Pros:
Excellent location only a 7-minute walk from the Savitsky Museum. (I highly recommend you go; although expensive for Uzbekistan at 95,000 soms, there is excellent modern art from Russian artists who immigrated to the country in the first half of the 20th century.) I stayed in room 214. Incredibly spacious. Comfortable temperature. Quiet. Good WiFi including for social uploads. Comfortable bed and the lovely big, thick pillows I’ve had in accommodations all over Uzbekistan. Outlets by the bed. No issue with hot water in the shower. Mini soaps and shampoo packets provided. Hotel recommended tour group to head to the shop graveyard outside Moynaq. Can pay by credit card. Buffet breakfast included and typically Eastern (tomatoes/fruit/lavash/samsa/ yogurt but you can ask for eggs to be made for you. First time I’ve had brown bread this trip and was excited!
Cons: Sweet-sour sewage smell in the bathroom. I told the front desk and asked if he understood… he said yes but obviously didn’t as nothing was done. With the door closed it was bearable for the night. Please include butter as an option...
Read moreThis hotel is way too expensive for the quality and service you get. It's about 50% more expensive than every hotel or guest house we stayed in throughout Uzbekistan and by far the worst place we stayed. The breakfast was not very good, and the shower was a joke--a bathtub without a shower curtain you stand in and can't help but get water all over the floor. The bed was hard and the room wasn't nicely decorated nor comfortable in any way. Plus, they charged us 100,000 UZS (about $8 US) for an early check in. They wanted 150,000, but I complained and they reduced it. We've checked in early in two other hotels in Uzbekistan and no one ever mentioned an extra charge. I think the owners are money-hungry and working off their old reputation. We stayed here the night before our Aral Sea trip and then in a private apartment in Nukus after our trip which was infinitely more comfortable, nicer and cheaper. Stay away...
