Review of the Blue Water Resort, South Yarmouth, MA on September 11-13, 2024 We regularly go to Cape Cod and have our favorite places to stay. This trip we thought we’d try someplace we had never stayed at before since the weather looked great and the Blue Water Resort was right on the beach. When I booked the reservation I told the agent that this was our first visit there and how well this went would determine whether we book there again in the future. So the resort knew this was a test and that they had an opportunity to gain a repeat returning customer if we were treated well, but instead they lost a potential repeat customer Wow, what a disappointment our stay there was. Admittedly we did need to request a 1st floor room as we are somewhat mobility limited and upper floors and stairs are an issue for us. They booked us into what has to be The Worst room in the resort. We did not expect an ocean view room but we also did not expect a view from our room of two air conditioners and a parking lot. I returned to the office to try and get moved to another room but as I have seen other reviewers say, the front desk ultimately said that they didn’t have another room that they could move us into so we ended up staying in #117. At close to $200 a night, off-season in September, I was extremely unhappy about our accommodation. But, there were also other issues which we were not happy about including: >Our 1st floor room actually had 5 or 6 steps which we had to go up in order to get to the floor our room was actually located on. >We had booked a room with a King sized bed but the room we got had two Queen sized beds. >There was only one “tiny” trash can located in the bathroom. I called the front desk and was told “yes that’s all you get for trash cans”. >There was no clock at all on the nightstand nor in the room. >The chairs for the small table in the room were extremely uncomfortable to sit in. >Neither of us slept well at all either of the 2 nights there. Both mattresses were, I’ll call it, “extremely firm” or hard and just weren’t comfortable. >The “in-room” coffee was TERRIBLE. The powered coffee creamer packs were so old that they were hard as a rock and not useable. >The 1st floor ice maker was “Out of Order” and I had to go up to the icemaker on the 2nd floor to get ice. I attempted to contact the Red Jacket Resorts General Manager but it was clear that as a customer there was no access to talking to her as I got transferred elsewhere on the phone when calling her number. When departing I notified the front desk staff and the Assistant General Manager of how unhappy we were with our stay there and of the fact that because of how we were treated we would never book into there ever again. To top it all off, when asked via email to review the resort I was honest and listed most of what I listed above. The reply I got, from the General Manager, was, in my opinion, nonchalant and cavalier and condescending. It included the statement “Maybe a return visit could turn this experience into something more positive.” This without offering any type of possible incentive should we decide to try there again. But, it wouldn’t matter because I wouldn’t trust them again anyway. We Will Never Book Into any of the Red Jacket owned resorts including The Blue Water Resort, nor the Riveria, nor the Red Jacket Ever Again.

This is the second hotel that I have been to that has had the sink outside of the bathroom, so it was interesting. The thing about the bathroom that annoyed me the most was that the toilet paper is right next to the toilet. The toilet is in the corner, and the toilet paper is there too, so you are basically sitting on the toilet paper while using the toilet, but that's okay. The bed was low to the ground, so it was interesting getting in and out of every time. There is a charging port on the top of the bed frame. For blankets, there aren't comforters, just three sheets that kept us warm. The ac is always going, which made me sad because that's a waste of electricity but okay. There is a safe and a small fridge in the room, but there is not a microwave. Room service only came once while we were there, so we had a huge pile of towels by the end of the trip. Every morning, they would leave a trash bag with new towels by the door. Some mornings, they asked me to bring the trash to them. The wifi was out for 4 of the six days that we were there, so we could not stream anything on the TV when we were relaxing at night. The fake pictures above the bed are a bit tacky. Real pictures would be nice. There are three pools. I did not get a picture of the main outdoor pool, but it goes from 3ft to 8ft and it is very nice. The bar is right next to it, but it is a bit pricy. They charged us $21 for a drink (that was basically all ice) and $20 for a small burger. The other outdoor pool is next door, and that is also where the indoor pool and hot tub are. The hot tub was a bit dirty, and all the pools had sand in them. We met another couple who said that last year, the tiles were coming off of the hot tub, and people were gluing them on every day. The beach was amazing. It was very clean and beautiful. The seagulls there were very interesting. It was funny watching them hop around on the tanning/relaxing chairs. I loved collecting some shells on the beach, and finding horseshoe crab shells is always a favorite. I have yet to see a live one. There is no continental breakfast, unfortunately. They said that there is a restaurant there but we could not find it no matter how much we walked around. Overall, the experience was okay. People there are very friendly. I just wish we had room service and wifi.

