I am very unlikely to post a bad review in all my years of international travel, however this 5 star hotel deserves mention. My wife and I booked into the Muong Thanh we did so because of its rating. The staff in general were very pleasant and professional, however, it’s deaf and invisible manager was not. After staying two nights we decided to stay an additional night. The hotel’s internet was terrible and resulted in us accidentally pressing a date 4 weeks ahead as the internet kept jumping. I informed reception within 5 minutes and was told I could not move the date to that evening because the cancellation period ended at 2.30 pm… five minutes after we booked. Such a blatant lie!! I found the assistant manager who was very reluctant to move the date and referred to the deaf and invisible manager who suggested they would move the date to that evening but we would need to pay at a higher amount?? Which was considerably more than the other nights accommodation. I declined and booked on line at a lesser cost. When the manager discovered my audacity, he refused to refund the booking which was made in error due to there internet. The poor assistant manager had no authority and was his obvious shield. The manager had the gall to suggest I gift that errored booking to a friend in a months time !! Such remarkable greed and unprofessional behaviour for a so called 5 star hotel. The $65 dollars we lost was not the issue here. It was a matter of principle, which this manager does not possess. We will never stay here again and advise anyone not wishing to be gauged to avoid this disappointing hotel. Very annoyed...
Read moreI have been to countless hotels and I never felt so welcome..The ladies in reception were more helpful than most places I have been. I originally thought I would book and pay for 3 nights and I would look at the G8 luxury for $25 more a night and when I looked at it it was half as good as I saw on the net.. so I asked reception at my hotel for suggestions.. |Good honest staff in my hotel.. |they didn't just recommend their sister hotel but other hotels.. shows good honesty.. I checked 5 and in the end I just wanted to stay in the same hotel.. the next day was fully booked but the next 3 days I booked.. so I try book the sister hotel.. I called that night but failed to get there and pay.. Bit of good luck there because reception rang me in the morning to tell me and told me they had a room for me.. and this time I was facing east to the river and the beach.. beautiful views |The reception did not stop there.. they helped with tours, taxis, .. |and I looked everywhere to change money.. banks, money changers.. and the hotel changed it for exactly the same rate |The beds are firm but comfortable and the pillow are perfect.. excellent size rooms.. near 50 square metres |Tv was okay had Australia ABC but not much but 2 other movies channels in english..|The bathroom was modern and well appointed. The hairdryer was in main room.. .. |The pool is Mid size.. don't think they do cocktail.. might be wrong..|The gym is a bit small but does the job..|Breakfast was mainly Asian dishes but it had good coffee and fruit bacon and eggs |By the ladies in reception...
Read moreI did not expect this hotel to be a plane-spotting hotel with huge reception area but the room where I stayed in has a beautiful and marvellous view of Danang International Airport afar from the hotel, a skyscraper of 23 floors. In the morning, it is heartwarming to me to see aircraft taking off for the sky on the background of runway and high mountain from the spacious room and it is the remarkable point of my vacation. Scenic beauty aside, the complimentary breakfast has plentiful selections of Vietnamese food and fruits to choose from, for example, brown bread, Vietnamese plums and scores of different salads and the hotel is where Singapore Airlines tickeing office is located, providing convenience to tourists. However, there is miscommunication when I checked out. The hotel staff that oversaw the driver that picked me up showed me to a taxi driver instead. He claimed he was waiting for me. I travelled in that taxi to Danang airport. At the airport, I did not expect the driver to say I had not paid for the transfer. I insisted I did and I told him to call the hotel reception. The receptionist was kind enough to admit miscommunication. She said I entered the wrong car and I did not need to pay further. She said she would compensate the driver. That was kind of the receptionist. I hope the outbound transfer arrangement can be done better by telling the guest the car number and driver's name as I thought there was change in driver after I woke up late due to the lack of wake-up call service...
