The good review attract me here. But unfortunately, I do not have good experience.
-the "free" bikes made me feel I can live in this location far from city center. But the truth is all bikes are in bad condition and can't be locked. So you turn out either have to rent motorbike from her (120000 VND empty tank) or to take grab.
-The owner asked to keep passport with her for rent the bike. it's understandable, but unsafe for any traveler. And she did not return immediately after I return the bike. No hotel would ever ask passport deposit in Vietnam. And the drawer she kept all the passports doesn't seen to be a safe place. People walking around.
-The check in time is not mentioned in the booking website. It's 2 pm.
-the common area is nice, and it's a beautiful house. But I think the owner is not honest enough. And my stay experience is the worst I ever had in Vietnam.
The owner was not so welcoming when I arrived. At first I thought it's some kind of racial discrimination, since she talked to other white skin traveler first and in such a friendly way even they arrived later then me. When she talked to me, she mentioned that because I canceled my reservation and booked again (through Agoda), my booked room is not available. The owner said she saw me canceled, so she let others to extend. She mentioned in a way that it's my fault, but it's her responsibility to close the booking of it's full. She said she couldn't contact me, but I don't think it's true. Even phone number is not working, there are email and can contact through the booking plateform. So she put me in a two-bed dorm and very "kindly" say she won't and can't charge more which she shouldn't. She is kind of cold, probably becasue she can't sell any tourist package to me. I have done my visit in Hoian, and have local friends to show me around. I totally understand I am not an important guest.
The room she gave me is in another building(2 minutes walk), new, spacious, but not so well mentain expecially the kitchen. It's almost empty. My room was alright. But the worst thing is at night, many mosquitos. I understand mosquitos are normal in Vietnam. But I did not have mosquitos in other hotels, which means the room she gave me is obviously not well-prepared for accommodating guests. I was attacked by mosquitos all night and couldn't sleep for all night. I booked two night stay, but I decided to leave immediately the next morning. I booked another hotel.
I personally don't recommend this place because of my experience. But if you like far and quiet places, don't mind to pay for tourist packange, and intended to rent a bike. I think the owner can be quite...
Read moreWhen we pulled up to Melody Boutique Villa to check in and saw that everyone who was checking out was insistent on hugs and photos with the owners, we knew this was the perfect place for us.
My friend and I were on a motorbike road trip through Vietnam (Hanoi to HCMC), and we came across this villa online. Our air conditioned room was large and clean, with a refrigerator inside and tidy amenities. It cost roughly $9 USD per night.
This homestay really makes you feel like part of the family. Shoes come off at the door (house slippers provided for you if you don't have any), and there's a communal dining room table where travelers gather for meals, or trip planning, or a cold beer. There are sofas to gather at and chat. There's a quiet and breezy patio out front that gets a good portion of shade during the day to avoid heat, and a rooftop patio if you prefer to catch a view and some sun. Every morning we were cooked a homemade breakfast by the owners, free of charge; banana pancakes with cocoa spread were my personal favorite.
This villa is laid back and peaceful; it's about a 15 minute walk through quiet streets to the hubbub of the Hoi An Lantern Market, which was great for us because we were road weary and wanted some sound rest away from crowds. There's ample parking at the street and it's got plenty of space for bikes.
I can't recommend this place enough as a warm, inviting, and pleasant place to stay during your trip to Hoi An. The owners have plenty of recommendations and are extremely helpful to foreign travelers. It just has a fantastic vibe and all of the guests we encountered had a similar charismatic feel.
If we ever make it back to Hoi An, Melody will be our only choice for accommodations. Thanks...

Vicky, the host, is the most warm-hearted person you will ever meet. From the moment we stepped into the hotel, we felt right at home—so welcome and loved. She immediately offered us a cup of tea and gave us a list of tips, must-visit places, and local spots. Every day, she checked in to see how we were doing and if she could help with anything. We had such great conversations with Vicky and shared plenty of laughs. She was always there for us with a smile.
Whether it was tips for Hoi An or help for the rest of our travels in Vietnam, Vicky was there to assist. We're currently in Ninh Bình, planning to do the Ha Giang Loop, and she gave us her number and is still helping us arrange this trip from afar! Vicky is such a caring person, and leaving her wonderful hotel due to our travel plans made us a little bit sad, if we could we would have stayed longer!🩷
The rooms are spotless, the breakfast is delicious with plenty of options to choose from, and for a very affordable price, you can rent a scooter or borrow a bicycle for free. Staying here made our time in Hoi An 10 times better than it...
