I hate to leave a low review but since I've spoken to others that have had an issue with the same person and nothing has been done, I feel it's necessary. The Inn itself is lovely (which is why I'm giving it a second star), and the gentleman that checked us out in the morning was very pleasant. However, Grayson, checked us in and that was not a pleasant experience. I stay in approximately 12-14 hotels annually (sometimes upward of 20) and I was very disappointed by this young lady. The suite we were supposed to stay in did not have heat so she moved us to a regular King room. When I asked about the price difference, she told me she checked and there was no difference. (I already had it pulled up on my ipad). There was indeed a difference so she tells me, "the price is based on occupancy, so maybe when you booked it there was a difference but not now"...First of all, the room I'm supposed to be in is having issues and you are now down grading me because of something that is not my fault. You should be discounting the rate already. Second, now you want to argue with me. With no apology for the inconvenience. On Christmas eve at 11p.m. No...So I go in as if I am booking a new room and the price actually drops even further than it was already showing me. So she ignores me, continues getting my husbands information, then says, "I double checked and there is a price difference." She settled for the first price difference I saw but didn't acknowledge the even lower price I had pulled up on my ipad. I'm exhausted so I accept it for the time being. THEN, we get to our room. And there's a sticky bottle of lubricant in my nephews bed. So, after my lovely check in experience, I now know my downgraded room hasn't been properly cleaned. The sheets weren't even changed, much less clean. Now the same woman has to come change the sheets. We have to wait on her.
What do I get for all of this? $20 off my stay. Gee, thank you. Since I am actually from Wise County, I visit several times a year and was hoping this would be my new go to place to stay, because again, it is beautiful. I guess I'll stick with...
Read moreWe've stayed at the Inn several times and it has always been a great experience. Sadly, this recent visit missed the mark. We were in town for a family reunion and looking forward to staying at the Inn during our visit. When we arrived, we were given a room on the third floor. Be advised that there is no elevator service to the third floor and the stairs are steep. This was definitely concerning as my husband was recovering from a knee replacement and we were given no information that there was stair only access. The room itself is a renovated attic with a view of the AC units on the roof and a weird cushiony feeling on the shower floor that does not feel secure. These things were disappointing but not a deal breaker. The most concerning part of this stay...I overlooked an expensive and well loved shirt hanging on the inside of the bathroom door when we left to return back to our home. As soon as I realized I left the shirt, I contacted the hotel to see if I could come back and pick it up as we were still in the area. I was told by the person that answered my call that she would check the room to see if she could find it and she would call me right back. She never called and we had to head back to Nashville with no response from the hotel. I called the hotel the next three days in a row and was told every time that someone would call me back, no one ever has. This room was almost $200.00 for one night. The accommodations were subpar and the dishonesty is unacceptable. We are so disappointed...
Read moreI love The Inn at Wise, don't get me wrong. But I grew up here, so I know The Inn from the 60s and 70s. Today, I'm delighted with the restoration that took forever. The one thing i must comment on is the poor quality food. Back in the day, everyone went to The Inn after church on Sunday for the large buffet. Delicious Southern food, topped off with their famous 'Peach of a pie" abounded. That was not resurrected when The Inn was. In fact the last few times I've come to Wise, I have eaten there in the hopes that the restaurant(s) staffs had gotten their acts together. They haven't. The food remains plain, tasteless, lukewarm at best, unimaginative, and hardly Southern (Lord, can't you make a decent biscuit)? The coffee is so weak you can see the bottom of the cup. Now that, I cannot abide. Yes, I fear for The Inn. GOOD FOOD IS ESSENTIAL, PARTICULARLY IF YOU'RE MARKETING YOURSELF AS A GOOD OLE-FASHIONED SOUTHERN INN. Next time i come through Wise, I'll time it so i can have dinner at Roma's. What I'll do for a decent cup of coffee, not to mention breakfast,...
