We were in SaPa for just two nights, and decided to spend one night in SaPa town, and one in a homestay. What a great decision! It's such a beautiful, peaceful place. You can't help but marvel at the amazing views, being so close to the rice fields and the river. The owner Zoly (pronounced Jolly) was so warm and welcoming, and she really did everything to make us feel at home. For breakfast you choose the night before from a small but varied selection, and in fact it was very nice. We also ate there in the evening too, when there's a larger menu, and it was also good. The rooms are little individual chalets, pretty and spotless. On the day we left we checked out in the morning, and went for a long walk through the neighbouring villages. Zoly looked after our bags, and when we got back to pick them up she let us back into our room so we could have a shower, and supplied us with clean towels. One thing to note is that the homestay doesn't accept card payments, just cash. As it turned out we didn't have enough cash, but it wasn't a problem because Zoly was fine for us to get the hotel taxi back to SaPa at the end of our stay, and give the money to the driver. Which was lucky for us, and very kind of her! If you're visiting SaPa, you really must stay in a homestay, and I doubt you'd find a better one than the Farmer...
Read moreZolly and her family are really nice people. We really enjoyed our stay. Do not expect a 5 star hotel, these are little cabins on the hillside. Sitting in the morning sun looking over the valley (ricefields and mountains) was absolutely gorgeous.
The cabins are located at the start of Lao Chai village. You can walk to nearby Tu Van in about 1 hour. Expect it to be a little hilly. There will be local women trying to (aggressively) sell you stuff. If they approach you do not answer their questions (that will make them follow you) and give them a swift "no shopping" or "no buy anything". Be direct but not rude obviously.
The main village of Sa Pa is about 30-40 minutes away by car. The mt. Fansipan cable station is 40-50 minutes away (depending on traffic). Zolly arranged a driver for us multiple times, that took us there for a fair price.
When we left Zolly got up earlier and made us breakfast half an hour before breakfast time. Really nice of her.
The breakfast and dinner were good. Not too much choice, but enough to get by.
Would recommend as a place to stay at...
Read moreThis Farmhouse is not very far from Sapa town, though the narrow road is winding. We are impressed by the beautiful nature views. The owner, Jolly is such a jolly lady, together with her sister, their service go beyond taking care of guests like their own family. The room is so comfort with electric kettle, coffee packs, toiletries n even mosquito netting. There is no air con but fan. In fact , you dont even ned the fan as it is very cool 18 to 22 Celsius. You will hear the cocks crowling early in the morn, sounds of stream water, etc. A small nice stream in front of the homestay. Bfast is inclusive n for a farmstay, I consider it very good. You had a choice of menu like bread n eggs or chicken noodles. The coffee is very good. They do have lunch or dinner if you want eat there but since we eat at Sapa town, I didnt get to experience. Looking at the menu, they have nice food menus with reasonable prices. We stay there...
