This whole city of Phan Rang Thap Cham wasn't in our edition of Lonely Planet, but it's being put through massive fast construction as a beach resort destination and will be very popular soon. The seacoast is gorgeous, the beach is 100 yards from the hotel, the waves are large and gentle and the water is warm. It's a public beach -- a big "sea park" is nearly next door. But it's not really ready yet, unless you are pretty flexible. ||||I clicked "terrible" on room service because the staff doesn't seem in the slightest to be aware of what a European or US traveler might take for granted. Like toilet paper. And if you can't drink the water (like here), then you should provide bottled water. Also, they really did not understand western coffee drinking and seemed never to have heard of hot coffee with milk. Eventually, we explained. i also spent some time explaining "continental breakfast" except that they had no idea - and still don't - what "jam" is. Their breakfast is warm rice and fish soup, whcih is OK up to a point. ||||On the other hand, the staff are sweet, lovely, eager people, and at least one of them speaks English. They seemed eager to learn and very hopeful that their hotel will be a success.||||Note that our rooms cost about $20 a night, which is a deal. yet the hotel is designed to look like a fancy downtown boutique hotel, with marble all over the place. It looks as if it was designed in Italy or some school of architecture in the capitol. And then plopped down here without instructions about how to run it. ||||The sheets and pillowcases were made of some awful synthetic rough material. Be sure to ask for a second "blanket" if you are over 5' 6".||||Yes, it's out in the middle of nowhere -- one hotel next door, and a herd of cattle walking down the newly-paved street. But by this time next year it will be completely built up. Taxis are cheap and can get you into town for 50 dong.||||The landscape is gorgeous -- sort of a softer Big Sur. The road is a big two-laner up the coast, with wide shoulders for bicycles but we didn't see a single one. Very little traffic. Lots of "resorts" that are used by middle-class Vietnamese and have great beaches. Seafood here is in huge variety and came out of the water only half an hour...

I was there with my family (7 people) in June 19, 2015. It is a 2 star hotel, but it is better than it look like. Situate only 100 meter from the beach (quite peaceful beach) and about 7 km from the center of Phan Rang City. Room is nice and it has some sea-view rooms. Price about 25-30 $ (USD) depend on how many bed in a room( 3 bed/room max), it is a new hotel (3 year), Staff is friendly, quiet at night, small restaurant (or coffee bar) at lobby, safety (on opposite side of a military camp). :)||||From this hotel you can hire a bike (or taxi) to go around the Phan Rang City (200.000 people in population) to see Po Klong Garai Tower of Cham Minority in Vietnam (a powerful nation back on 13th century, the Tower is on a hill in which you could have a clear view of the whole Phan Rang City). Then visit a place where farmer plant grape called Ba Moi Grape Garden, most of those product they sell at Hanoi and HCMC. And the Bau Truc Pottery Village of the Cham people.||||The other choice is go along the coast line from Hong Duc Hotel to Cam Ranh Bay on the new open mountain-road (55 to 60 km), there are extremely beautiful sight-seeings (almost as beautiful as Halong Bay !!!!!!! ) and green beaches, on the way, there are some sea coral-diving service worth so see once, and there are Binh Hung Island where there are many Seafood restaurant.||||Cam Ranh Bay, one of the best deep-water bay in East Asia, still under negotiation between China, Russia, US for their NAVY base. IF any one of those could hire or set up military base there, that one could control 45% of the world ship line (or the East Asia Economy). It is strictly relate to East Asia Sea dispute between China and Vietnam, Phillipine, Malaysia, Autralia, Indonesia, US ....||||Summary, it is a good, quiet place for relaxing without many tourist (both for Vietnamese...

I am usually a forward planner and like to have my accomodation pre arrranged but as I knew I would be in Phan Rang early, I thought i would look on arrival. What a strange place. Whilst the town centre is busy, the area by the sea is deserted like a ghost town. There is a lot of landscaping work going on and this area is going to be beautiful. At the moment is is a bit of a building site.||I just happened to see this hotel as I rode past and decided to ask about rooms. This is quite a new hotel and as such has all the expected amenities. No bar, that is not unusual here but at least it means no late night karaoke. The staff were all extremely helpful and pleasant. Bear in mind that this is not a big resort so you wil have to be a little more understanding with the people who are simply not used to western habits. Isnt that what travelling is all about.? A little bit of patienve and a few words of vocabulary will help a lot.||The room, with sea view and a view over the soon to be developed gardens, was well appointed with the usual satalite tv, flat screen, mini bar,modern bathroom with functioning shower.||Very happy and all for less than £12.00 a night.
