If you are looking for a place to stay in Vila that is $100 glorified backpackers in a central location your choices are really beween here and the Casino. i will list the good and the bad of our stay
The Good - -View is outstanding -Location is central so at night you are in walking distance to all of the nightlife -The air conditioning worked -The studio apartment was spacious -Swimming pool area is nice and no one bothers you if you bring your own food or drinks. -The staff who cleaned the rooms were friendly and did a good job, the only ones we tipped.
The Bad- -We stayed next door to a couple who smoked. Whenever we opened the door to our balcony to soak in the view or get some fresh air our room filled up with cig stench. -The breakfast/restaurant situation was bad. Your complimentary breakfast is a coffee (dont order the latte all the milk on the island is long life) a juice and your choice of weet bix and fruit or eggs on toast. You are going to get sick of either after a few days and have to pay $25+ each for breakfast. On Sunday the staff seemed resentful about working and all of the breakfasts took over 45 minutes to come out. After an hour we still didn't have our breakfast and walked out hungry. I asked to see the Manager but they don't work Sundays. We paid for dinner one time. The food was actually quite good but it was a bit expensive and we preferred to eat at the Reefers Rum bar about 500m up the road. -The air conditioner worked but made a heap of noise, so much that sometimes I had to switch it off or nto sleep. I asked them to have a look at it but it worked the same. eventually I worked out that if you thump it really hard in just the right spot it stops. Winning -The staff were friendly but not particularly effective. We asked them to make reservations or check on things and they didnt seem particularly fussed either way, like with the air conditioner. -Being close to the town centre means you are far away from the things you want to do during the day. There is no swimming in the ocean allowed on this side of the island so you have to get a taxi to Mele. Wherever you stay in Vila though you will need to get a Taxi so this isn't that big of a deal.
Would we stay here again? Probably. I'm sure the casino has its own issues and if we happened to be next to non smokers or had a less noisy air conditioner we would have been...
Read moreThe pool was the best feature about it. There was one staff member, Jennifer who was a room cleaner who was the only one that spoke to us and was very helpful. There was also kayaks available to be used but we only found this out in the last 2 days of our stay because no one told us and they weren’t mentioned in the hotel book.
Disliked · At first I thought it was reasonably priced however over our 10 night stay I really wish I booked elsewhere. The bed was hard and uncomfortable and sheets were scratchy. The balcony constantly had stagnant water around the edges and the room just did not look like the nice crisp white pictures on the website. Our shower head had very poor water flow and the toilet was not thoroughly cleaned. The bathroom sink splashed water at you when the tap is turned on and the best part is our ceiling fan/light had a mind of its own and would turn on and off whenever it wanted to. We did mention this to a staff member who said someone would look at it but it was never resolved because “they watched it and nothing happened” Some nights we would have to turn the light off 5-6 times before we gave up and slept without the ceiling fan at all. Great in a tropical location. We were waiting in our room for a tour one day and the fan turned itself on and off 3 times. The light on our balcony also did not work. Breakfast was included in our stay however we only had two options (eggs on toast or fruit and cereal) which by the end of 10 days we could barely stomach. At first the bread was nice and thick but then it was thin small slices which was always burnt. There was no elevator and stairs were dangerously slippery if you had wet feet. Absolute premium priced stay for a very mediocre...
Read moreStayed at chantilys for ten nights. The service was very poor, not once were we asked if we wanted a drink or something to eat,so we went to the local supermarket and brought our own beer and snacks and consumed them around the pool etc We had a few issues with our room, Ie: balcony light not working Tv remote not compatible to the tv Dirty pillows in the cupboured Towels were grey not white no face washers The staff that served us breakfast always wore dirty uniforms, stains that have been on their shirts along time There was false information in the book in the room it read pool towels in room we queried this’ll as there were nopool towels we were told to use our bath towels yuk !!! We were told then by fellow holiday makers to get the towels from the front desk. The wood fire pizzas were almost Invisable a very thin base with one piece of meet in each section cut The wake up call we requested was 20 minutes late transfers were through evergreen they picked us up drove us to the location, not one word was uttered they dropped us off. we were given our key and left to find our room carrying our luggage then we had a phone message from evergreen to say we had a free excursion around the island the next day. We waited the next morning in the foyer but no show no one wanted to know. They arrived 30 minutes early to pick us up to take us to the airport made us rush. But one good point was the coffee which was great even though we had to chase staff to get one The hotel is situated at the end of town Which is no problem as the walk into town is very nice, but the hotel just needs a little TLC and better staff wouldn’t...
