Up on the Cape to do the antique glass show over the weekend, I made plans to stay over another night so I could visit antique shops on Cape Cod! This was my second trip to the Antiques Center of Yarmouth, and I can honestly say that this is, by far, the FRIENDLIEST antiques shop I've visited! First of all, and this is important, they have PUBLIC restrooms! They even have a sign on the front door entryway "We have public restrooms - Yipee!" It may sound peculiar, but several of the other multi dealer shops DO NOT! Of course, the main thing is the antique and collectibles available. Well, the shop has many dealers - some in booths, some in showcases, offering virtually every kind of antique and collectible you could possibly want or need.
I collect glass and china, and I found some nice pieces of antique glass, including an EAPG Vaseline opalescent bowl at a very reasonable price! I picked some wonderful pressed cut Eagle glass stems, an English bone china cup and saucer by Shelley, and several other items that were MUCH more reasonable than comparable stock at both the Sandwich Antique Center and the other big multi dealer shop on 6A! Plus, those two places have NO PUBLIC RESTROOMS!
The Antique Center of Yarmouth has old clocks, furniture, primitives, ephemera, glass, china, collectible antique and vintage toys, dolls, jewelry, and everything else!
GO! ...and see...
Read moreVery rude individuals working there on Monday, 3-13. Entered the store at EXACTLY 4:40 p.m. and the snide little redhead hollers out, "You know we close in just a few minutes at FIVE O' Clock!" Well, that would leave 20 minutes to shop around right? (And I already knew what time it was, btw.) The attempted shopping was short-lived when the other troll-like dark haired lady starts shutting off all the lights in the viewing areas, with the exception of the front lights near the main register. After nearly 14 minutes of trapsing around in the semi-dark, I left the "store" by 4:55 p.m. which at that juncture, nearly the entire place was dark. (Good way to perpetuate a lawsuit by having customers trip and fall due to lack of lighting because two lazy employees would rather close up early than actually make money for their store!) NEEDLESS TO SAY - WILL...
Read moreThis store was full of incredible antiques, no complaints about products/set up, was very cool. HOWEVER, I was shocked to witness who I’m assuming was the owner/manager (or one of them) yell and cuss at one of her young employees in front of multiple customers for merely taking a phone call. Sure, it is valid to correct your employees, but to be cussing at this poor girl very close to her face and embarrassing her in front of multiple patrons made me pretty mad. After surprising her employee with the confrontation, she started aggressively saying “SAY SOMETHING. SAY SOMETHING.” almost threateningly. Anyways I truly hope that manager sees this review and learns how to address issues with her employees without...
