As first comment, it is fair to clarify that even though I live in London, I´m originally from Uruguay, and know the hotel standards in the country very well, and keeping some real good hotels out of the consideration, the Jean Clevers is definitely a very good option in both, relative and absolute terms. And for Punta del Este standards, when in the summer there are real horrendous places charging crazy prices, the Jean Clevers is an option definitely worth to consider. Room is spacious, clean, well equipped, and the staff is very friendly. I rented an appartment for one week in Punta, was invited to a party on Dec 30th, needed a place to stay with my family for one night (because returned the apartment on the 30th in the morning and did not want to drive back to Montevideo after the party before heading back to London) and found 2 rooms at this hotel.||||From a location point of view, is not great because is not close to the beach, hence a car is needed, but the postive is that the hotel has a great park, very spacious, nice for a walk, and a great swimming pool. ||||When I was living in Uruguay, back in 2006 I used to go to this hotel in winter on week ends, and we always had very nice stays too. Only aspect where the hotel needs to work a bit is in updating the furniture and some equipment....is the same I used to see almost 10 years ago. Another comment is that wi -fi performance was quite poor. Same performance standard I experienced in other hotels in Uruguay, but definitely below any standard in the US and Europe.||||All in all a great place to stay, a calm corner in a place like Punta del Este which is very busy and noisy...
Read moreAs you drive up to the Parque Hotel Jean Clevers you may think you have approached a very high-end, luxury hotel. And you have - Uruguyan-style. The property and main areas are gorgeous, including a lovely pool. The hotel rooms are somewhat outdated and small, however. I had a room on the first floor and overlooked the gym / parking lot (room 4).||||The air conditioner took me a moment to figure out, but worked well once I got it going. The TV on the other hand, was a mystery to me as to how to turn it on. Oh well, who needs TV in Puntal! ||||The hotel breakfast buffet was basic - until I realized that you could order eggs, etc. The coffee was nice and plentiful.||||I think the main attraction of this hotel is the friendly and helpful staff (and the pool!). They are kind and go out of their way to ensure you are enjoying your stay.||||The hotel is close to a grocery store - which is nice. They have a great selection of Uruguayan wines - don't miss...
Read moreThe hotel is placed on nice spot of punta del este, but i consider it VERY expensive for service provided, im my oppinion it´s not adecuate for a 4 star, and segment pretended. Example: NO ligth on the bathroom and smell of tobacco on room 112. Poor attended breakfast, there is not nespresso or spresso coffee, lack of fresh fruit and you have to ask if you want scrambled eggs or omellette for breakfast (if you have to beg is not service), they have a Cook for breakfast, but they dont offer any food. Another topic, asked for an extra bed , and charged me 100usd without telling me price, or offering another room. Service level, is a 2 star, and price and target guest are 4 or 5 stars. We spend 2 nights almost all the time out of the hotel, but nobody offered us any kind of service. I will never come back to the hotel or restaurant due the lack of service, and oldfashioned not focused...