We ended our vacation early because the resort was so dirty and disgusting. It was so bad that even management agreed it was unacceptable and gave us a significant refund. But, this did not make up for ruining our vacation and what we had endured. We rented a cottage and the pictures on the website do not reflect the conditions of the room, which is false advertising. When we arrived, the room smelled and did not appear to be cleaned prior to our arrival. I found possessions from previous guests and the appliances that were promised to us were either broken or so dirty that we did not feel comfortable using them. The microwave didn't turn on, the stove had visible damage to where it felt unsafe to turn it on, and the coffee maker had pieces missing and did not function. There were broken lights throughout the room, loose tiles, mold on the ceiling, and rust throughout the bathroom. If this wasn't bad enough, the sheets smelled, there were pillows without pillow cases. We even found foreign hairs on the blanket and slept in the beds with our clothes on. Because the Cape is completely booked, we had to make the decision to either cancel our vacation and return home or try to endure the horrible conditions. We stayed for two nights but were unable to sleep because it was so disgusting. Ultimately, we couldn't take it anymore and left the next day. The manager of the resort indicated that the conditions were so bad because they are planning on renovating the resort next season. But, Blue Water Resort should have never accepted our reservation given the condition of the resort, which is a public health hazard. We are in the process of reporting the resort for health violations and I advise anyone planning on visiting to cancel their reservations. Please view the photos for evidence of the horrid conditions and you can see a video of the cottage on YouTube - just search "Blue Water Resort in Cape Cod (Horrible Room Conditions)".

I stayed at the resort as one of the guest in the duplex cottage from 9/8-9/13. |We booked as a large group (30). 7 of us in the duplex cottages (2 that were joined together) and the rest in the hotel rooms.|The Bill - group sales had asked us to provide names and emails of everyone staying in the cottages so that we could be individually billed. This was done 8/18. Nothing until 9/5 at 3:44PM we all got an email asking for our cc info, with no attached invoice, which we all felt uncomfortable to do. I immediately called and spoke to the manager. There was some discrepancies in the bill, the mgr got it fixed and told us what we each had to pay and that we could instead pay at check in. As us guests at the cottage checked in, they charged us for what we owed, until it got to guest number 7. They tried to charge her more. The night before we left we went to the front desk and ended up discovering the front desk was charging us more per night than what was originally quoted to us. The Supervisor said he could not fix it, that he needed group sales to fix it and they are not in until Monday. At that point we had him only charge $633.19 and the balance would have to be figured out when group sales got back. |Customer Service|Lacking big time. While everyone seemed nice, there is clearly a lack of training. Not one person could ever answer any questions. Such as, we booked and paid for a clam bake. We asked the front desk where do we go for that and they answered with a look on their face like they never heard of it before and said "clam bake?" They didn't know about us checking in under individual bills. Several of our group went to breakfast at their restaurant and were told no due to another group in there. We were told the resort had a restaurant for breakfast and dinner, and yet that changed when we got there without warning. Upon check in we were also not informed that we needed to request 24hrs in advance to get full housekeeping. |Housekeeping - |Lack of...... I called a week prior to our arrival to ask about what I needed to bring to the cottage such as paper towels, cleaning supplies, etc..... I was told we would have full housekeeping services and supplies would be replenished as needed. We had our towels, papertowels, toilet paper, and trash replenished daily. Although the one cottage never had the trash bag replaced which we found odd, so we used the extra bag on the other side daily. The floors were always dirty and used towels sometimes not taken. No trash basket in any of the bedrooms and no swifter or mop to clean the floors. They were so bad that one day after showering I placed a towel on the floor in font of the bathroom sink. I walked into the kitchen and bedroom, returned to the bath to dry my hair, when done got off the towel - looked down to see my dirty footprints on the towel. Our last day really had me upset. We came back from a long day to find clear trash bags, one on each outside cottage door handle, with clean towels, paper towel, and toilet paper. We walked inside to trash not taken out, dirty towels still on the floor. I went to the front desk, that's when she told me we had to "request full service 24hrs in advance" then