We had the most wonderful experience with the Adobe Resort as our wedding venue! Kathe and Samantha went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. They were so thoughtful and detail-oriented: intensively cleaning out our candle vases to ensure no fingerprints, smudges, or candle wax would be left behind, opening the doors for setup multiple times a day while keeping our items safe under lock and key, and keeping communication clear and timely throughout planning and wedding weekend (even sending helpful details like napkin and table dimensions). The family suite was perfect for getting ready with the bridal party and had fantastic ocean views. Both the indoor and outdoor spaces are stunning and timeless, and the team at the Adobe worked tirelessly to ensure everything matched our vision. The team was available at the rehearsal and wedding night to provide directions and ensure our timeline could flow without an additional day-of coordinator. Their prices are fair and transparent throughout planning. On top of that, the food was absolutely incredible for our rehearsal dinner and wedding night—our guests are still raving about it! We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or team to make our day perfect. We would highly recommend the Adobe Resorts for an intimate, magical, and memorable wedding weekend.

Disclaimer: see my other reviews.. it's rare for me to rate a place low. I used to love it here, in large part because their restaurant had a great menu with reasonable prices, so it was fun to retire from beach activities and be able to hang out in the lounge, get dinner, and be steps away from our room. The staff was always really fun and nice. The food was so good before they changed the menu and there were a lot of seafood options. The rooms were cozy and I never had any complaints. This was our go-to Oregon coast getaway and we planned to take family there soon. Last time I was there, one of the guests told me they'd be under new management soon and we exchanged hopes that the place wouldn't change too much. Unfortunately, the restaurant changed their menu pretty dramatically. Way fewer options, super generic seafood options and very limited, and outrageous prices. I'm more than willing to pay for good food. It's reasonable to pay $35/plate for GOOD seafood at the Oregon coast. The Adobe is now charging $30-40 per entree for low quality generic food (no salad or bread with some of them), there is no halibut or anything you'd expect fish-wise at a restaurant charging that much. With the entrees that come with bread, they actually state "one" bread basket. Don't tell me I only get one bread basket if I'm paying $40 for a subpar generic dinner plate. There aren't really cheaper options. The salads were in the $30 range too. A burger was $19 but who wants to buy a $19 burger at the coast? It better be mind-blowing. I've worked at places that have exchanged hands and seen this same occurrence - new management inherits some financial issues and resolves them by hiking prices and reducing quality - not realizing that the high quality was the only thing keeping the place alive. Also, the room we were put in this time clearly didn't have functional caulking on the windows. It was insanely loud all night. I thought the window was going to blow into the room.. walked outside and the wind was mildly blowing.. How hard is it to weatherproof one window pane? They shouldn't be putting people in that room until it is possible to sleep through the night. We cranked up the tv to overwhelm the sound of the wind screaming through the window cracks and slept probably 3 hours. We are not going to stay here with our visiting family now. We're actively looking for a new go-to place. I feel bad for the long-time staffers here who made this place feel fun, charming, and unique. I would definitely come back if the restaurant got honest with itself and either charged a reasonable amount for what they currently have on the menu, or upped the quality and made it worthwhile to spend $90 on two entrees and a dessert. And I don't need any updates to the rooms, however outdated they look - I just expect generic maintenance to be performed so I am not having a sleepless night. Pros: clean, big rooms, bar on site (only open til 9) so if you're a drinker who retires early, you can drink and not drive to get to your room, friendly waitstaff in bar and restaurant, DVD rentals in gift shop, close to downtown Yachats Cons: food too expensive relative to quality, vending machines empty (was this deliberate? Cause I totally would have filled up on cheetos instead of paying $30 for fish and chips), some really obvious maintenance...

Our stay at the Adobe was …underwhelming.

The room itself was ok. The décor and furnishings were a little outdated, but modern enough to be nostalgic. It was clean and comfortable. There was no love seat or coffee table as pictured on Expedia, so it kind of felt like a big, empty room, almost incomplete. There were signs about remodeling and the hallways smelled of fresh paint, so I wonder if they had recently redone our room and forgot to bring those items back out of storage in time for our stay.

