Situated in the picturesque town of Sa Pa, Vietnam, the Laxsik Econolodge Resort exudes an aura of peace and natural splendor. The breathtaking sight of Muong Hoa's terraced rice fields against the background of towering mountains that reach into the sky is a sight to behold the instant one sets foot on the property. A work of art in its own right, the resort harmonizes magnificently with its breathtaking environment. The accommodations at the Laxsik Econolodge are first-rate. Every room is immaculately clean and well decorated, providing a haven of refined comfort. Every guest's stay is one-of-a-kind because of the meticulous planning that went into the furniture and decor, which showcases a profound appreciation for local culture and workmanship. Having a meal at the resort is an experience in and of itself. Under the direction of Sa Pa's top chef, the restaurant's menu features a symphony of tastes that will delight diners. With expert preparation and artistic presentation, every dish on the menu showcases the diversity and depth of Vietnamese cuisine. The people who work at Laxsik Econolodge are what make it a special place. Their hospitality is second to none, and they go out of their way to make each guest feel special the minute they arrive. The owner's dedication to giving exceptional service is evident in every connection, fostering an environment of true compassion and camaraderie. The resort has a heated pool that is both beautiful and appealing, and a gym with all the latest equipment to keep you healthy and energized while you rest and rejuvenate. Laxsik Econolodge is perfect since it provides all the amenities you might want, making leaving the resort an option rather than a requirement. With its two bedrooms and complete bathrooms, the Family Bungalow is an ideal getaway for families. On colder evenings, gather around the fireplace in the living area. The H'mong Signature Bungalow is a one-of-a-kind retreat that will delight couples seeking a romantic retreat with its unmatched privacy and elegance. It doesn't matter whatever room you pick; they all have stunning views—possibly the nicest views in Sa Pa. The Deluxe and Family Bungalow are stunning and incredibly comfortable lodgings; I can say this from personal experience. Last but not least, Sa Pa, Vietnam's Laxsik Econolodge Resort is a hidden gem. This resort guarantees an exceptional experience that will make you want to come back again and again, whether you're looking for adventure, leisure, or a little romance.

Our family stayed in a 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom villa with a fire for 3 nights over Christmas and it was really lovely. The resort is on the top of the hill overlooking Lao Chai and La Van Villages which are great for a guided walk with a local villager. The village treks depart (by foot) from the resort which is really nice. We had a really lovely guide named Ping (organised by the resort) and we learned heaps about the local villages and traditions. Please bear in mind that lots of locals will just start walking along with you and they might follow for hours in hope that you might feel obligated to buy something at the end, so we found it best to tell them straight away if we did not want to buy anything from them. Mr Leon and the staff here were all so lovely, happy, friendly and polite. They were always smiling and happy to help, and they went to a huge effort for the Christmas Eve gala which was really good fun. During our stay there were some miscommunications here and there but no harm done and will just leave us with some funny memories of the trip! We ventured into Sapa town for a few hours on a day we weren’t doing anything and it made us realise how much nicer it was to be out of town and with the Lao Chai village at our doorstep. There wasn’t much to do in Sapa I understand it has really changed over the years. Therefore staying at a resort out of town (like this one) will be a quieter and more unique experience for those who want it. I would 100% recommend this place and imagine it would be great at all times of the year: In winter you get that Christmas fee, in rainy season you will see the rice paddies at their most beautiful, and in summer it must be a real paradise when the pool is warm and usable. Thanks for having us and we would definitely return if we ever come back to the area 😊

I wanted to love it but... the restaurant was freezing cold so we were sitting in coats and still chilly, I got stuck in our toilet because the doors are so tall in the room that if you push it and it goes at an angle it jams, and considering it's meant to be an eco-Lodge I was surprised that when I used one of the complimentary razors it was plastic and also got thrown away by housekeeping (mine had snapped in my bag). The breakfast was definitely not my favourite, we went about 8am and things like the chicken soup and dumplings weren't left heated so they weren't that pleasant, plus I found a dark hair in one of the bowls of condiments. Also our fridge was very noisy so I unplugged it while we were there and we didn't realise until we read other reviews on here but we could have had a fire (our fireplace just had the remains of an old fire in it, we couldn't find any wood.) Because the breakfast wasn't great we bought food in Sapa and took it back to the room in the warm rather than eat in the uncomfortable restaurant. Pros - the black coffee on the breakfast buffet, the views of course, the electric heated blanket on our bed, the staff were lovely, lots of fruit on the breakfast buffet. Also when we arrived the safe was already locked but I called reception and they came straight away to unlock it. Finally - some hooks or a towel rail to put towels and damp clothes up on would be such an improvement. We ended up hanging damp towels over the bath and trying to hook hangers holding damp jackets onto the little shelf behind the bath. Totally impractical.