she apologized that none of the 7 of us were told this so she sent someone over to clean. I went to the pool bar to eat, since the restaurant was closed, for yet, another event, after went back to the unit to find only 1 trash was taken and fresh towels were dropped off..... yes, dirty towels still on the ground. This was after 4 of us witnessed the gal at the front desk order a full service clean. PS she also asked if we had a do not disturb sign on the door, which we did not... in fact we didn't have a sign to hang on the door even if we wanted to. |Rooms - |The cottages were cute. I find it odd that the (2 of the 4) bedrooms had no dressers nor waste baskets. Our bathroom fan did not work as well. Oh and no ice.... We had to walk across the street for ice, which is crazy! Our king bed had no quilt, so we took one from one of the bunk beds in the opposite cottage. Our couch ottoman had stains on it, which is gross to look at|Wanted to also note - your staff should not be partying at night by the picnic tables / dumpster area in front of the cottages with sleeping guests. If I didn't have my sound machine I would have yelled at them. There was also a ton of cigarette butts on the bottom of the left steps... we would joke that the rabbits were smoking.|I never write negative comments like this, never had such a weird experience but I am not the only one. |The Clam Bake was the best, the food was great! We all...

Let me start out by saying that if I could I would rate the Blue Water Resort 10/5. I will most definitely be returning to this resort! I am writing this review very late so I'll do my best to recount every wonderful detail about my fantastic experience at this resort... My family and I chose to stay at this resort on a whim, booking our room the same day that we were to arrive at the resort. My brother was playing in the college baseball regional championships on Cape Cod and his team was staying at the Blue Water Resort.... so were several other teams. I was surprised that we were able to get a room and even more surprised at the very reasonable rate. We selected a standard room with two queen beds. When we arrived to check in the front desk staff were very busy checking people in and out. Apparently one of the teams that was staying there had been eliminated and were all checking out at once as other people were checking in. The staff was incredibly professional and personable throughout the chaos, which could have easily been overwhelming. When it was our turn to check in, we were greeted with a smile and polite conversation. We took our keys and headed to the room. When we got there we found that the room had not been serviced yet. There were still used towels on the bathroom floor and the beds had not been made. We returned to the reception desk and explained what we found, at which point both of the lovely ladies (whose names I so badly wish I could remember) became incredibly apologetic and immediately got to work to correct the mistake. The computer said that the room they had given us was clean even though it wasn't (an honest mistake), so they promised us that they would send someone to check the next room before assigning it to us. The woman who was searching the computer for another available room found an ocean view room, which was an upgrade to the style of room that we originally booked, and said that she would give us the upgrade. I was so happy with the level of customer service that the upgrade was not necessary, but admittedly very nice. We waited for someone to check the room before being given our keys. A few minutes later the manager walked into the reception area and said that he was there to show us to our room. We followed him as he walked into the building that we had just come from. He turned around with a smile on his face and told us that he thought we were going to be very happy with the upgrade. Then proceeded to tell us that we were staying in the best room on the property and led us upstairs to the rooftop suite. I was speechless. The suite is absolutely beautiful, if you ever have the opportunity I would highly recommend staying there! The manager left us to get comfortable and shortly afterwards we ventured back to our vehicle to retrieve our bags. As we were pulling the luggage out of the car one of the members of the maintenance staff happened to come across us. He immediately, without prompting, asked if he could get someone to help us with our bags. A very nice young man came out mere seconds later and carried all of our luggage up to the room for us. Unfortunately, we were only staying one night and most of our day was spent at a baseball field so we did not have a chance to enjoy most of the amenities that the resort offers. Therefore, I cannot comment on the food and beverage services or the pools. I can, however, tell you that you most certainly will not find better customer service ANYWHERE else. The entire staff is devoted to ensuring that every guest has a comfortable, relaxing, stress free stay. I can't say enough good things. Beautiful resort, but the true value is in the absolutely wonderful, amazing people on...
