Nhà Hàng Linh Đan Halong — Restaurant in Hạ Long City

We visited in mid December and as it was off peak season in halong, the restaurant was pretty empty. We ordered deep fried squid, steamed fish with ginger and onion, fried pork spring rolls and Vietnamese style grilled pork. Although the dishes were quite oily, they were really tasty and fresh. We especially enjoyed the squid. The dishes are also packed with flavour as they were marinated and seasoned well with spices.

An absolute SCAM! from the food to the service to how the place looks as if time had stopped 50 years ago, and NOT in a cool vintage nostalgia way. It is VERY EXPENSIVE, 200.000 for frozen seafood and OLD VEGETABLES, compared to 50.000-100.000 anywhere else. The restaurant was completely empty, the bathroom was dirty, the waiter behaved as if he had something better to do. We arrived on Wednesday evening around 8 PM, and the restaurant was empty at first, which made us hesitate a little. Even our Grab driver tried to take us to another place instead. However, we decided to trust our instincts and the great reviews and we’re so glad we did! The food and service were both excellent. Later, we learned that some taxi drivers tend to bring customers to restaurants where they get a commission, which aren’t always the best options.
