Mixed Experience with Ups and Downs

I recently dined at your establishment, drawn in by the allure of traditional Uruguayan parrillada. While certain aspects of my experience left a positive impression, there were also notable disappointments.

Let me begin with the positives: The service was exemplary, with a friendly and attentive waiter who skillfully handled a cooking mishap, promptly replacing a wrong term cut with a complimentary one cooked to the correct term. Kudos for such swift and courteous resolution.

The portion sizes were commendably generous, and the atmosphere was delightful. Now, onto the culinary details:

Serrano Ham with Goat Cheese, Olive Oil, and Parmesan: A solid start, with well-served ham and a pleasing combination of flavors.

Garcia Provolone Cheese: While the dish was tasty, the provolone lacked the characteristic smokiness expected from a parrilla preparation. Nevertheless, the fresh and crisp vegetables added a delightful touch.

Filleted Gizzard: Unfortunately, the sweetbreads were overcooked, resulting in a tough and somewhat dry texture. The traditional crispy outside and tender inside were amiss, and an extra dose of lemon helped but wasn’t enough to fix this. Just a correction to your menu, only birds have “gizzards” you should fix your menu to say “sweetbread” which is the proper translation of “mollejas”.

Master Baby Beef Premium: This was the low point of the meal. Despite the evident quality of the beef, both the initial well-done cut (when medium was requested) and the subsequent replacement, while correctly cooked, felt like a downgrade in terms of cut quality. It was just not the same cut.

Arugula Salad with Apple, Nuts, and Goat Cheese: The salad showcased fresh, crisp vegetables with well-balanced seasoning.

Traditional Dulce de Leche Pancake: A delightful conclusion to the meal, these pancakes were a true highlight, boasting superb texture and flavor.

In summary, your establishment displayed exceptional service, generous portions, and moments of culinary delight, particularly with the dulce de leche pancakes. However, the inconsistencies in certain dishes, especially the Master Baby Beef, left me with mixed feelings. I hope that the kitchen can refine its execution to match the great service...

Well I clearly ordered the wrong thing! I ordered the salmon and shrimp with veggies dish. The salmon and shrimp was covered in sauce and was very over cooked and underwhelming. The veggies were also overcooked, mushy and uneditable. I didn’t realize the dish would be covered in sauce as it was not mentioned on the menu. I know I was in trouble when I was not asked how did I prefer my salmon cooked. The shrimp was hard and curled up tightly from the over cooking. The vegetables were totally demolished. I did order a salad which was plain but the lettuce tomato’s and onions were fresh. My dish was dropped up by a server and I never saw my waiter again, he disappeared after taking my order. No one came to check on me after my food was delivered. I was starving so I scraped off the ridiculous amount of sauce and picked through the salmon to find editable pieces. After sitting for 45 minutes I flagged down a random server asking for my check. Viola my waiter magically appears with my check and the credit card machine. He proceeds to ring me up and ask me about the propina (tip). I kindly told him that he never came back to my table. He told me that he was working with another server. The restaurant was not busy and I saw him mingling with others on the other side of the restaurant. I just looked at him and repeated you never came back to my table. I had to refill my water glass and no one checked on me regarding my meal. I believe in tipping but I just couldn’t for this poor experience of service and...

