Overall “ok” stay. Lots of little things took away from the experience. If someone could make a few modifications this could be a really nice hotel. We might try the other Marriott next time. I believe the other Marriott (same name) is older and has hotel rooms & villas but I see a few more positive reviews. This location is newer and more modern which is nice but missing the details Someone needs to do a bit of a refresh to help improve the overall experience. The simple details make a difference. Nice place but could be so much better. Rooms/villas: really large & spacious! 2dbr has more than enough from for 8ppl but only enough beds for 4 (maybe and a cot). Big kitchen with lots of cabinet space but nothing in the cabinets. No plates, utensils or cups outside of cups for coffee/tea. There is bottled water in the room and is re-filled daily or upon request. Rooms have robes, slipper, one bath tub, safe, travel toiletries and bath soap/shampoo/conditioner. Some of the issues: no power outlets near the bed and limited options in the living/dining area. No USB charging either. Many many light switches. Loads of beetles, mostly dead but a few make it into the room (big cockroaches too).
Facilities: small gym but good enough for vacation workout. Not usually busy so easy to get a quick 30 minute workout in. There are towels and detox water nice music and staff to help you. Gym is located on the second floor, on the first floor is the spa. Inside the spa there is a sauna Jacuzzi and steam room. All are free/included in your room, rate.
Food/drinks: simple menu with a few items not as expensive as we would’ve liked, but OK. The breakfast buffet was nice and has a good selection of western and Asian food. There is an egg station, noodle station and a freshly cooked pancake waffle French toast station. Getting a coffee at breakfast takes a bit of time so make sure you have some patience. There are double check is also plenty of salad and fresh fruit and yogurt available. We use grab food for some items because not enough Vietnamese options. Lots of Korean tourists, so the menu seems to be more suited for that group. The biggest issue with the food and beverage is ordering at the pool. Every order they print a different bill based off of which menu you order from. So expect every order to have at least three different bills to sign. One bill for the pool menu one for the room service menu (side of fries is on room service menu not pool menu) and one for alcohol. There should be a way to combine all the items into one bill so that you’re not signing multiple. Also, even if you order from the same menu, but the order comes in slightly later that ends up being on a separate bill too. The other drawback is that if you want to make an order while sitting at the pool, do you have to flag down somebody or go inside to place your order. This makes ordering poolside, not so convenient. The food is ok.
Beach: clean, soft, sand, and quiet. They have small soccer net in volleyball net to play on the beach which was nice. I believe there are other beach games available as well. There are a few beach, chairs and tables, but getting service on the beach is nearly impossible. If you want a drink or water or any food, you basically need to go to the pool area and flag down a waiter. We did see if use jellyfish in the ocean, but not too many. The waves are a little strong, but the water is shallow, so safe enough for most people. Also a lifeguard on duty which is nice.
Staff: everyone was very friendly and helpful. The level of English is not very high, but with such a positive attitude, you don’t...
