It is so easy in this day and age to become accustomed to chain motels, where the service is standard and you know exactly what will happen and when...||Thank you Carlton-Marion for NOT following that! I had actually forgotten what personal, family run hotels were like, and I'm glad they brought me back to reality!||The owners have designed a place that will make you feel so at home! The rooms may not look like a Hilton, but you will be as comfortable! Throughout the room, there are plaques and models that make you feel like you are back at your Mom's or your Grandma's house. So very welcoming!||Our first 2 days were taking care of family stuff, but our final afternoon/night there were so enjoyable! We had seen the cats on the property, and a couple of them would beat us in the door sometimes, and we would have a blast with them, but on our final day, we sat outside our room, and found many friends, but they were both feline and human! We met and spoke to the owners, and have the ultimate respect for them and there business. Then, the cats! We had 2 to 3 that decided that we were theirs, and we spent hours outside with them! It was just the thing we needed to slow down and settle down and remember that life is best in the "not so fast lane".||I really want to thank the owners for being yourselves, and for being so truly welcoming. You have no idea how much we needed and appreciated this! I sincerely hope we can return and stay longer and even adopt a couple of the cats!||Thanks again for a trip we will...

I have to confess that I was never an outdoors person but over the last few years I'm learning to embrace and appreciate it. My wife who is from Arkansas has managed to get this Jersey born and raised guy up in Northern Arkansas on a trip to The Indian Rockhouse. So my review may come across as a little critical to some.||First the positives, I believe it was the owner who checked us in. He was very friendly and apologetic for the lightening strike that knocked out the internet service. The room was a nice size and we thought the bed was fairly comfortable. ||My only and biggest issue would be the cleanliness of the carpeted floor. We saw more than a few dead bugs...after throwing away the first couple we stopped. As I'm writing this review I'm realizing I'm not being critical. The carpets needed to be vacuumed. The other observation is the distance between the t.v and the bed. The volume had to be turned way up to cover the distance. T.V.'s for the most part don't have the best speakers but when you combine that to the distance it becomes a problem. So I guess what I'm realizing is if the carpets were cleaned and the tv were addressed, my rating would jump up...

The Carlton is one of the best non-chain motels I've ever stayed in. Bobbi at the front desk is smart, kind, gracious and helpful with anything you may need. Parking is a little tight for large trucks and especially if you are towing you might not be able to fit here as this is a park-in-front-of-your-room type of motel. The rooms are clean and recently updated, though the single queen rooms (the only kind I saw inside of) are small, and the bathroom is smaller still but the shower (no tub) was quite roomy. Overall it was perfectly suitable for my needs. Unlike most motels in the lower price range, the Carlton includes a mini-fridge, microwave, 4-cup coffeemaker and hair dryer, all of which were in good condition and worked perfectly. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were better than average. The room was quiet though loud snoring or coughing can be heard through the walls a bit. In the backyard there's a pool, a grill and firepit with chairs to hang out with your party as well as other guests. I met several great people during my stay... It's Arkansas so most people are warm and welcoming - don't be shy! And then there are the cats! I will...

I stayed here for a few days with my girlfriend and our dog. We had an amazing experience with the motel, and with Yellville in general for that matter, as we visited for the solar eclipse. Jay and Candyrae were terrific hosts, embodying all the best attributes of "southern hospitality". The motel property features a large fire pit with chairs for guests to gather around each evening (weather permitting). A pool is also located beside the fire pit, but was closed for repairs during our stay. A large grassy area slopes down a bit from the fire pit and pool area to the back edge of the property, providing a stunning view of the landscape: cow pastures, hills, forests, and the Crooked Creek valley. I really enjoyed the view of the valley, as well as the motel location's walkability. After arriving, I didn't have to drive at all! From the motel, I was able to walk to several different restaurants and even to the Yellville City Park. In a world of chain hotels, The Carlton Marion Inn provided a refreshing and recharging stay. It was the perfect location to take in the solar eclipse from, and I will make a point to return here next time I am in the area.

These 5 star reviews must be fake! 1) this is a run down motel, not a “resort.” 2) my first room was dirty with pubic hairs all over the sheets and the second room was also poorly cleaned. 3) there was NO HOT WATER in the sink or shower and also no one there to complain to. 4) the telephone number on the door is disconnected, 5) i left two voicemails with my issues at the number listed on Google and no one ever called back. They just don’t care. 6) if you close the curtains the window unit ac doesn’t work. Nasty motel! Note about their response below. Isn't is FASCINATING that I leave this hotel two voice mails to complain about my stay and they ignore them but then I leave a 1 star review on Google and within minutes, they respond but only here on Google Maps. They STILL did not call me back to explain or apologize. Tells you everything you need to know about this place. And yes, as I stated in the caption, the photo is of me in downtown Yellville, a couple minutes walk from the hotel.

We love that this motel is now pet friendly and that they are giving it the much needed facelift it deserves. The rooms have always been quiet at night, there is a large fire pit to enjoy, along with a pool and nice bluff view. Most recently we stayed in room 103, a remodeled room, and it was a very nice stay. The thoughtful ways they made the room feel larger, such as a barn sliding bathroom door instead of a traditional hinged door, made a huge difference. Very minor complaints (needs a hook or 2 in the bathroom, the toilet is very close to the shower base, so long legged persons be aware, remotes for ceiling fan/lights are sensitive to neighbor’s), but overall a very nice place to stay and I would say an even better remodel, light and design wise, than similar motels have done recently (like the Ozarker Lodge)! We look forward to staying in a remodeled King suite once one becomes ready!
