This August was our 12th year back to our Green Harbor "family". We travel with a large group of cousins and our kids have literally grown up going back annually. It is the highlight of our summer and my kids love "Janice" and "Star" in the office! Janice has been the one to issue the prizes for all the kids who learn to ride a two-wheeler at the resort! You can do this because they have a wonderful selection of bikes to borrow to ride around. Also, the kids love the on-site mini golf and the resort's playground overlooking Nantucket Sound. After swimming in the heated pool or playing at the private beach the kids (and adults) LOVE to hear the ding-ding-ding of the ice cream truck that pulls in several times a day! The resort is located right off of 28 in West Yarmouth and although the Cape is insanely busy and chaotic in the summer, the resort is down a lane on it's own small "peninsula" so that it feels so secluded. The grounds are lush and green with beautiful, manicured gardens. You can pass the time waiting for your laundry to finish in the onsite machines by playing shuffle board or using on of the GH resort canoes that are available for guests. Housekeeping always does a fabulous job daily of making things sparkle so that you really feel like you are AWAY. We always grill out back at night, eating on our adjoining, harborside decks if we aren't going out to eat at one of the myriad (fine dining places or family-style) restaurants close by. I have to note that management has done a GREAT job upgrading the linens and bedding to more modern, comfortable bedding....it's much more in keeping now with the overall industry trend. Next, we are hoping for some "better" spa-quality towels to stay inline with GH's price point. Really, tho, the resort has seriously "thought of everything" one could want for a family, couples, or friends getaway. And chances are if you forgot something, they'll have it in the office or can direct you where to buy it. Oh, I must also add what a lovely feature the morning Kid's Klub is and also note the fun activities you can join in on. On varying days there is kite-making, a fishing derby, clowns, tricks, and juggling, face painting, DJ dancing, music, and poolsideportraits. If this isnt 'enough' you are welcome to visit one of the other Red Jacket locations nearby to utilize their offerings. On days not busy at GH we drive to Ptown or go on a whale watch. The Cape has so much to do. The Welfleet Drive- in is a special treat ......just ask the front desk for ideas! Highly recommend...
Read moreWe have gone here for several years and this is the first time I can say it was a truly disappointing experience. One of the units we had was a 2BR/2BA suite. Same one we request each time we go. This year however the unit was barely livable. There were small flies in the second bathroom which they tried to get rid of by pouring something down the drain. That did nothing. They were on the towels etc. So that bathroom could not be used during our 4 day stay. Then there were tiny ants all over the kitchen counters. Again they did try to remedy it by spraying Raid around the stove area. I was not happy with that as we had 2 toddlers with us. But that still did not solve the problem. So we could not use the 2nd bathroom and could not use the counters for food prep. They obviously need to have a Pest Control Co. come in. I spoke to the manager at check out and she said she would have someone look into the fly issue and they have had a problem with ants in some units. I told her we had stayed in other units and never had ants. She said we were lucky..... She then said she would give me a credit for the inconvenience and adjust the invoice. She did not say the amount at the time but I thought it would be reasonable. The next day a credit came thru for $50!!! That is it for not having the use of the second bathroom and not able to do food prep on the counters. This place is expensive so that credit was nothing. The suite we were in is apporx $900 per night. For our inconvenience (which was extreme) we should have rec'd at least a credit of a half nights charge. A new company took them over a couple of years ago and obviously they are letting things go. But they added a $25 fee PER DAY for parking and started charging for things that were included in the past. I dont know if i will be back but I am hoping that if i do that they have remedied the pest issue and stopped adding more charges onto guests. And get rid of the $25...
Read moreThis is a small, quaint little resort that worked pretty well for our family reunion. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Summer pricing was pretty expensive, and you have to add a resort fee and a fee for parking to that every day. There were washers and dryers, but only one of each worked, and there was no way to tell how long a cycle was to figure out how much time was left on someone else’s washing and drying before you could get yours in. Supposedly, repairs were “on the docket”. We also stayed in what was apparently the main original structure on the property, which is apparently slated for updating this off-season. We had to kick the front door to be able to get it to open, and the door handle fell off the bathroom door. Our room had a large living area, but not really a lot of furniture in it. The back deck with the best view was shared with the center unit next-door. The door locking mechanisms on the front and back door are crazy; if you push the button to lock it, they have to get a master key to unlock it, which I didn’t find out till after I pushed the button. Made sure not to push the button in the back door, then found out that that one locks automatically behind you anyways.|Having said all that, the pool was a big hit with our group, and the little mini golf area was nice also. The beach is wonderful, as long as the wind isn’t coming in. We couldn’t go on it the first couple of days due to the wind speed, but the last day was gorgeously beautiful. on the Bay side of our unit, we could see Osprey nests with the Ospreys out hunting for fish a lot. The back deck was also more sheltered...
