Halong Plaza Hotel — Hotel in Hạ Long City

We stayed at Halong Plaza hotel for 14 nights. The Hotel is modern and very clean. Our room was large and had a king sized double bed, large bathroom with walk in shower and daily shower gels,shampoo, and other accessories. Powerful built in hairdryer. Room had a safe, fridge and minibar. Room was cleaned daily and replenished with water bottles.View from room over bay with bridge and sunwheel.|Hotel is 10min walk along promenade to bars and restaurants, taxi was very cheap if we had a lazy day but we enjoyed the walk most days. Hotel food was excellent, breakfast choices to suit all diets and restaurant was good quality at very reasonable price. A special thanks to the breakfast egg chef who made me perfect poached eggs most days.Bar are was quite ,but good atmosphere with piped music or an amazing talented lady who played traditional music instruments. Happy hour(2hr) was also good with nice cocktails and a friendly smile from bar staff.|We used Hotel as a base for day trips and spending time in Halong, there was so much to see in this area. We booked an overnight cruise through the Hotel which was amazing the cabin was really nice and food excellent, guides spoke good English. We visited a large cave, hiked to the top of an island and went on a row boat in a cave to see monkeys. |The Hotel staff and management made us feel very special, they were always smiling and helpful. I would recommend staying here if visiting Halong bay....

Fairly welcoming hotel close to Ha Long's main attractions. Exterior is average looking but has a great open entrance which presents you immediately with soothing traditional music performed live each night. Parts of the 1930/40's style decor seems to be somewhat neglected in areas. The breakfast buffet is brilliant with an eclectic selection of foods. Dinner from the main evening menu is very standard, with only the chicken curry really hitting the spot (made by an authentic Thai chef, who I met and complimented, it REALLY hit the spot). The front house staff are equipped with enough English to get by (to be expected with Ha Long at the moment) and only seem to know basic knowledge of the attractions just down the road. If you ask, they will get any taxi fares reduced to more reasonable rates. Restaurant staff seem to know the menu enough and will try to assist in getting your meal how you want it. House cleaning is on point taking a few minutes to turn the room around again. The laundry service is fairly cheap and efficient, costing around £18 for a week's worth of clothes to be washed, dried, pressed and hung within the same day.

Overall, the stay was pleasant but if visiting Ha Long again, nothing stood out enough for me to immediately consider staying at the Halong Plaza...

I took my hisband to vietnam for a special birthday. My husband and i found the hotel to be very comfortable and the cleanliness was of a high standard. The rooms were cleaned and the beds were changed every day. All the staff at Halong plaza worked very hard to maintain a high standard. The four season restraunt is very good and had lots of tasty food on their menu to choose from. We had a buffet style breakfast every morning which was also lovley. The hotel is in a good location. We were on the 12th floor with the most beautiful view and the room was of a good size. We had the most amazing 3 day cruise around Halong bay which was organised by the receptionist this was the highlight of our holiday it was absolutley breathtaking. There is nothing we can fault in this hotel as our 2 week stay was absolutly amazing. All staff were very polite and very attentive. We had an early morning check out (03:30am) and the hotel manager insisted on making us a cooked breakfast and snacks to take on our 2.5 hours journey to the airport.