The jetted tub with an ocean view was the highlight of the room. Though one thing that the pictures do not show and the details do not disclose is that there is a walking path directly outside the hotel and seeing as the tub is, at least in our room, flush to the window, even on the 3rd floor people walking by could easily look up and see you entering and exiting the tub. Strategic timing was definitely required. The window by the tub was missing it’s screen, but as it was overcast and rainy during our stay there weren’t any bugs to worry about keeping out. So that was more a baffling oversight than annoyance.

The bed was comfortable enough. And due to the biggest annoyance of all, we were awake for plenty of time to experience it. At some point in the middle of the night, 2 maybe 3 am, we were woken up by an extremely loud draining sound. As if someone had put a microphone in the tub as the water drained out. We checked the tub, the sink in the bathroom, and the shower, and none of them were even wet much less have water draining out. The sound lasted for 20-30 minutes, making it impossible to go back to sleep. By the time it stopped, we were wide awake, more than a little annoyed, and frustrated, so getting back to sleep was extremely difficult.

While we have stayed at worse places (not in Yachats) this was not up to expectations. For the price point being paid, a higher level of excellence was expected. The disappointment was not limited to the room. There were 2 icemakers on the first floor, neither of which were working. I was told by the front desk that they were the only icemakers on site and that they would “get someone right on it”. I would be surprised if both icemakers failed at the same time out of the blue. More than likely at least one of them had been dead for some time, though neither had an out of order sign. Neither worked during our stay. A minor annoyance, true, but when you are paying the prices you are for a location that labels itself (generously) a “resort”, you expect the basic amenities to be functioning properly.

It almost seems as if they know the experience will be disappointing and don’t want the interaction of checking you out. There are little boxes next to the exit labeled to deposit key cards, in hopes you do not go to the front desk to discuss your experience. When checking out, we were rushed through the process and out the door with barely a “thank you”

We will be making further trips to Yachats, but will likely not be staying...

The location is wonderful with easy access to the beach, the hotel is pet-friendly which is a plus, and the front desk staff are kind and helpful. But that's where the positives end.

The room was substandard for the cost ($151 per night): fixtures were missing all but one bulb, and the door had a deadbolt but was missing half of the secondary security latch. I'll caveat this though with the fact that we were in a separate building to the north and not the "main" hotel building which has plush carpeting and appeared to have been renovated fairly recently. So I can't say if this experience is consistent throughout the entirety of the hotel.

The pool area has a sauna and hot tub, which is great, but there was deferred maintenance which took away from the ambiance befitting a hotel which proclaims itself to be a "resort": ceiling finish had peeled away from the substrate, numerous areas around the trim needed to be replastered, and the air return vent was not aligned at all, fixtures were rusty, and the hot tub hand rail was very loose. But this is nit-picky compared to the restaurant.

Generally speaking, the restaurant food is substantially overpriced for what you get. The clams in white wine butter sauce were good, but that was it. The ribeye is $45 and is correctly cooked but underseasoned and only 3/4 of an inch thick which looked like roadkill on the plate when any self-respecting place serving steak should be providing 1.5 inch thick cuts, and the crispy onions served on top were disrespectful to the cow below. The cheese on the loaded baked potato looked like it came straight out of a bag. The restaurant doesn't have the seating capacity to be too busy to hand grate fresh cheese at this price point.

The French onion soup is better described as beef bouillon with onions and gruyere and had clearly not been cooked for any length of time as it lacks any depth of flavor.

The restaurant server was generally inattentive, only asking how the food was once and never if we needed more water or wanted more drinks (specifically the Huckleberry mule), which tasted like it was straight off a frat party thirsty-Thursday menu vs a well developed and carefully prepared cocktail for $14. The server then confronted us outside the restaurant (which is understandable but awkward with two young children who are tired) albeit politely, to see what was wrong. We provided some feedback to the server but expressing everything would have taken more time than we had time and patience for at that moment.

The entirety of the dining experience left me sad and wanting to cook and make drinks for family at home and I'm nowhere close to a chef or bartender.

We asked for additional blankets to be left outside our room around 6pm, before our restaurant experience, but didn't get them until we had to call again at 9pm.

I would have left a review card in the room but there wasn't even a pen to fill the review card out with.

The easiest and best part of Adobe was checking out. We will...
