I wasn’t sure where to book my accommodation in the Lao Chai village region but I somehow settled on this one. Boy, am I glad I did.
The views from the balcony are out of this world. I feel like I’m living in the Minecraft game with all these rice terraces sculpted into the hills.
The room is lovely - a fan is provided which isn’t really necessary because it cools off to a comfortable temperature at night (writing this in September). One of the comfiest beds, blankets, and pillows ever. Very enjoyable, restful sleep.
I was surprised to see that there was a new toothbrush, toothpaste, and a comb in the bathroom and even two bottled waters for me. Is this a hotel or what?! (And I was able to have my laundry done which is always a bonus)
The artwork around the accommodation is lovely and I think I read somewhere that the host is the artist?? Could be wrong. Speaking of the hosts - they are a young couple with two young kids. They are all very friendly and while there is a language barrier, I felt at home staying with them. I immediately ended extending another night, knowing upon my arrival that I needed more time at this beautiful spot.
I 100% need to mention the food. While I would usually eat lunch elsewhere (out walking during the day) I typically had breakfast and dinner at the homestay. And WOW. It is top tier. Both members of the couple are excellent cooks. The cheese powdered French fries, the pho, the crepes, the sandwiches… it all is presented professionally and tastes spectacular. I was very surprised by the attention to detail and taste. Y U M.
In terms of locations it’s so easy to trek down to the village itself and be immersed in the rice terraces. Could also just walk along the main road for a while and get an aerial view too from various vantage points. One of my favorite places in...
Read moreThis homestay is renamed to THUYEN MAY HOMESTAY and this homestay should be in the top 10 best homestay in Sapa as it totally exceeded my expectations. It has the best view of the Muong Hoa valley (rice paddy terraces) and is just 14 mins hike down Muong Hoa. The homestay has its own cafe/restaurant that is prepared 100% homemade by the owner Ms. Thuyen and is an amazing cook and is very friendly. The room is spacious and the bed is equipped with a heating pad as it gets very cold during the winter months from mid November to January. Everything is working perfectly such as the water heater, kettle and hairdryer. You must try their coconut coffee too! For solo travellers such as myself, I suggest that you rent a scooter to go around Sapa as the taxis are a rip off here and is the major downside of Sapa to be honest. Overall, it was definitely an AMAZING stay here in Thuyen May homestay and I shall be back...
Read moreI loved this place so much, like paradise on earth, it made me wanna stay forever and never leave. There’s cure and attention to every details, lovely owner’s kids are playing and drawing on the tables at the restaurant, Lucky the dog is cute and friendly and you can enjoy all of this while sipping your coffee and homemade breakfast on the wooden balcony in front of breathtaking view of the rice terraces, framed by clouds. Besides you can freely use the kitchen and sing karaoke in the evening. I really wanna come back one day and stay for at least...
