Heritage Hotel Halong — Hotel in Hạ Long City

I always take the reviews by others with a pinch of salt but this time i have to agree by the previous negative reports . This hotel has seen better times and is in places looks tired . I visited the Heritage Halong Hotel on Tuesday 7th November 2017 . The first thing i noticed was the lack of bar facilities anywhere within the hotel , several floors were closed off and looked as if they were mothballed because of the lack of guests .My bedroom overlooked the bay which would have been very picturesque several years ago but now because of land reclamation a theme park and housing has encroached around the bay ( reminiscent of Las Vegas or Blackpool ) The reviews of unbearable music is NO exaggeration even with windows closed. One suggestion to try to remedy this would to completely renew all windows and triple glaze them .The staff seemed to not care when i asked if there was other rooms available and just shrugged the only grace is i only stayed one night and the music did seem to stop around 11 pm . The bar in question seemed void of any patrons when i walked past it at 8 pm.In the morning i visited the breakfast restaurant and i was shocked that the breakfast table was not laid up with any cutlery or any condiments the staff seemed to be in a trance like state and took no notice at the guests looking bewildered as to where they could find some cutlery it seemed pointless having any waiting staff because they seemed not to...

Definetly not a 4 star hotel. Could be 2 stars though.

Good things; The pool area is nice, the room is big enough and relatively clean, bathroom accessories are provided daily and the bathroom is also clean. Air conditioning works in the room and in the main hotel areas. There is a safe in the hotel room and some rooms have a small balcony and a bathtub. The location of this hotel is quite nice. There is a fridge in the room. The breakfast buffet was very good.

Bad things; You can smell mold right when you step in the hotel. There was also some mold at the hotel room wall. The staff is doing their job, but they're not very excited nor happy. They also accused us of losing towels even though we did not do that. When we got our hotel room it was not cleaned after the previous customers. There are some white plastic pieces floating in the pool, the pool water is not very fresh as it is very hot at summer. There is a tennis court, that looks like it has never been maintained. Overall most of the hotel area looks like they've got tired of maintaining and cleaning it properly. There are no rackets, no balls etc. Sometimes the whole 7th floor was smelling slightly like toilet. No idea where that smell came from. The room price was way too high considering...
