Let me start off by saying. I have been traveling to the Cape for decades. I have stayed in almost every hotel in South Yarmouth and Dennis. We also have rented a lot of homes in those areas. We go at least 4 to 6 times a year even in the off-season. It’s like our second home and we absolutely love it. This was my first time staying at this lodge. This was a very last-minute trip booked the night before we left just a quick three day weekend getaway.||We ended up arriving early so we stopped by the lodge and I told the manager at the desk if the room is cleaned early, let us know we would love to check in. We have two small children with us and we would love to be able to use the pool at your facility in bathrooms.|This manager/co-owner was extremely rude from the moment I walked in. Very unfriendly. Did not smile. And could barely speak or understand English. He said our website states 4 PM and that’s when you can check in. Now I have stayed at many places and they have always contacted me when my room was ready and they let us check in.|The man eventually understood what I was asking and asked for my phone number and said he would call if something opened up sooner. Around 1 PM I gave the desk a call just to check in to see if anything happen to be opened and he said stop calling us. I thought that was very rude and unprofessional of him and not very good customer service. He already gave a bad vibe when I first walked in. |3 PM came and he called us to come back and check in.|Well, we were checking in my son wanted a snack bag size of Cheetos and a water and it cost me eight dollars. I feel like this place is gouging prices. The outside of the place is a dump. |The bathroom in the room was horrible no counter space to put anything. It was just a sink. And the shower was also horrible with just a half glass panel so for a bigger person it was very hard to not get water on the floor. |The housekeeper came in every day between eight and 11. We were asked to leave the hotel between those hours every day. Which we did. The only thing that they did in the room was make the bed and put fresh towels. They did not sweep the floor so we bought a little broom to keep up with all the sand that tracked through. I swept it every night into one corner of the room in the housekeeper did not touch that pile or pick it up for us. The entire stay. There was old blueberries that were under the bed that were never cleaned prior to us Checking in. The filter on the air conditioner said it needed to be changed. It was very musty smell. !!|There was a lot of bugs that we killed the entire stay. The beds were comfortable. The refrigerator was big. I also did not like the fact they charged us for parking $25 a day. I feel like this owner is money hungry and is gouging people with the prices for what you get I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I would never stay here again. The manager/owner has a very bad attitude. We met people by the pool in the older women thought the same. And we’re complaining about the same issues that we had. |We should’ve tried to just get our money back and go elsewhere.! |I will be contacting bbb and also the company we...
Read moreSpent two nights at the Bluebird Parker Beach Lodge earlier this week for my wife's first visit to the Cape and my first visit in 20 years.
What I love most about BPBL is its location, the vintage beach aesthetic and good value. For a newer hotel, I expected some kinks along the way, but this hotel has a lot of potential and I see it getting better and better over time. Overall, I was very happy with our stay and would recommend it for people who want to stay near the beach who also want to keep a moderate budget and avoid the creepy, more rundown options.
Pros: Location. South Yarmouth is a good central location on the Cape if you don't want to be too far away. Located across the street from Parker Beach, the hotel is on a quiet main road near residential areas that make for relaxing walks and minimal street noise. Just a mile from Rt. 28, so a quick drive to anything you would need.
Beach. I really liked Parker Beach. Smaller, but has everything you need: clean, fine sand, suitable bathrooms, a nice playground, clean, swimmable water, great views up and down the coastline...a versatile beach great for families, solo or couples. A nice crowd without being crowded...no reason to go to any other beach.
Staff. The check-in process was easy and the front desk was friendly and helpful. The cleaning crew is meticulous and methodical. I also liked how their text service made it easy to ask simple questions
Front desk. I liked how it had a lot of little extra items in case you needed something: snacks, frozen meals, ice cream, beach stuff. Simple, but set up nicely...charming lobby.
Design. A simple, yet beautiful room that was clean and well-attended for. The lightning was pretty and I really liked the hooks along the wall, which was a functional, yet beautiful design choice. Just a relaxing space with beautiful natural light coming in from the morning (I believe our room faced east).
Cons:
Bed. Maybe it was just our room, but our bed was uncomfortable. It was almost crested: the center was the high point and it angled downward on both sides. It's a simple fix that will go a long way.
Bathroom. While I loved their soaps/shampoo and general look of the bathroom, the hot water took a few minutes to kick in and there was no space on or near the sink for toiletries. Also, the toilet paper was placed very close to the ground, making for an odd reach, when it was needed.
Kitchenette area. While it was nice having an additional sink space outside the bathroom to prep snacks and simple meals before going to the beach, but coffee machines are needed, especially for us who planned on waking up early and getting out of the room prior to the lobby opening. Also, our mini-fridge was a refurbished mini-bar fridge, so it was designed oddly and made it really hard to store anything, even a few cans of drinks. Please swap out the old mini-bar fridges for actual mini-fridges.
Doors let in a lot of noise. We were fortunate to stay in a room that was on the outer edges of the motel, but when people were outside, a lot of noise came in. Not sure how this could be fixed and it's kinda the nature of staying at any motel...maybe a...
Read moreWe checked out of Parker Beach Lodge expecting to wrap up a fun girls’ weekend in Cape Cod. Instead, we left feeling deeply unsettled.
At checkout, Rammy, the man working the front desk, proudly told us that he had come to our hotel room door just before midnight the night before and knocked four times while we were asleep — supposedly to deliver pastries. This was completely unprompted and alarming. No one had asked for anything. We were three women traveling together, and the idea that a male staff member would approach our room late at night without warning or necessity was incredibly unsettling.
It got worse. After we left the hotel, Rammy sent two unsolicited messages to my friend (one via iMessage, and another through WhatsApp) saying he “missed her” and remembered her birthday. She had never given him her phone number. He appears to have taken her contact information directly from our reservation — a clear privacy violation, and a major breach of professional boundaries.
This trip was meant to be a joyful birthday celebration — not something that left us feeling unsettled and unsafe.
From the moment we arrived, things felt off. Check-in was slow and disorganized. Rammy made strange, unsolicited comments and repeatedly warned us not to be loud. Our first room smelled like mothballs, the fridge didn’t work, the AC gave off a burnt odor, and the floors were gritty with sand. When we politely asked to switch rooms, Rammy insisted there was nothing wrong and claimed all rooms were the same. Only after more back-and-forth and involvement from another staff member were we moved.
The property is marketed as a boutique hotel, but it’s much more like a motel with exterior-facing rooms, thin walls, and minimal service. The mornings weren’t relaxing either: by 8 a.m., the pool was overrun with loud children, and staff made no effort to maintain a peaceful environment. Ironically, we were told at check-in to be quiet at all times, yet it seemed no such expectations seemed to apply to other guests.
We did our best to enjoy the weekend and celebrate, but the overall experience — especially Rammy’s behavior — left a bad taste in our mouths. The hotel recently changed ownership and management, and it’s clear that the current team lacks the professionalism and training to provide a safe, respectful guest experience.
Women, especially those traveling with friends or solo, should think twice before booking here. We expected warmth, charm, and a place to celebrate. Instead, we got a violation of trust, privacy, and...
