Le Biblo Hotel Boutique — Hotel in Montevideo

Certain places deserve a long review, and le Biblo is one of them. I had the pleasure of staying at this stunning boutique hotel; a gem, where simplicity rules over the magnificent elegance of the mansion and its garden. Decorated with a sober classic but creative taste where all details have been considered. Wall tapestry, carpets, furniture, decorative pieces and books are scattered all over the mansion for the pleasure of the mind and the eye. Relaxing corners hidden around the house and a garden that invites you to bath in a relaxed and quiet atmosphere. The library is a master piece (it is actually a copy of the Legislative Palace library of the Capital) and invites guest to discover a wide array of interesting eclectic books. The sunny and airy breakfast room overlooks the lush front garden and by some kind of magic, turns into a sophisticated dining room in the evening. The weather was good enough for me to indulge around the pool, a heaven of peace surrounded by beautiful plants. The location was perfect too as I did not need to be in the centre of Montevideo and I really love the area of Carrasco with its shops, restaurants and the sense of safety you have in this neighbourhood.||I stayed in one of their apartment at the back of the main Mansion. A mix of modern and classic furniture that it might not have the perfect layout for everybody as it is designed as a loft, open space kitchen on one of the double bed with a sitting area separated from the second bedroom but with no door and you have to go through the second bedroom to get to the bathroom. Nothing wrong or right with this lay out, just that this is more a layout for families traveling with children than it would be for couples travelling together as is leave little privacy. Unfortunately those details are not clear on their website so it has the potential to ruin your stay. My recommendation is to contact the hotel and make sure that whatever room type you book is really fitting your requirement. Fortunately this was not an issue for me and did not affect my first impression of the place.|| I enjoyed so much the character this property and as I returning to Montevideo during my stay in Uruguay with no pre booked accommodation, I decided to go back and had the pleasure to be up grated to their Suite Deluxe, a beautiful room with a separate private living room and bath room fit for a king. This boutique hotel gave me the opportunity to discover more of the Mansion featuring a hidden bar behind bookshelves as well as secret doors hiding closets and bathrooms. ||To the surprise of many guests, there are not set a la carte menu for dinner; instead guests are offered a choice of dishes prepared according to seasonal products available in season with the special seal of a very creative chef. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. ||This is really a private home run by its owner with very little staff, where guest can feel the warmth hospitality that characterized the Uruguayan people. Tatiana, the hotel supervisor is a kind, sweet and attentive pillar of this business that will always go the extra mile to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable. If this is your first time in Uruguay bear in mind that Uruguayans are gentle people and you will get whatever problem you might encounters solve much more rapidly. Uruguayan if you approach them with good manners rather than having a demanding attitude. Uruguayans are about people not about status, once you understand that your stay in the country will be delightful. If you do speak Spanish I would recommend enjoying the front entrance sitting area, indulging with a glass of Uruguayan wine after 10pm.Why after 10pm, because this is the time you will have a chance to interact with one of the most knowledgeable person about Uruguayan history, culture and politics I have met in Uruguay, an easy statement for someone like me that leaved in Uruguay for more than 15 years. So if you are interested in Uruguayan history don’t loose on the opportunity to speak with the night porter. You will be fascinated by the “personage”, a man from a humble background that had a vision for himself as a kid, pushing his friends in a wheel barrow pretending to be the chauffeur of the nation`s president; a dream he pursued and lived to see come true. ||If you are a demanding guest that needs to have staff available at any moment, this might not be the place for you, but if you are willing to look at your stay with a more open vision, leaving behind you the “rat race” of modern society, your stay will be a great experience. ||I can definitely say that the Biblo has become my favourite place in Montevideo and I cannot thank the staff and the owner enough for a wonderful and...

