We were on our way down the west coast highway and were staying in Yachats for the night. We had been told by many people that we needed to check out a local Inn and Cafe that was quite popular and reportedly had great food. We attempted to go to that Inn and Cafe, only to find there was a 50 minute wait and experience elbow to elbow crowds in the waiting area. It was quite claustrophobic, and I'm not a claustrophobic person! Thank goodness that was the case, because we were too hungry to wait and drove up the road to see what else might be available. Enter Outta Gas Pizza. At first we were hesitant to go in, because the exterior was not exactly what you would call 'updated' and almost DID look like a converted gas station. But again, we were hungry, and who doesn't like pizza if you can't get fish and chips for the night on the coast? So in we went. The atmosphere inside was much like the outside, but we were warmly welcomed in, handed quite an extensive menu, and told we could pick wherever we wanted to sit. The metal tables with red formica tops, red, sparkly vinyl chairs, and fluorescent lighting reminded us of a 50's diner, and the place appeared to be a haunt for locals, which we took as a good sign. But let's skip to the best part. The ladies who own this little, unassuming pizza place have it DOWN! Without going into too much detail about what we ordered, suffice it to say that both my grown daughter and I agreed that it was the best damn pizza either of us have ever had! No small thing since she live is Salt Lake City and I am in my 6th decade of life, have been in almost every state in the Union, and have eaten pizza in countless locations from big cities like Seattle and NYC and tiny home-grown towns like The crust was perfect! Crisp without being dry, just the right thickness, and very flavorful. And in a time when pizza places consistently skimp on sauce, this incredibly large (16 inches!) pizza had a very generous amount of delicious red sauce. The fresh toppings and loads of melty cheese were nothing short of heavenly on the palate. If you like a beer or glass of wine with your pizza, Outta Gas Pizza can accommodate you! We ended up having to take easily half of the pizza home as leftovers, but I am happy to report that even as leftovers, this pizza rocks! I would definitely recommend you set aside your apprehensions about going to an off-the-beaten-path, non-mainstream nook on the side of the road, and CHECK THIS PLACE OUT. You won't be sorry. The pizza is positively epic. Thank you for a great 'accidental' experience, Outta Gas Pizza! We are grateful the other place had such a long wait line. Serendipity is alive and kicking! I live in Montana, but I...
Read moreWe recently moved here and wanted to try the local pizza. The atmosphere is fun and family friendly with a touch of sports bar vibe. They have games for the family to enjoy like a pool table, shuffle board table, music box for you to pick out some jams, dart boards outside space and the staff is super friendly. Now to the food. The pizza I ordered was high octane with pepperoni, pepperchini, jalapeños, and pineapple. It was amazing. The sauce was well balanced not too sweet not even a little bitter just perfect. The cheese was fully melted and the toppings perfectly cooked unlike some other pizza joints in waldport. The toughness light and crispy yet fluffy. Best part about the crust and pizza is it is not heavy on your stomach like most pizzas. My wife ordered the turkey sub and it was amazing. Toasted with crisp lettuce and the meats were delicious! The music was fun, atmosphere was happy, and the food amazing! This is a must stop in Yachats. I have reviewed many in many states and there is none like this one. Great job out of...
Read moreGreat owner, bad pizza. I ate here 4 years ago on my first anniversary trip. At that time the pizza was so amazing (rosemary crust, fresh oregano, basil sprinkled on top, etc.) that I vowed whenever I had the chance I'd eat here again. Fast forward four years, and this time, after talking it up for years, my family and I traveled an extra hour out of our way to eat here. While the owner was very nice, we were shocked at the limited amount of pizzas, sizes (there's only one size and it's small), versus how expensive it was. Anticipating it would be worth $27 a pizza, we ordered two. The moment the pizzas arrived I knew something had changed between 4 years ago and now. The pizzas we were given just looked cheap. They tasted like it too. The dough was flavorless and we thought it tasted like a frozen Totinos pizza. We were so disappointed and dad that such a great place had changed. The owner was very friendly, but the pizza just...
