If you are looking for an oasis from the otherwise garish area of Punta del Este, look no farther than Petit Chateau. While it only is a few blocks from a very nice beach, it is another (and better world) than the general over built bright lights of Punta del Este, which has a feel of Miami Beach south.||||Most of the rooms are around a nice sized very tranquil pool area which is quite relaxing. ||This is a place for adults, and I do not believe young children are allowed so it is a peaceful respite. The rooms on the second floor which overlook the pool are very spacious and have a balcony.||||There is a very nice buffet breakfast served which is included in the price of the room. Moreover, some of the cakes and fruit are left out to eat during the day after breakfast is finished being served. ||||The staff speak adequate to very good English and are very helpful with questions and dinner suggestions. Serena was particularly nice in finding us restaurants and even asked something about our likes and preferences before making suggestions and ultimately making reservations for us. (Note some restaurants will offer discounts if you are seated before 7:30. Dining tends to be later here than in the US, and restaurants are not in full swing until about 10:00)||||Petit Chateau offers bikes that can be used, beach chairs and umbrella that can be taken to the beach as well as beach towels. They allowed us to use the beach chairs and umbrellas after we had checked out of the hotel. We spent time on the beach until about 2:00 before the easy drive back to Montevedeo.||||The only down side with the hotel is we (others who were not Americans) had trouble charging our smart phones. We ultimately went to an electronics store in town that allowed us to recharge our phone.||||However, this one inconvenience pails when compared to the comfort, service and high standards that Petit...
Read moreWe stayed here for 3 days at the end of our trip to Argentina. This is a small family run hotel with just 17 rooms in a residential area not the town centre. Worth having a superior room as they look out onto a beautiful garden with a large pool where you can sit all day without the hustle and bustle of the beach.||All room have air conditioning and superb WiFi with a router in each room. All very clean||Breakfast is plentiful with a choice of fruit, pastries both sweet and savoury and all home made. It is served at a decent hour from 8.30-11am and there are hot drinks, fruit and cake around all day as well as on tap cold water.||They lend you bikes, beach chairs and umbrellas and the beach is a 5 minute walk away to Playa Mansa. There is a supermarket less than 10mins away in Puerto shopping which is excellent and we brought lunch back to the hotel and they gave us plates to eat from. They do not serve lunch or dinner.||The staff are extremely helpful and I would stay here again...
Read moreThis is an outstanding little hotel, for the ones that seek rest and tranquility. They have a nice peaceful garden, with a small wooden pavilion, beach chairs and a climatized pool. The pool does have an inclination and is probably close to 3 meters at the deepest end. The room was nice, modern, had a small balcony, which was nice to sit at. The personnel is very nice and helpful, we communicated with them in both English and Spanish. The breakfast has a lot of variety and I think most of it is home made and it's definitely well made. You can also have an omelet made by the kitchen in the morning. Some days they have a Yoga instructor to come by, which is a nice additional, that I enjoyed.||So, all in all we really enjoyed...
