The motel is quite new and the rooms are nice, spacious and has hot water in the bathroom. The bed however is rock solid, it’s like sleeping on bricks, but for the one night we were there it was perfectly fine.
In saying above, we were a bit taken back by the owners. They were very nice people to speak too (no English, only through google translate) but a little bit scammy and it’s clear they are targeting expats to get as much money as possible out of them. They obviously thought we were not aware of prices in Vietnam but we had already been traveling the country for 5 weeks so knew the average prices for everything inside out.
We asked for a scooter rental. Usual price anywhere in Vietnam is VND130k to VND150k per a single 24 hour day. They tried charging us VND100k per hour, which is completely insane. They could see we were a bit shocked and tired backtracking and reducing lower and lower until they came to VND40k per hour, which obviously we didn’t take either.
Then we tried to buy 1 litre water from their shop. Usual price is around VND10k, they tried charging us VND40k, eventually we had to agree to VND25k because there were no other shops open in the area.
Finally, we needed to get a taxi to go to the pier around 2.5km away, we had heavy bags so didn’t want to walk. Usually we would get a grab but Tuan Cha is a ghost town so impossible to get a grab. When we checked the price on grab it came to VND30k but these guy were charging 4 times as much using their car. We had no option but to take it and we agreed on VND100k.
These kind situations where the owners purposely try to screw people really takes away from the motel itself, which is well priced for what you get. I do hope the owners read this review, as they should really reconsider these kind of unsavoury tactics which results in their motel getting bad reviews…it’s not a way to do business and really discourages people...
Read moreThe couple who ran the hotel were so friendly.. speak very soft and accommodating. The room and bathroom were very clean, all brand new and modern. Spacious rooms. Fyi, pictures took when we checked out. When we insisted on giving tips, the lady gave us water for our bus trip to ninh bhin. The location is good. 12 min walk from our daily cruise trip and 3 min walk to bus meeting point. Another plus: they have brand new lift. So I don't need to carry my backpack all the way to 4th floor. Neighborhood is quite (tend to be too quite) so we had a very good rest. U will find a small market to buy water, ice cream and other essential things....
Read moreVery nice hotel, especially considering the price. Stayed one night and paid 360K VND. Both the room and bathroom were very clean, the cleanest I've had so far in Vietnam. The airco was very quiet, and there was enough hot water from the shower. The staff was very friendly, and managed to help us with anything we needed using voice-to-text translation. Although we arrive a few hours before the check-in time, we could drop off our luggage early, and even check in to the room way before the regular check-in time . Some small shops and food-stalls nearby, which is nice since Tuan Chau itself is...
