Called the hotel before arriving and was told the indoor pool was around 90°. Upon arrival at the hotel after I checked in and got my keyboard, I walked all the way around the building in the cold and got to the door to find out the key card was not working. I tried it several different times all different speeds and ways, no luck. No big deal, not the end of the world.. so I walk all the way back to the front desk where the front desk receptionist re scanned it and got it working properly. So I walked all the way back to the room again and swiped in, the key worked perfectly. As soon as I got into the hotel I tried to shut the door but it wouldn't shut. In order to shut the door I had to swipe the keycard and pull down the door lever. (It's a hassle, but not that big a deal as I'm only there for one night). As soon as I got fully in the room I noticed dirty socks on the ground, so I picked them up with a bag and threw them out( a little unsettling as you don't know if room was cleaned that well) the rest of the room looked ok though.after a little while of unpacking I wanted to go for a swim in the "warm" indoor pool. I got my bathing suit on and walked all the way to the pool. I stuck my foot in and it felt very chilly. The reason I booked this hotel is because they had an indoor pool.. this room is $120 a night opposed to others in the area running about $60 a night.. anyways I was really fixated on swimming, so I jumped in. I tried to move around a lot to warm up but it was just too cold. So I got out after a couple of minutes. Was pretty bummed out I didn't get to swim, bit hey things happen.. after I got back to the room I decided to make some coffee. I opened the top of the coffee machine to realize that it was full of mold.. I've never seen mold that bad in my entire life. I called the front desk and told them about the coffee machine. They sent up a lady, who walked into the room opened the top of the coffee machine and said"oh my God" "I'm so sorry.. then left." I was infuriated. So I called the front desk again and said that I wanted to make a complaint. I told them all the stuff that had happened, they said that the manager comes in after 9:00 a.m. the next day and to speak with her. I said ok. The next morning around 10:00 a.m. I walked to the front desk and asked to speak with the manager to make a complaint, the receptionist ask what the complaint was so I explained the story again. After about 15 minutes waiting they finally got somebody I could speak with(whom was not the manager, and told me manager was not in) After I spoke with them and explained the story yet again, she said that the manager just got in and would get her to talk. I said ok.. another 10 or so minutes went by and she finally came out. The first thing she said is how my inquiry about the pool was inaccurate and how they always test the temperature and keep it around 80 opposed to an appology or acknowledging the other stuff... After she spoke about the pool and how she sorry the key cards didn't work she offered to take $20 off of the bill.. I said that's unacceptable. As we walked to the receptionist desk I started going on about the experience in the hotel room and she said that the other people didn't tell her about the moldy coffee machine or the dirty socksor the dirty socks, after she finally acknowledged that she offered to take $40 off but no more than that, I still felt that was unacceptable. If someone offered me money to stay there that night and I knew that I would have to deal with that stuff I would not taken it. I asked for a number for somebody higher up that I could deal with as I did not feel justice was served on the matter. after I left I called the number and had tons of issues getting somebody on the phone. After about an hour I finally got somebody on the phone and explained the story yet again. They told me somebody would get in contact with me in one week. No more charactes to finish the rest of the very...
Read moreHorrible experience! I was part of a group of 38 people that stayed at this Ramada Inn. Our reservations were made well in advance. As I entered the lobby the first thing I noticed was the heat! It was unbelievably hot. Then we were told there was no elevator. We were group of women that had a lot of luggage. As I turned to go towards our room I saw the computers; all 3 had out of order signs. We entered a large room that had a pool at the far end. I found it to be a very interesting area. I spotted a thermostat on one of the columns and took a look at it. It was 93 degrees in there! My 2 sisters, a friend and I had a room on the second floor. We had to make several trips up the stairs. Let me mention we were not spring chickens. Our group of 38 ranged in age from the mid 50s through 94 years of age. When we open the door to our room, we instantly felt the heat. They had the air conditioners shut off. after we turned our on, it took a good while to get the room cool down. The room was very dated, the bathroom had a new shower, the beds were comfortable enough, but the room was very dingy. we had three towels, two washcloths and no ice bucket in our room. I called the front desk over and over. The phone went straight to a busy signal every time. Finally I used my cell phone and called the hotel number. The phone was answered immediately. I assume that the phone at the front desk that served the hotel guests had been taken off the hook. I requested several towels, a couple of washcloths and an ice bucket. I was told that I needed to come to the desk and get them myself because he was the only person working at the the hotel!!! This hotel knew in advance that our group was coming and did not provide any extra help. Unbelievable! We discovered the ice machine on our floor didn’t work; that required another trip down to the first floor. Our next adventure was to go to the restaurant/bar for dinner. It was a very dimly lit area. From what we observed it appeared that two people were working in that area. I suspect that one of them also did the cooking. We WAITED over 30 minutes to get waited on and at least an hour to get our food. Two of us got hamburgers that were like rubber hockey pucks, two of us did not get our drinks until after our dinner arrived. The woman who waited on all of us was running around like crazy. She was hustling, but one person can only do so much. I would like to list more problems but I’m out of time. I’m sure anyone reading this will get the picture. Oh wait, one more very bad issue, an unlit exit sign in a place that is very...
Read moreThis isn't the newest hotel in Indiania, but it is a decent night's stay at a decent price. Even though nothing stands out as amazing, and it certainly could use some TLC, it's not in bad shape for an older property. It's convenient to IUP (we were visiting), our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, when we were there, the pool was closed for painting, but the pool area and courtyard in general is a nice area and clean. |A few things to consider:|1. Breakfast isn't free. They do charge a fee for breakfast and while we skipped it this time, I've had their breakfast in the past. It wasn't anything spectacular and I've had some "included" breakfasts that were nicer. Honestly, most of the time we don't eat breakfast anyway, so bringing along my preferred yogurt was just right.|2. It's an older hotel. Some areas are well maintained. Others, such as the hallway by our room (back side of the building) need a facelift. Even though the age shows, but staff do their best to keep it clean. (Unfortunately, our room did smell a little musty, but it wasn't overwhelming).|3. Exterior lighting is non-existent. We didn't have any problems or witness any suspicious activity, but this did feel a bit creepy. I really feel this is a big safety issue that needs addressed. I would feel very uncomfortable if my wife/girlfriend/daughter needed to go to the parking lot at night alone. |4. No elevator: Due to a temporary medical condition, traversing stairs was not possible. Because I stayed here before, I knew there wasn't an elevator and requested a first-floor room a few days before our arrival. The staff was accommodating, but the hotel was busy so I would recommend asking early. |5. Bar and Restaurant: Average tired hotel bar. Apparently they do serve food, but the kitchen closed before we arrived. A spot for weary travelers, but definitely not a destination for locals. Some nights they do have live music. (On a Friday night, the kitchen closed at 10, website said 11).||Although I see lots of room for improvement, I am confident in this 3 circle rating. Why? Mostly because it was a decent value in this town and the friendliness of the staff. In other towns it might have been overpriced. Here, this weekend, it was affordable and met the basic standards. If it wasn't for the staff and the value, the rating probably would have been a 2. At the end of the day, the newer (& possibly nicer) properties were significantly more costly. In reality, we just needed a room for a couple good night's sleep. And that's...