Read moreCan you have 5 star relaxation? Sort of is the answer.||This hotel does not hit the 5 star level. That said a stay here is enjoyable and the hotel has many positive attributes. When in the poorer parts of Asia, like Vietnam, one must expect things to be shoddy and a bit off. This hotel in no different. However, if one overlooks the shoddy the overall experience is pleasant. I break down the pros and the cons.||Pros|1. Outstanding beach. Powdery sand, shallow sandy ocean and nice warm ocean water.|2. Friendly staff. A special shout out to Tony and Alan the buggy drivers. Staff by and large are very kind.|3. Large rooms as they are villas.|4. Location is far enough from town to be peaceful but close enough to be in range for dinners or a night in the city.|5. The oceanfront 3 bedroom villas are superb for the direct ocean access and a great view.|6. Sane F&B pricing.|7. Reasonably appointed rooms (less wear and tear). Bed was comfortable.|8. The Beach BBQ was a nice event and worth a visit|9. There is a market across the street.||Cons|1. The physical condition of the rooms is shocking. They are both poorly cleaned and poorly maintained. I added some photos. Expect huge gaps between the floor boards, smeared caulking, smeared paint, broken everything, cracks, water stains and more. If this bothers you do not stay here.|2. No blackout curtains. Pack an eye mask if you want to sleep.|3. The resort is spread out so using the buggy service is required at times. That said it was efficient 90% of the time.|4. The internet is slow.|5. The bartenders are poorly trained. If you sit at the bar in the beach house and order a drink expect the bartender to attend to 10 other things before bothering to make your drink. That is insulting. Service is very slow.|6. Food safety issues are a problem. I watched a bartender use the mixing spoon to drop a sample of each mixed drink on his hand to taste it. The problem was he did not wash the mixing spoon and did this repeatedly placing the sample where he just licked his hand. That is not food safe. USE A NEW STRAW TO SAMPLE!!!|7. The AC in public areas is very poor.|8. The pool is on the small side.|9. They only provide 2 bottles of water per bedroom complimentary. This amenity costs very little.|10. No power points in bathrooms. Cannot use hairdryer.|11. The concierge gave us poor advice to eat at Moc Quan as one cannot get a table. They said they take no reservations when in fact the did. This made our first night very disjointed.||Overall, I suggest staying in the 3 bedroom ocean villa. The location and direct access to the beach is awesome. Do not come here expecting discernment and Japanese precision. Things are off. This hotel was built as a VinPearl hotel not a Marriott which likely is a factor as well. If you focus on the beach and chilling out in your villa you will have a good stay. We visited the Navi Spa 1.5 km away and that was a superb discovery. Rang Indian restaurant was also worth a visit and is 10...

Check-in was smooth, quick but not hasty, and we received all the information we needed. Whenever we crossed paths with any of the staff, they always greeted us with big smiles and asked how our holiday was going. TIP 1: at check-in, a deposit is made on the credit card, which is released immediately after the bill is paid at check-out. So make sure your credit card has sufficient capacity.|FOOD: Our rate included breakfast and dinner at the Man Ho restaurant. The food was simply delicious. The breakfast buffet offers an extensive selection of pastries, breads, jams, fruit, oriental and western hot and cold dishes (ready-made or freshly cooked), as well as juices and hot drinks served at the table. For those with a sweet tooth, there was even ice cream. The set dinner menu was always of the highest standard. Each night, we enjoyed a different starter, main course and dessert. It's hard to say which one we liked best! The waiters and waitresses were fantastic and attentive to all our preferences. After the first evening, we no longer needed to ask — everything was always prepared to our taste! TIP 2: Before leaving the breakfast buffet, you can ask for something to drink to take away. The iced cappuccino is delicious.|ACCOMMODATIONS: The villas are enormous, beautifully furnished, cosy and functional. Each room has its own bathroom, fully equipped with everything you could need (including mouthwash and bath salts). The bedrooms are spacious, with plenty of wardrobe space and a stunning glass wall. The living room is really spacious, with a sofa and armchairs, a dining table and a kitchen with hob, sink, fridge and freezer (which could be useful if you want to cook). Cups, glasses and spoons are in the cupboards already; just ask for anything else you need. Complimentary bottled water, coffee and tea are provided daily. The magnificent pool has very pleasant water temperature. The outdoor area is fully equipped for sunbathing and relaxation in the shade. The room was always impeccably clean. TIP 3: Ask or bring beach towels from the pool for the sunbeds.|LOCATION AND TRANSPORTATION: The airport is half an hour away, and the resort can arrange transport to suit your needs. The resort is right on the beach, which is perfect for swimming or long walks. The Marble Mountains are just a 20-minute walk away. The resort offers a very attractive transportation service to the most famous attractions in the area. The driver will wait for you on site for the agreed time, which is very convenient! For guests who would prefer not to walk around the resort, there is a fun buggy service. TIP 4: there is a supermarket right in front of the resort that is always open.|We really,...
