The resort is aesthetically beautiful, lots of greenery, a view of the beach and numerous pools.
The breakfast buffet is fantastic with lots of choices for guests if you have no food allergies.
The resort needs to look into how to cater for people with needs for gluten free without cross contamination. Once I happened to bump into the food and beverage manager he said they could make gluten free bread. This was then provided. However on one day it was solid as a rock and on another wasn’t cooked properly and still doughy inside. The only other choice for my son to eat was steamed rice.
Every day when ordering coffees, we had to ask for sugar to come to the table. Often forgotten by staff and we had to ask again. It can’t be so hard to bring it with you when delivering coffees or keep them on the tables. We also rarely received a teaspoon and had to use our chopstick on the table to stir.
The pool menu needs further explanation of what the dishes entail. I ordered a chicken salad and got chicken on top of grapefruit with a few pieces of grated carrot. It would be great to have a make your own salad option, some pizzas and ability to order rice with a piece of protein of your choice grilled. The staff at the pool are haphazard about coming around to people to order. There were days the app just wouldn’t open on my phone and the resort missed out on food orders from us.
The BBQ the resort put on was lovely, just a bit dark and needed more lighting. The staff were able to bbq a plain piece of meat for my son to eat. Again, all the salads had meat in them and it would have been nice to have just make your own salad options.
The rooms were spacious and thoroughly cleaned. The beds and pillows were terribly uncomfortable. We booked this as the last stop on our way home from our holiday to relax, I ended up with terrible back pain and migraines from the bed. Staff were told and couldn’t do more than place some doonas on top of the mattress. So my relaxing part of the holiday never happened as I couldn’t sleep and was told nothing more could be done. My husband also came back home with muscle spasms from the bed and has had to seek medical interventions for it, this has never happened to us before.
The kitchen chairs, when moved by next door and above us can be heard scraping when moved on the tiled floors. It was very irritating when you were trying to rest or sleep. There is not enough PowerPoints on the right locations to accomodate the modern world where people have numerous devices to charge.
A list of nearby restaurants and shops would have been beneficial. We were given this in Hanoi by a hotel we stayed in with a map of suggestions.
It would have also been good to have daily activities organised for guests as there were a significant amount of young kids at the resort. Eg one day we saw a water aerobics style class in the pool, this would have been nice to know about prior. Perhaps a bingo evening or karaoke evening would make the resort more fun for families to get together.
We would never book with the Hyatt regency chain again as no one assisted with the complaint about the beds. When people are paying money for a 5 star resort they expect a certain level of comfort. This didn’t occur here. I suggest you look at the Melia in Hanoi, the beds were incredible and they have a pillow menu to select from so you feel comfortable.
A very disappointing holiday for us. Especially as no compensation of any sort (new bed, new pillows, massages to ease the pain) were offered to us for the dreadful...

We visited in June. We had initially booked a suite but wanted to extend our stay and the suites were fully booked so we switched to a High level, superior king room instead.
Pros:
The grounds are gorgeous and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Lots of the staff also speak great English which helped us a lot since we were struggling to learn Vietnamese.
The room was clean, bright, airy and spacious. The little couch and sitting area was super comfortable and I loved the couch that is on the veranda, overlooking the beach and pool.
There's lots of room for your luggage in the walk in robe which helps keep the room feeling tidy and cosy.
The bed was firm and flat and was also a proper king (not to singles trussed together) which I love. My partner found it a bit too firm but I loved it.
The shower had good water pressure, there was a huge bath and lots of room in the bathroom for all of your things to be spread out comfortably.
You get 2 bottles of water per day which is helpful if you're not used to the tap water. The food at the greenhouse was consistently great.
Cons: There are no screens on the doors so you have to close up the room and have the aircon on to avoid mosquitos. I would have loved to have the ocean breeze instead.
There are no hooks anywhere for the your bags/hats, towels etc
The lighting in the bathroom at night is "mood lighting" which made it hard to get ready to go out. Its fine in the day with the daylight.
