First hotel in Viet Nam for me, so take it for what it's worth.
Ca Ty Muine is a mixed bag, I would give between 3 and 4 stars rating, but feeling generous today so 4 it is. Considering that it's not officially a 5 star hotel, but still, certain standards must apply. So I rate it 4 stars as a 4 star hotel, not 4 stars comparing it to a 5 star hotel.
On the one hand, the hotel has a nice sand beach, although beware the rocks, both under water and on the surface, really nice and well-maintained territory with lots of picturesque places for photos, lots of flowers, well-kept lawn, ponds with Koi fish, lots of showers, good pool for adults and kids (although the water is quite cold, but that's SE Asia for you), decent and cheap bar (great milkshakes which are called smoothies for some reason), friendly personnel, decent interior, Okay rooms, decent rest rooms, a massage SPA (haven't tried), scooter parking, free safe in the room, good air conditioner, restaurant with an absolutely stunning view of the sea, enough lounge chairs and shade umbrellas around the pool or close to the beach.
On the other hand, the food is below average (poor choice, few fruit, cheap tea and coffee, chicken and duck have more bone than meat in them), some infrastructure is broken or closed (the entry to the beach is shattered, you literally need to jump over the rubble to get to the sand, the boat house is closed, some fountains are not working, the pool is shedding tiles like a cat sheds fur), the beach is dirty and not cleaned regularly, cleaning is also not the best (somehow our floor became dirtier over time even though cleaning took place every day) and the location is not exactly thrilling (but then again, this is Mui Ne/ Phan Thiet we are talking about, so DYOR about the area). While staying there, all of a sudden the palms started dropping twigs from 30+ feet above and it narrowly missed a guy walking by. After that, what seemed like the entire staff started to gather to watch and discuss something and shortly after, palm tree cleanup commenced. They were cutting off dry twigs which would probably start dropping soon. Yikes. That was an oversight on the staff's part.
The hotel is located on the Nguyen Dinh Chieu street and this street is your lifeline to anywhere. You have a choice between going left or right - and that's it. The hotel is a little out there from the main touristy part of the street, you need to walk around 15 minutes towards Mui Ne to reach it. Renting a bike recommended especially for longer stays. The market is very far to walk. Although restaurants, pharmacies (aka money exchanges) and small shops are readily available all...
Read moreWe recently stayed at Caty Beach Resort and Spa in Mui Ne and had a pleasant overall experience.
The resort grounds are spacious, well-maintained, and offer a relaxing outlook. However, some facilities, such as the beachside bar, swimming pool, and games room, feel a bit dated.
On the positive side, the restaurant has been recently renovated and is spacious, with a peaceful ambiance during breakfast.
The breakfast spread offers a good variety, though it leans more towards local Vietnamese dishes rather than a full Western-style option—something to keep in mind if you’re hoping for a traditional Western breakfast. The 9:30 a.m. cutoff for breakfast is standard across most Vietnamese resorts, but we appreciated the peaceful environment and lack of crowds due to the quieter nature of the resort.
We stayed in a family room, which was a highlight of our trip. The room was clean, spacious, and included a separate bedroom—a welcome feature after a long day exploring. The shower was generously sized, and we enjoyed a lovely sea view from our room.
However, there was construction happening near our building during our stay, which began at 7 a.m. It wasn’t overly noisy, but it might be worth checking with the resort about ongoing projects if you’re considering booking.
The location of the resort is at the start of Mui Ne, a couple of kilometers away from the main restaurant and bar area. This wasn’t an issue for us, as Grab rides were just a few minutes and a few dollars away.
For families, the resort’s proximity to Little Buddha Beach surf school and the nearby food trucks along the foreshore is fantastic—both are highly recommended and easily walkable with kids.
One downside is the state of the beaches, which are affected by plastic pollution, a common issue across Vietnam. That said, once you’re in the water, it’s quite pleasant.
Overall, Caty Beach Resort and Spa offers a good base for a relaxing stay in Mui Ne, particularly if you’re looking for peaceful surroundings and family-friendly features. With a few updates to the dated facilities and attention to the surrounding construction, it could be...
Read moreUpon arrival from HCM on a sleeper bus, we were welcomed by a porter who took our case, and a cold fruit juice at reception. We were then taken to our room on the 4th floor with garden/sea views. It was spotlessly clean with a big walk-in shower and a small balcony. The swimming pool was excellent with comfortable loungers. When it lost the sun in early afternoon, we used to move to the decorative garden area to continue our sunbathing. A sandy beach was only a few steps away and we walked two miles up and two miles back on a daily basis. The beach itself was OK although further along from the hotel the visible drainage pipes were a little disconcerting. The sea was relatively calm in the morning but as the daily wind picked up then it became quite rough which pleased the many kite surfers enjoying their sport. The staff in the hotel were all excellent and the hotel would have received a 5 star rating here had it not been for the average breakfast. All of the hot items were always cold due to a lack of burners with the exception of the cooked to order eggs. The hotel and resort is populated mainly by Russian visitors so we had no interaction with any of our fellow guests during our stay. As a couple, this...