Almost great. We stayed one night here and were immediately impressed with the managers customer service. He greeted us when we parked our bikes and chatted with us about our trip so far. He then offered us a discount on a herbal bath so we could rest and recover our weary muscles after driving so far. The lodge just started showing its flaws from there on.

We would have loved to have enjoyed a relaxing tub but the one in our room had a massive leak so when we filled it halfway up the water poured out a very noticeable crack. Not sure how you possibly miss this considering it didn’t look to be a new issue. The tub had a lot of patchwork on it no doubt because of bad craftsmanship or cheap materials being used to make it. Our room itself was quite nice and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, we were also located adjacent to the kitchen where the staff were playing music and some renovation work was being done. Someone began using an angle grinder at 8am and would use it on and off for a couple of hours. Next to the hotel was a house with a dog that literally barked all night. Right out from of the restaurant, which was near our room, the men who were doing garden work as part of an expansion to the lodge burned excess trimmings and straw (common practise in Vietnam) resulting in large plumes of smoke which made everything smell like smoke for hours and prevented us from sitting on the balcony. The lodge has a pool area and small fitness room which looked quite nice. The only thing I’d complain about though is that in the pictures it looks like there are two smaller pools that one would not be at fault for thinking we’re hot pools because of their size and location. Well, all 3 are cold pools. This felt pretty misleading but also in line with what we have come to expect in Vietnam. It rained the next morning and the overhead cover outside our door where our shoes were leaked. We talked to the manager about this when we went down for breakfast and he said we could dry them in the dryer. When we were checking out later that morning there was a charge on our bill for laundry service. We had to then explain to the front desk staff that the shoes weren’t even washed and that we only needed to use the dryer because the roof leaked. It was resolved easily with a phone call but there was no mention that we would be charged prior to us checking out. One other strange occurrence was when we were sitting at the restaurant shortly after checking in and the manager walked over to a couple who too had recently checked in and brought them each a complimentary beer as a welcome drink. We noticed a welcome drink was included in our booking but we were never brought one. My partner went and inquired later and they brought us sweet tea.

We were looking forward to a relaxing time here but it ended up being a...

The view is fantastic and the staff are very attentive. However, the good things stopped there for us.

It is very, very noisy early in the mornings. Perhaps we should've expected poor soundproofing given we were staying in a wooden bungalow. However, we do think there were a few extenuating situations that could've been avoided if the hotel staff were more considerate.

The space under each of the bungalows is used for storage, so we unfortunately had workmen under our bedroom at 6am, getting out equipment and being generally noisy.

There was also a construction tent behind the bungalows, where they would start work around the same time. When we enquired we were told it was they could make hot water for the pool. On the one hand, fair play; they appear to be acting on previous guests' complaints regarding pool not being heated. However, we would question why that work needs to begin so early when guests have booked in for a relaxing stay.

On one of the days, we had booked massages and a herbal bath for 3:30pm and they were again doing lots of construction on the floor above with drills and hammers. When we asked about the noise, the masseuse seemed angry. She saw that the construction stopped for the duration of our massage, but given how loud the noise was, it was disappointing we had to ask in the first place, and even more disappointing that her response was so curt.

Whilst we were there, they also kept a dog in a small cage near the restaurant, which barked near constantly when in it's cage. Again, the noise seemed to start around 6am and continued throughout breakfast, which didn't create a nice atmosphere and felt at odds with the peaceful jazz piano music they played.

The rooms are pleasant, but the beds were very hard and we found that would wake in the night with back pains (we are in our early 30s and do not have any back issues).

Overall, our stay here was incredibly inconsistent. Staff were polite, but seemed to lack an understanding of what constitutes a relaxing stay/atmosphere. We will not return, and would advise caution if you're looking for a peaceful retreat.

All feedback written here was also provided to the staff...
