon I received an email stating the team would be escalating my claim and would investigate. I will keep you posted to let you know if this time they...
Read moreSince when I'm searching reviews I like as much info as I can get I'll try to provide as much as I can in this review. Stayed at this establishment for the weekend, had their handicap suite which was great. Very clean, neat, updated, two rooms, --TV's in room with bed and TV in room with two sofas#, two bathrooms, one with tub, one with large shower, two heater/air conditioner units. Doors and area were wide enough for my chair which was nice. We had our two small dogs with us --extra fee per dog but well worth it--. Breakfast is great, waffles, sausage or bacon and eggs, lots of other items to choose from. Free coffee or tea 24 hours a day. One of the nicest things was when we checked in they gave us a little bag that said thank you on it and inside was a bottle of water and a bag of corn chips as a welcome gift. Small item I know but the thought was really nice, never had that at any place we've stayed before. Bed was comfortable, pillows a little stiff for our taste but we always take ours along anyways so no problem. Staff very friendly, especially the lady serving breakfast on Sunday morning. Saturday morning we didn't see who was working breakfast but Sunday we felt we were at a sit down restaurant! She asked us if we wanted coffee refills, spent a few moments interacting with all the customers which everyone enjoyed and was very nice and helpful. She's a great asset to the motel! They have a lounge open in the evening --maybe only weekends, I don't know-- which we didn't go to and a work out room. The place was decorated beautifully for Christmas, even the breakfast room, very festive and nice. Easy to get to and lots of restaurants within a few miles --on Oakland Avenue, about two miles from motel--. Wi-Fi was great, we had no problem with it. I would highly recommend this motel. Great...
Read moreI have to say that the Quality Inn met me expectation for the evening that I spent there. It was after Groundhog’s Day and I could tell that the staff looked tired from that as the hotel had been ‘totally booked’ as a staffer told me.||When I returned later that evening to check in, the guy that checked me in could not have been nicer and directed me to park in the as the room was on the other side of the hotel.||The room was clean but looked like something from the past. They have to get rid of those line green bedspreads as they look dated and they could use some updated fixtures.||Still the room was comfortable and I could tell that the mattress was new, the linens were very clean and bed was perfect for a good night’s sleep. I slept wonderfully as it was so relaxing and quiet in the room.||The breakfast room was interesting. We ate on top of an old dance floor. It looked like part of an old ballroom. The breakfast was nice. They had a limited but good choice of cereals, fruit and breads. It looked like the earlier guests had eaten a lot and they did not replenish it like they should have. The sign said they ended Breakfast at nine but they stayed open until ten for us. The woman asked us if we wanted anything else before she closed it.||The waffles were really good as were the breakfast burritos. There could have been more of a choice in the toast and breads.||The check out was flawless and the woman who checked out was very nice||If you can live with a hotel that looked like it had been an old Travelodge in its previous history that is due for a freshening up but still comfortable and welcoming then this is the hotel for you. The price was extremely fair, the staff really nice and a very comfortable bed for sleeping than you are in the right place.|I had...
