The room and bathroom are clean, the bed is quite uncomfortable but absolutely fine for a night or two. It is sociable but sometimes this means it is loud. There was no curfew so on our first night the music carried on until 3am.
I got food poisoning (was definitely from here as I went nowhere else - because there is nowhere else to go as it isn’t a great area…). Upon quietly informing them they denied responsibility and did not apologise. They took the meal off the bill after we asked. The staff were generally useful other than this, though!
They also got our food order wrong and the wait times for food were very long, again with no apology or discount. The food and drink also isn’t that cheap (and is not good). My friend tried to order soup and she was told no because the chef was asleep even though it was during restaurant hours…so just be aware it’s fine but not perfect!
When we were asleep in the morning (not late), the cleaners came in to clean the beds people had checked out of, there was no consideration for us being ill and asleep. They were shouting, there were several of them including a crying child. They did a great and quick job of cleaning which was great, but a bit of consideration would’ve been really...
Read moreI've stayed at this hostel for a few days, and it's got its ups and downs. The hostel itself isn't bad, and I also checked with other hostels about renting a motorbike; this one has cheaper rental rates compared to others. It also offers budget-friendly bus and limousine bus options. The food is decent—not amazing, but not terrible either—and the prices are reasonable, with items like water bottles costing 7k, which is cheaper than other hostels that charge 10k or more.
Now, on to the drawbacks. I stayed in the dormitory, and while the beds are okay, each with a fan attached, the fans were quite dusty, and the room had a strong odor, so I had to keep the window open the whole time. The restroom wasn't clean, with rusted and smelly showerheads, and no soap provided. Make sure to bring your own soap or an all-in-one shampoo and body wash like I did. Although they had single-use toothbrushes, shampoo, and body wash, some items were dirty or had noticeable marks.
Overall, this hostel is acceptable for a short stay if you're prepared with your own toiletries. I wouldn't recommend it for an extended visit, but for a day or two, it...
Read moreBooked our stay on hostelworld for a very reasonable price. When we got our room the air con did not work and neither did the lights in the room. We asked to change rooms and they moved us to another. When we got in the new room only one of the 3 lights worked and the shower did not. The second room had air con so we decided it was good enough. We ended up showering using a cup and the sink… the service was not very friendly in totality. Ha long city is also a semi-ghost town that I would recommend avoiding. Another sketchy thing that happened is that on hostelworld when we went to review the experience they had shown that we “canceled” the trip so we could not leave a review. This is probably how they maintain a good rating and I would highly recommend a different stay. Or just to take a bus out of...
