Okay, so this review will be made up by my impression of the place and the bad experience we had with the staff, which should tell you a little about what to expect in terms of customer service.
The premises: Our family seaside room was nice and clean. They have buildings on each side of the road and we stayed on the sea side. The pool area is not very large and lacks maintenance. If I were to go to Mui Ne again, I would stay closer to Phan Thiet as the beach in this area is very narrow at low tide and at high tide the turbulent sea sweeps over the barrier to the pool area. Have a look at Google Earth to see for yourself. This means that you have a couple of meters of beach in the morning, but as the seas are very rough I would not let my kids swim there. We did not try their restaurant. There are a couple decent restaurants within walking distance, but you mostly need a taxi to go anywhere interesting, including the beach.
The staff: When we arrived, we had prepaid our room online, but the reception lady still insisted on keeping our passports. This resulted in a heated exchange, where I would offer her to take a photo copy and her insisting on keeping our passports. Now I know that this is common practice many places in Vietnam, but in all other places I have been, they can be persuaded to take a copy instead. I feel a lot safer holding on to my own passport at all times. I told her to copy it or give back my money and we'd find another hotel. Finally after 15 minutes of us arguing, she relented and took the photo copies.
So the day after, my 3 year old son slipped on the very slippery side of the pool and had a massive bleeding from his head. I wrapped him in a towel and ran to get help. The old lady of the house sat at a table and when eyeing the situation and hearing me call for help and a doctor, she just raised her arm and pointed down the road towards the town. I was panting by then and asked for help again, waiting for my wife and family to prepare to come along, but neither the old lady or the receptionist made an effort to help us. So we got to the clinic using a local taxi and the little fella was sewn with 3 stitches in the head. Looking back, I did not expect them to call for an ambulance, but common decency dictates that you help people that are hurt, and especially a little child! What I witnessed here was cold hearted.
So, this was our experience. I hope it doesn't happen to you, and it probably won't, but this may give you an impression of the people that...
Read moreMy review is based off my stay in Feb of 2013. I was in SE Asia for 3 months and stayed here during my trip up the coast of Vietnam. I don't ever book my rooms in advance when I'm trekking thru countries. I just find a spot that looks decent, view the rooms first, and see what the price is. I wasn't a big fan of Mui Ne as it isn't a very bustling town. Not a lot to do there at all. It's a fairly small town. So I only stayed for 2 days before I hopped on a bus to head to the next town. Wish I had only stayed 1 night, but oh well. The thing I liked best about this place was the pool that had a great view of the beach. The rooms weren't anything spectacular. But as long as the rooms don't stink, have a bed, and a shower. I'm content. I'm not there to stay in my hotel room all day. For the price, the rooms were great. It was fairly far from the "main" part of town, where most of the people hang out on the beach. If you are looking for a hotel on a budget. This is the place for you. They will help you with whatever you need. They rent bicycles and motorbikes and will help you with your travel plans. They were really great about holding my bags and watching them for me. I checked out at the noon check out time. But my bus wasn't leaving until around midnight later that night. So they kept my bag locked up in the...
Read moreLast minute we decided to stay at Mui Ne for a night. Settled for hai yen resort since it was rather near thesinhtourist’s office (5mins walk). Upon arriving at around 12 plus in the afternoon, staff told us that we have to wait an hour as they had to clean the room. They offered us a rather old room (one queen one single) for 400k vnd/night and the air conditioner was not even working. Went down to inform the staff, then the staff asked a security guard to fix it for us. But he couldn’t so we had to go down again to inform her. Then went up again with the staff who tried to fix it but couldn’t. So she offered us the neighboring room (2 single beds) but we did not see any extra power socket for us to charge our hand phones. Finally, we requested for an upgrade to a better room in the neighboring block. The staff said the room would cost 1million vnd a night which we managed to bargain till 600k vnd (additional 200k). At least the room was cleaner and newer. Though the aircon was not working again when we went in and we had to inform the staff yet again. The next morning, water heater was not working for some reason.||||In conclusion, I strongly do not recommend this resort. Staffs’ proficiency in English is...
