The room we had reserved online as soon as we walked in the room a very, very strong smell of weed hit me! There was a connecting door inside the room and I'm sure that was where the smell was coming through.
I know weed is legal in Cherokee now but there are signs posted saying no smoking. I'm very sensitive to smells and smoke and would have been sick if I'd stayed in there. Luckily the guy behind the desk got us another room with no connecting door and that room was better.
Just be aware of that if you stay here. Also there is a sign at the desk saying 250 fine for smoking but I doubt it's enforced. Also it's kind of weird there's no outside sign saying what hotel this is. As you can see from my photo, it's blacked out.
Edited to add the photo that I took in the new room bathroom the towel holding the hand soap had the yellow stain on it from the soap dish not being clean. Also I had to clean pubes off toilet and in shower. Yuck!
Also the pool was closed even though it's had water in it. From the reviews I've read on here the pool is always closed. They shouldn't advertise a pool if it's never open. Also included a picture of the gym there. It's just a treadmill and a bicycle with some weight balls. There was a water dispenser in the gym but there was no...
Read moreWe checked in here after taking our son to ride the Polar Express. This hotel seemed like one of the nicer ones in the area. The good news is that they don’t charge an incidental at check-in, which is super helpful. When we first checked in, it was around 10pm, and my husband and I both agreed that the first front desk staff member we saw was very racist. I would hand her my card and held my hand back out for her to hand it back to me and she kept placing it on the desk. She did this again with the receipt and then I tried making small talk with her. It may have just been late, but she really acted like she didn’t want us to be there at all. She kept looking at me like I was beneath her and that I don’t have the right to even talk to her. The room we got smelled like a wet dog the entire night. I’m glad we didn’t have to sleep in the car at least. Upon check out early the next morning, another lady was there and she was very sweet. The lady who set up the breakfast was kind too. It’s just the first woman we talked to made us feel like we were the wrong skin color and it was just an icky feeling that I’m not even used to. If you feel you’re the right skin color, consider this place for your vacation. If not, maybe reconsider. It’s at...
Read moreTruthfully did not want to leave this review but I’m not sure how it got as many good reviews that it did, it’s been eating at me since we left. It might have been just our room 9/14-9/15, room 126. When we get to our room we immediately noticed a musk smell or like dirty AC/humid smell. I’m guessing the cleaner they use leaves grease everywhere! On the picture frames you could see grease everywhere from the spray bottle, on the walls, bed frame, phone, alarm clock… literally everywhere I touched was greasy, even the bed left greasy on me. There’s no real mattress protector, carpet was sticky greasy film, took a shower and put a towel on the floor and you could see black dirt marks all over it. We noticed a couple fruit flies. The pull out bed was nasty, looked like a ton of old skin sells or someone that had bad dandruff. We only chose this hotel, with no view, etc. because of the cleanliness reviews but I would have just spent the same amount for a nice view. The people were very nice though just a little disappointed in our stay since we spent so much time looking for a...
