We are here in the off season. (Still here) I travel with 2 very quiet kids age 10 and 13 and my husband. Everything about this place said family friendly. We checked in Sunday and used the pool and hot tub and work out facilities, as a family (athletic and pre-pro dance) We are pretty much the only people here, which is nice as we decided to “spring break” where there would be no crowds. On Wednesday we planned on using the pool, hot tub and work out facilities again. We have used them each day and it was great. On Tuesday there was a birthday party with 6-10 kids and they were all over the pool area, in hot tub ect… they were being kids. They were not a bother, but a much younger age than my two kids and using the hottub. On Wednesday about 6pm our family of 4 entered the pool area and got in the pool together. We were the only ones, besides a pool attendant that were there. We were quiet and swimming with the 4. My 13 year old got chilly and decided to sit on the edge of the hottub, right next to us. The attendant with black hair and glasses came over and she asked her to get out of the hot tub. We couldn’t even sit with her for her to continue to sit on the edge with her feet in. Mind you, we were the only people in the whole pool and hottub area. She was quiet and minding her own business and about to read her book. I do understand that when it’s busy, no one wants kids in the Hottub. I get it. But Tuesday, the birthday party had kids jumping into Hottub and the area was busy. And Sunday - Tuesday we and the few others with kids were in it. On Monday there were many kids under 5 in it! There was NO one else in the entire pool/ hottub area but us. We were then told that she could not use the work out facilities with us either. We thought we came to a quiet place where our family could unwind. But they wernt allowed to do the things we like to do. I’m really on board with a place that has many guests, kids not being allowed in the hottub and work out area. But be upfront and consistent. Don’t allow it for parties, or allow it Sunday -Tuesday. And don’t advertise in the off season that you are family friendly. Not every family needs toys and video games. We like to swim, workout and hottub together as a family of 4. I did go to the attendant and ask why she couldn’t sit there or be with us, and she told me they were Eddie, the hot tub association rules and I had to take it up with him. She was there to enforce rules (while she was knitting) I let her know that we were not disturbing anyone and if someone wanted to get into the hottub, she would leave. She said it was the rules. I let her know about the other nights, the party ect… she didn’t care. As I write this review, I look out the window to the pool, and kids are in the hottub, age 12, 15 and 17 with no parents even in the pool area, why arnt they asked to leave? (We met them yesterday that’s why we know their ages) We are owners at another place. We thought we would try here as the reviews seemed ok. We know how this works. We won’t be back and we won’t recommend it. Id like to add on Tuesday, an elderly gentleman was sitting in the hottub and on a nearby table he had a bottle of Aquafina water. He got out of the tub and took a drink of it, someone that works here came over and told him he had to remove the water bottle as it could not be in the pool area. He responded with he was hydrating and it was a clear plastic water, the person told him he could not have it, so the guy left. Rules are rules I guess. It’s supposed to rain tomorrow and we were hoping for a lazy day at the hotel to swim and relax and get another work out in as that is fun for our kids. Instead, we will move on And I would NOT recommend coming here or exchanging your times share here if you are a family with kids. I can only imagine how it is in the busy season (our stay March 30 to april 6) we are...
Read moreWe've stayed at all types of places around the world, from luxury brands like Ritz Carlton and Relais & Chateaux to Marriott-branded hotels, Airbnbs and, of course, vacation club condos. This place is rated as a 3-star hotel and I'm reviewing it as such. If you go to a 3-star hotel and expect it to be similar to a 4 or 5-star hotel, you're being unfair and unrealistic. Now, on to the review.
We were pleasantly surprised by The Cove at Yarmouth. The one-bedroom two-story, two-bath condo with a slight view of the cove was quiet and looked as if it had recently been refreshed. Its nautical/seashore motif was understated and not at all kitschy. (I was relieved b/c the last time we stayed at a place on the Cape - a B&B, it looked like it was decorated by an old seafaring granny!)
Our room (508) and the entire facility was super clean and very well-maintained inside and out. Reading about the amenities before we came, we understood the condo is equipped with a kitchenette with a sink, microwave, Keurig, and small refrigerator - not a full kitchen. I'm fine with this b/c it means we don't have to deal with lingering cooking smells from other guests. Note: Bring your own K-cups for the Keurig. We have reusable/refillable K-cups - better for the planet.
The outdoor pool, bar, and cafe were great, and the live music was actually good. The on-site restaurant has decent food and it's super convenient if you don't feel like going out. We didn't use the rec facility, so I can't comment on it.
There's parking near the rooms and inside there's a centralized laundry facility. If you don't want to carry your luggage up to the 2nd floor (no elevator), be sure to reserve a room on the first floor. We were on the 2nd, but carrying a couple of bags up is no big deal for us. Plus, the stairs are wide and there's a landing, so it's pretty easy.
Everyone on staff was super nice and helpful. As for the location on the mid-Cape, it's pretty ideal. Walking distance to Hyannis, beaches, etc. Close to some good restaurants.
The only downside for us, and why I rated the room at 4 stars, is no king bed. We knew it was a queen when we made the reservation. It was not a surprise. But we're used to a king so a queen isn't what we'd prefer, although it was pretty comfortable. I'm picky about bed quality and I could sleep on this bed without waking up with an aching back. A huge plus! We always bring our own pillows so I can't comment on the pillows. We didn't use the sofa bed, so I can't comment on it.
All in all, The Cove at Yarmouth was a very decent stay at a quite reasonable price for the Cape in June. We will definitely stay here again because we bought into...
Read moreStayed at the Townhouse. It was mostly clean, just some splatter on the kitchen backsplash. Keep in mind that the townhomes are on the second floor and there are no elevators. Plus the bedroom is on the second floor and the stairs are narrow. The bed is very comfortable. There was a full bathroom with a corner shower stall nest to the bedroom. There is a small tv, small closet, 1 nightstand with a clock and a lamp with usb to charge devices. The living room has a sofa and 2 swivel chairs and a very large TV. Some free movies to stream included. They have dvd plays and dvds at the rec center for free. There is also an outlet below the tv with different plugs, HDMI, USB, USBC. A sliding door is behind the chairs for air but there is no balcony. There is a toaster in the kitchen cabinet as well as plates, silverware, cutting board, steak knives, a glass covered casserole dish, and dish rack. The microwave is small like a dorm size and it takes a long time to cook anything. We tried microwaving 6 eggs for breakfast and it took most 20 minutes. Keep in mind there is no cooking in the room allowed. There is no stove. The mini fridge was very nice but no freezer. A Kermit is provided but not coffee pods, there were sugar packets. There are gas and charcoal grills outside. There are chairs by the marsh if you want to sit. There are several benches around the property. Some are designated smoking spots. The outdoor pool is very small but has lots of seating, a snack shack and bar and some outdoor fire pits. This was very busy Sat and Sun night. The Loft bar/dance club is open Sat night till 11 but closed on Sunday. This is a very popular spot for locals. Parking is right. We had to park at the rec center bc parking at our door was always full. This made bringing our stuff in and out very difficult m, especially when you are already lugging everything up 2 flights of stairs and down winding hallways. The ice machine was on the other side of the property for us so we just didn’t bother. For the money I think we should be able to cook. Even if it was an electric griddle. It is in a nice area with many nearby cafes and restaurants and mini golf. Our kitchen sink had a slight leak after washing dishes so we told them at checkout. The suites are on the 1st floor and have a balcony. There are designated parking spots for the handicap units as well. You get a wristband for...