Ciertos lugares merecen una larga reseña, Le Bibló es uno de ellos. Tuve el placer de alojarme en este fantástico boutique hotel; una maravilla, donde la simplicidad gobierna sobre la magnífica elegancia de la mansión y su jardín. Decorado con un gusto sobrio clásico pero creativo con una atención especial en cada detalle. Tapices de pared, alfombras, muebles, piezas decorativas y libros están diseminados por toda la mansión para el placer de la mente y la vista. Rincones tranquilos diseminados en el interior y exterior de la mansión; el jardín invita a disfrutar de un ambiente relajado y tranquil. En cuanto a la biblioteca, una verdadera obra maestra (en realidad es una copia de la biblioteca del Palacio Legislativo de la Capital) con su amplia gama de libros eclécticos. La sala de desayunos es amplia y soleada con vistas al exuberante jardín del frente de la mansión, que por arte de magia se convierte en un sofisticado restaurante por la noche gracias al refinamiento de la iluminación. Durante mi estadía en Noviembre, el clima fue lo suficientemente bueno para disfrutar de la piscina, un paraíso de paz rodeado de hermosas plantas. La ubicación fue perfecta para mí ya que no tenía necesidad de estar en el centro y me encanta la zona de Carrasco con sus comercios, restaurantes y su seguridad. || ||Me quedé en uno de sus apartamentos en la parte trasera de la mansión. Una combinación de muebles modernos y clásicos que puede que no tenga el diseño perfecto para todos, ya que está diseñado tipo loft con una la cocina americana de barra alta integrada al primer dormitorio. El segundo dormitorio separado del primero por una pared divisoria que da sensación de privacidad sin realmente lograr intimidad debido a que hay que pasar por el segundo dormitorio para acceder al cuarto de baño. Este diseño se adapta mejor a familias viajando con hijos que estadías de parejas o amigos viajando juntos. Desafortunadamente la página web no provee este tipo de detalles, lo cual tiene el potencial de arruinar la estadía de algunos huéspedes desde el vamos al no corresponder a lo que esperaban. Les recomiendo se pongan en contacto con el hotel antes de hacer su reserva para asegurarse que el tipo de habitación o apartamento que reserven este adaptado a sus necesidades. ||Al quedarme varias semanas en Uruguay con algunos días sin reserva precia de alojamiento, decidí volver a hospedarme en Le Bibló. Para mi segunda estadía, tuve la suerte de beneficiar de un upgrade y disfrutar de la Suite Deluxe, una hermosa habitación con una sala de estar independiente y cuarto de baño digno de un rey. ||Esta segunda estancia me dio la oportunidad de descubrir mas encantos de la Mansión, como el bar escondido detrás de las estanterías de libros o las puertas secretas que esconden armarios y baños.||Para sorpresa de muchos invitados, no hay un menú a la carta para las cena; en cambio ofrece una selección de platos preparados de acuerdo con los productos de temporada disponibles este día con la indudable marca un chef muy creativo. La comida fue deliciosa y a precio muy razonable.||Este Boutique Hotel es verdaderamente una casa privada dirigida por su propietario y la ayuda de un equipo pequeño donde los huéspedes están inmersos en la cálida hospitalidad que caracterizó al pueblo uruguayo. Tatiana, la supervisora del hotel y restaurante, es uno de los pilares de la mansión, amable, dulce y atenta, que hará lo imposible para que la estadía de los huéspedes sea placentera y disfrutable. || Si están considerando un viaje a Uruguay por primera vez, es importante que tengan en cuenta que los uruguayos son personas amables, respetuosas y que tienen sus prioridades humanas muy claras. Actitudes demandantes o soberbias nunca os dará resultados positivos, en contra parte si adoptáis una actitud respetuosa y amable, les garantizo que cualquier Uruguayo que encontráis ira más allá de su obligaciones profesionales para ayudaros a resolver cualquier problema que podáis encontrar ara que vuestra estadía sea inolvidable. ||||Si sois de habla hispana, les recomiendo disfrutar de la terraza del jardín al frente de la Mansión disfrutando de un vinito uruguayo después de las 22h. Por qué después de las 10 p.m? simplemente porque tendrán la oportunidad de conversar con el sereno, un personaje sencillo con un bagaje intelectual y un conocimiento de su país impresionante. Uno de los hombres más culto y autentico que he conocido en Uruguay. En los 15 años en el pasado durante los cuales vivi en Uruguay, nunca había tenido el placer de conocer a un personaje tan auténtico, una verdadera enciclopedia viviente sobre la historia, la cultura y la política del Uruguay. Un hombre de origen humilde que de niño paseaba a sus amigos en una caretilla, pretendiendo ser el chofer del presidente del Uruguay. Un sueño que persiguió y vivió para hacerlo realidad. ||||Si sois viajeros exigentes con necesidad de tener el personal del hotel a su disposición constantemente, puede que Le Bibló no sea el lugar adecuado para ustedes pero si lo que buscáis es autenticidad y estáis dispuestos a ir más despacio y a deleitaros con lo que os rodea, vuestra estadía en Le Bibló será una muy linda experiencia.||||Definitivamente puedo decir que Le Bibló se ha convertido en mi lugar favorito en Montevideo y no puedo agradecer lo suficiente al personal y al propietario por una estadía maravillosa y...

We stayed here for 2 nights while we re-explored Carrasco/Montevideo-our first return in 24 years since living there. We were given the stinky basement room (with 1 queen bed, 2 twin beds, kitchen, 1 bathroom). As soon as you entered the room/s there was a strong smell of sewer gases. How you can let guests stay there with that awful stench? Initially we thought it was just be for the first few hours, but we then realized that the smell was always there (every time we entered and exited). The bathtub shower curtain was moldy and looked like it had not been cleaned in a very long time (but how hard is it to toss in a washing machine?) Kitchen was dirty overall, in need of a good clean. Looked under bed and full of dust bunnies. Both my husband and I wondered when this room had been properly cleaned last? Most importantly, security was very lacking. Throughout times of the day and throughout the night, anyone could wander onto the property. As we had the basement property, there was no lighting at night in order to get down to our room. I think in this day and age, lights and technology go hand in hand to make security a priority. In fact, one of the mornings coming out of the room there was a stray dog sitting right outside the room. Really the only reason we stayed here was because of the location and the price point.