Un restaurante muy lindo y acogedor. En la entrada nos recibieron muy bien y nos acomodaron en una mesa muy buena. El mozo nos atendió bien,trayendo incluso hasta hielo sin habérselo pedido,pero con poca simpatía. Escribió en su libreta nuestro pedido y nos lo trajo en poco tiempo. Yo pedí pasta por lo que me trajo queso rallado, seco y duro,en un pote abierto sin tapa . Nos trajeron toda la comida junta para que pudiéramos comer todos al mismo tiempo. Lo primero que puso en la mesa un plato de papas fritas que nadie había pedido, pero pensé que sería un acompañamiento extra. Luego las carnés que pidieron mi hija y señora muy ricas y a punto justo del pedido. Y mi plato de pasta. O sorpresa , cuándo voy a comer mis sorrentinos con salsa de puerros, me encuentro que son ravioles con salsa García. Cuando fui a reclamarle al mozo había desaparecido y no lo encontré por todo el salón. Bueno le digo a mi señora e hija que me los comía sin problema; para comer todos juntos, a pesar que no era lo que yo pedí y mi señora me dice a mi también me cambiaron la ensalada por papas fritas pero no importa. Bueno terminamos de comer lo que nos trajeron, no lo que pedimos, y nos pusimos a charlar,charlar y charlar. Pero nadie nos atendía, nuestro mozo seguía desaparecido. Como mi hija quería postre,me levanté y fui hablar a la recepción. Pedí que alguien nos levantara los platós y le conté todo lo sucedido. Una persona mayor que estaba contando mucha plata ,me escuchó mis críticas, pero casi que ni me registró, y se excusó diciéndome que había sido una noche muy complicada y que nuestro mozo había terminado su turno. Otro mozo que me escuchó cuando pasaba me dijo que me levantaba los platos enseguida y nos tomaban el pedido de postre. El recepcionista seguía contando plata casi sin mirarme, por lo que YO le pedí disculpas por molestarlo , con tanto trabajo que él tenía. Lamentable sin palabras,me fui a la mesa,muy decepcionado y triste por lo acontecido. Pero ocurrió algo que me hizo reír muchísimo y me re diverti. La frutilla de la torta ,lo que faltaba para terminar. Mi hija comenzó a gritar . Si una CUCARACHA del tamaño de un tanque de guerra se nos acercaba, parecía que nos quería atacar de verdad. Mi hija y mi señora paradas y corriendo de un lado a otro a los gritos junto a otras personas de origen panameño peor que ellas que se subían a las sillas y yo desparramado en mi silla matando me de la risa. La gente del restorán ni se acercó, uno desde lejos gritó vienen de afuera, pero por lo grande y pucheriada que estaba seguro venía de la cocina. Bueno luego de esto apareció un mozo con una bolsa muy elegante con el logo de la casa y me dije,a de ser un presente, tal vez un vino de la casa, por todo lo sucedido, pero no. Nos dieron las sobras de nuestros platos, mi mascota agradecida. Luego de que mi hija terminó lo que pudo de una crema arenosa y con mucha azúcar demasiado requemada pedí la cuenta. Talvez allí tendría alguna remuneración, pero no ,me cobraron hasta los $360 pesos por los cubiertos y una panera con 4 o 5 panes . Me fui,me acompañaron a la salida me abrieron hasta la puerta muy cordialmente. Pero no vuelvo nunca más. Y eso que soy cliente de hace más de 40 años. Old Style Charme 👌 Established over 50 years ago, Garcia is a well known fixture in Carrasco near the impressive Sofitel hotel. Well trained and experienced staff welcomed us and provided a service above average. Indoor and outside seating including a well stocked bar offer seating possibilities according to your preferences. An additional highlight is the outstanding and ample wine selection. Yesterday, we opted for the generous portion of the tasty Trilogia de Mar for 2, a nicely cooled Rosado, mouth watering Dulce de Lecce and coffee. 🌹 We are already looking forward to try out a dish from the tempting meat selection...

🇺🇸Sep. 21, 2024, After 4 years I returned to the restaurant for a delicious baby beef. Unfortunately, this time, I was very surprised and disappointed. The texture of the meat was very greasy, like never before. I called the waiter, told him that the meat was not baby beef with all this fat, in fact, I showed him the picture that the restaurant has on its website. They are serving a meat that is not the one that appears in the photo on the website. The waiter very kindly exchanged it for a new piece, and unfortunately, also with a lot of fat. It is unfortunate that a classic place has lowered its quality. 🇪🇸 Sep. 21, 2024, Despues de 4 años volvi al restaurant por un delicioso baby beef. Desafortunadamente, esta vez, me he llevado una gran sorpresa y disilucion. La textura de la carne presentaba muchisima grasa, como nunca antes. Llame al mozo, le dije que la carne no era baby beef con toda esta grasa, es mas, le mostre la imagen que el restaurante tiene en su website. Estan sirviendo una carne que no es la que aparece en la foto de la website. El mozo muy amable me lo cambio por uno nuevo trozo, y lamentablemente , tambien con mucha grasa. Es lamentable que un lugar clasico, haya bajado su calidad. 🇧🇷 21 de setembro de 2024, depois de 4 anos voltei ao restaurante para comer um delicioso baby beef. Infelizmente, desta vez, fiquei muito surpreso e decepcionado. A textura da carne tinha muita gordura, como nunca antes. Liguei para o garçom, falei para ele que a carne não era baby beef com toda essa gordura, aliás, mostrei para ele a imagem que o restaurante tem em seu site. Estão servindo uma carne que não é a que aparece na foto do site. O garçom muito gentil trocou para mim por uma peça nova, e infelizmente, também com muita gordura. É lamentável que um lugar clássico tenha diminuído a sua qualidade.