The pillows are annoying. There's no pillow menu which is odd for a 5 start hotel. The default is flat, feather down pillows. This is not only cruel but also gave me the most insane allergies. I thought I was sick because after one night I developed a really bad cough and lost my voice - but on the third day of no sleep, a cough and no voice - I got some antihistamines and felt instantly better. I don’t normally have allergies so it took a few days to realise this was the issue.
You can call room service to ask for a "non-down" pillow but it is really high and uncomfortable as well. Pillows seem like such a minor thing but it is the main reason I wouldn’t book there again. It really impacted my sleep and health.
There's a fair bit of construction going on but it wasn't too noisy in the rooms. There were also 3 events held on the beach which were VERY noisy. We went out to avoid it but if you wanted to have a relaxing time it would have been tiresome.
Tips: Higher rooms will have more privacy, the ground level rooms have nothing obstructing everyone's view into your room.
There aren't really any shops nearby and room service closes at 10pm. Go to Da Nang Viacom centre and get some late night snacks and drinks if you're a night person.
The club access grounds were closed so you go to the greenhouse for breakfast. Its chaos with lots of kids coughing into the buffet etc. One day we went down for the 5:30-7:0pm drinks but lots of people were there ordering dinner etc so our drinks took 40 mins to arrive. I didn't really see the value of the club access and wouldn't pay for club access until the actual club has re-opened.
Take a Grab if you go to Hoi An or Da Nang so the taxi can't charge you tons extra.
You get zero privacy in the toilet, it echoes through the room...
Read moreI returned to stay at the Hyatt Regency Danang for the third time this January, this time bringing my parents for their first visit to Danang and Hoi An, and I was once again wowed by this exceptional resort, as were they!
All of the things I enjoyed in my first two visits were just as fantastic this time around. We stayed in a two bedroom suite again which was was nicely decorated and well maintained, impeccably clean, with an amazing ocean view from all rooms. The beds and linens, couches and balcony lounge chair were so comfy, the bathrooms huge with great water pressure, and the amenities such as the robes and bathroom products were all very high quality.
The gorgeous beach, perfect for walks in the cool season, the pool facilities with plenty of lounge chairs, the well equipped and clean gym, and the variety of restaurants all with high quality and delicious food were all once again a pleasure to enjoy. The standard of the breakfast was excellent again, with a good variety and quality of dishes on offer (love the roast pork belly, handmade croissants and fresh pancakes in particular), and attentive staff working hard to provide the best service, even when incredibly busy. The Vietnamese dishes at Pool House remain my favourite, executed perfectly, particularly the pork banh mi, and also local specialties like the cao lau noodles and banh xeo. All so delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the seafood bbq at Beach House, which was amazing! A good spread of appetisers, sides and desserts, and tons of tasty, freshly grilled meats to choose from. Great value too, with free flow drinks, including beer and some very nice wine ,included. And the cookies, cakes and pastries from Baguette were so yummy, especially that almond croissant!
But what impressed most was the service. It is truly impeccable, five star all the way. Even before my stay the staff were quick to respond to my emails and happy to make all sort of arrangements for me, including my request for a room with a good ocean view, which was even better than I expected. I was impressed with all of the staff we encountered...the hardworking servers at breakfast and dinner, the helpful gym and pool staff, and the lovely front desk workers. Of particular note were Hong Dang from the restaurant team who kindly arranged all of my reservations and even offered to arrange an a la carte menu on our first evening so that we wouldn't have to do the buffet on two nights. Tram Le, who checked us in, was wonderful, so warm and welcoming, acknowledging my Hyatt member status and my previous stays, explaining all about the resort and it's facilities, and ensuring all was well with our room, and also Pool House manager Brian who checked in on our meal and ensured we were enjoying our dinner, adding a nice personal touch to our evening. There were no staff members that we interacted with during our stay who were anything other than kind, helpful and professional. Some of the best service I've received in all of my travels.
And because of that service, as well as the excellent facilities, beautiful beach and absolutely delicious food, I will be returning, and I can't wait for...
