We stayed three nights, during off-season, in the Storm Petrel room. The online imagery for the room is out of date; for example, the jacuzzi and fireplace are different from those pictured.

The Fireside has a good location, right by the ocean and near a lovely hiking trail, clean and attractive rooms, friendly service, and lovely views of the waves and seagulls from the oceanside wing.

That said, it is not the best for sleepers who are sensitive to noise or light; the pipes are very noisy, and it is all too easy to hear footsteps and movement from the room above. Several of the electric devices have lights that are on all the time, unless you cover them or unplug the devices. Additionally, the small window by the front door would benefit from a curtain, as the outdoor light shines through it at night.

If you visit in the off-season, you can expect maintenance. In our case, they were paving the parking lot right by our room for about eight hours, until 7PMish. Luckily, we were out most of the day.

They emphasize their pet-friendliness, and there certainly were a LOT of dogs in the area. The trail along the coastal cliffs was very popular with dog-walkers, as well as hikers.

The beds are subjective; to us the King was too soft, and so were the many pillows.

A note about the room shower: the showerhead is fixed and cannot be moved much at all, and its different settings were too difficult for me to use.

Overall, the Fireside is a very nice motel and a good option if travelling with a pet. Unfortunately, it was not the right...

These guys know how to run a pet friendly motel! We LOVED the attention to our furry friends. They give you a pet pack for each dog with sheets and towels and poo bags. They also had a fresh water station to wash them off with after playing in the ocean. Our room did not have a view of the ocean but that was totally fine, especially since we didn't come to sit in the room the whole time, all we had to do was walk a few feet to some fun rocks to climb on, a little beach out front when the tide is down, or a gorgeous, well kept trail to bigger beaches. We rented movies from the gift shop and bought a couple souvenirs. Everyone was super nice. The only issues we had were that our cable kept going out and when we showed up at 1AM after a 13 hour drive and all we wanted to do was sleep, we walked into our room that felt like a sauna, the bathroom was probably 85 degrees and it felt like the heat fan had been left on, it was miserable, of course, there was no air conditioning either. Bless my fiance for staying up so our daughter, dogs, and I could sleep with the room door and window open (which are on the same wall so no cross breeze and the window has no screen). They did send someone right away to fix the cable and they gave us a big box fan for the rest of our stay the next day which was much...

We already knew that we enjoy the Fireside Motel in Yachats for stays at the Oregon coast with our dog since the location is excellent for beautiful coastline, watching waves crash, and the place is always clean and comfortable with very friendly staff. This time, we had a larger family group visiting us and we wanted to show off the coast to them. Luckily, while checking the price for 3 hotel rooms to accommodate the entire group, we discovered that the Fireside now also has a rental house called "Love and Lighthouse Hideaway" that is pet friendly and big enough for our group: 5 adults, one child, one dog. The stay was lovely from start to finish: Check in at the Fireside front desk, where you get a warm welcome and dog biscuit and keys, to then enter a bright, clean house under the trees just a few steps away from the shore. Beds were comfortable, everything worked, living room with picture window to the shore, nice big functioning kitchen and kitchen table. (Do bring your essentials such as coffee and spices with you if you plan to make meals). Not cheap but better than 3 hotel rooms and much more convenient and fun for our larger group. We recommend this place if you want to explore this wonderful stretch of coastline with multiple...

Update: we were there again, this time in the Blue Heron room. I've added some pics. Although the room has a lived in look, you can see it is clean and well appointed. And that view! From the previous version of the review: This was our third stay at the Fireside, we stayed for 5 nights. The rooms are always clean, the motel is close to the ocean and the 804 Trail. Our room was (I think) the Petrel. It has a nice Jacuzzi tub and a "fireplace". The tub is large enough for two, and like the rest of the room, quite clean. The "fireplace" is in quotes because it is an electric unit with simulated flames. It does put out heat. The room includes a round table and two comfy armchairs, and a king bed. The WiFi at Fireside is also quite good. The tested download and upload rates were about 280MBS. Of note: this is the only room we have ever stayed in where the refrigerator light worked. :) There is a coffee maker. If you, like us, prefer to use a K cup machine, you will need to bring your own. We use reusable 'pods' bring ground coffee with us. Tip: use Espresso grind in the pods if you like robust dark roast. Drip grind may be recommended at a coffee house, but don't do it - Espresso grind is the way to go.
