Homestead Motel-East — Hotel in Whitehall

First off, I will address the picture. I had seen prior reviews stating roaches and bed bugs but tonight, this was the only hotel available in the entirety of Columbus so I took a chance.

Well, I should have slept in my car. Between the quarter sized roaches, bed bugs tucked into the mattress folds and the massively rude woman at the counter..

The bugs; I had left to get drinks and came back to roaches the size of quarters walking around the dining area of my room. No wonder the room cost me $97. I was paying for their stay too!!!

The lady at the desk quizzed me on every aspect of my life and then accused me of hiding people in my car and lying about how many people I'd have staying in my room. She did not communicate much to me and seemed she'd rather I had not showed up at all. To an extent, I understand this. East Main motels likely see some crazy characters. I don't blame them for being a little protective but still, the standoffish attitude wasn't a hit for me. I tried to be as respectful as possible as I like to think maybe someone is having a bad day but that's just me giving others excuses.

I was told I had to pay a $10 deposit in cash. When I didn't have the cash and had card only, I could tell she was frustrated with me but she accepted my card for a deposit. I am worried I will not be getting that deposit back as nobody checked my room and how or when I would get it back was never mentioned to me. I will update in 3-5 days if I have gotten my deposit back.

In the end, I'd have gone to motor lodge instead. MUCH cheaper at least. $75 vs $100. $100 to sleep with bed bugs and massive roaches.

I stayed at Red roof plus for a better rate, with better amenities for $30 less.

Unless you have to, just do not go here. Sleep in your car. Save the money. Seriously.

Update, I am covered in bed bugs bites. Great.

Edit; so far, they have not refunded my deposit...

I hate to do this review for this place because the owner is working hard it looks like to keep it going but it was not a great experience! At first we wasn't able to get in because the door locks are funny with the key and then when I walked in the room it smelled like all sorts of death funk, fungi, and mildew attacking your senses. I couldn't take it! The bed was hard. Overall they need to redecorate and remodel. But you get what you pay for and it wasn't expensive I guess they didn't expect to give you much...

I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was. It's right on Main Street with lots of hotel choices on both sides of the street. I definitely chose the right one. Big room with a cozy bed. Fresh and clean. I don't want to say it has the cheapest rates in town because when people hear cheap they think the worst. Rates are inexpensive at $65 a night cash only. The owners are super friendly. If you're in the area this is where you need to stay. It's just like...
